Don't sweat it Udie.  These types of operations are common practice and in the old days, they would have diagnosed them "too late"...your very fortunate to be living in times like today regarding medicine....

Good luck!

funny part is that I'm not worried about the big "C" word. I'm scared at how bad losing a chunk of shoulder will hurt after lunch, when the numbing stops....

tell them you're a big wuss and need mucho pain killers for after the fact.  Mepregin Fortis (spelling?) is my favorite.  It's basically the same stuff that's in morphine, yet in pill form.  :D   Tho it does have the side effect of slowing down your body's systems...

How much of a "chunk" are we talking here?

I had a chunck taken off my back a few months ago - and it wasn't cancerous btw - and I was back to work a few minutes later.  Not only did they cut...but the doc also cauterised it, which hurt even though I was all numbed up.  But, honestly it didn't hurt that much once all the numbing went away.

zactly what his snort-ness said..had you been born in any other time, things would be much bleaker.. but med science today is amazing and things that we think are scary and freaky are pretty routine.

good luck and quick recovery!

hehe well here I am back at work waiting for the pain.  They didn't take a big chunk but it was a cool little cross section of my Dermis :)   On it you can see skin surrounding that big black mass of a mole the rest is red meat

The cool part : I got some stitches :D

The worst part:  was the sound!  That sounded freakin gross man!  I could hear her twisting the little "punch biopsy" tool through my skin!!!  Then I could hear her cut it out! Then I could hear her put the stitches in.  All of it!

Now the worry of wether or not it's melanoma, God please don't let it be!!!! Then they have to go take a BIG chunk out if it is.....

Funny fealing knowing a little part of me is floating in a jar of phameldahide (sp?)  Let's just hope and pray that it's a LOOONG time before the rest of me is full of embalming fluid ;)

How come they didn't remove the mole man?

I would have told them to take the whole friggin thing off - and be done with it.  Assuming that it isn't melonoma (which I very much doubt it is) have they left you with half a mole?  That sucks!

Udie, screw the deductible, it's your life you are working on.  Let em reposess you. Why you waited a week,  you should have you bellybutton kicked. Percocets and Dimerol, and pilled Morphine are always good:-) The hardest part is waiting the 3 days for the biopsy report. Once you know either way, you can act and control of ones life is always good. Not being religious, I still find myself saying a little, ..."let the good guys win this one" . Medicine has come soooo far, you will not believe it. Keep me/us posted. Chemo kicked my bellybutton this weekend, but one more session then I get a 15 days break.

Big chunk of sholder..big chunk of Colon..trade with ya;-)

Hard,

Well I'm not gonna say where my next surgery is!!!!  Got your bellybutton beat though  ;)  This was too small a cut for me to justify asking for pilled morphine, but I'm thinkin of any excuse I can to get some of that stuff!!! :D  Glad to see that you're pulling through Hard :)

 Curval,

She took the whole mole :)  But she said that if it is cancer that they always go back and take alot more tissue out :(  I looked at the biopsy though and could see a thin ring of good skin around the mole.

Got my fingers crossed on all the rest.

Got my fingers crossed for you, too, Hard.
