You know what I think?
We shouldn't need incentive to help people out. This game gets better with more input from new points of view. Just because someone doesnt have a solid history with flight sims or general warfare history means nothing. I applaud all who help out newbies, however, I disagree with an incentive to do so.
And Flossy, I respect you a great deal, but you dont need a training button to help someone. I have taken people right out of the MA who have asked for help. I take them to the TA and do not make any conditions on them. You do NOT have to join my SQN or my country, you only have to listen and learn. I have only flown AH for a short time, but came from AW (yes was a good sim too) and was always regarded as a fair player, and a fair stick.
I have no problem helping out. Those that you can reach..great..those that you cant..well, maybe they are just looking.
I think the point I am trying to make is this... Help somebody because you want too..not for reward. The best help is almost always given freely.
Sorry for the lecture, and Flossy this was not directed at you..just a general comment. (hoping to Marry flossy too )

Oh I agree entirely!  I can and do offer help without the need for a Training button... the only reason I was looking for it was to offer help to someone who is listed there as wanting help!  :)  Otherwise, if anybody asks for help I will always do my best to give it!  I am not looking for any kind of reward.... I too came from AW and have been playing that and lately AH for the last 4 years - not as long as many other players, but long enough to learn a few things, including the fact that I am useless in fighters!  :D

LOL!  Well I think my husband of nearly 28 years (plays as Zeb) might have something to say about that!  :D

RTR, some of the discussion was also in the direction of 'why don't I have this part of the game loaded' if we are all supposed to be playing the same game, with the same options being available to all. The fact her clipboard ROSTER listing is blanantly different than mine makes me wonder alittle bit. How many other peoples games fall 'outside the bell curve' in other ways software wise, and those ways could be less apparent.
That's the thing that puts a quiver in my liver.... if we aren't all using the exact same software/game updated/modified to the exact same level, then what are we using.

namezuf  <-----

Not to mention :)   If Flossy wants to train somebody on 'Training' just for the heck of it; how can she say go here and hit this button and choose that option if she hasn't been there and done it herself?

Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

Hmmm, wonder if I should do a complete reinstall as others have done then?  I know I have been experiencing lockups/CTDs and Lost Connections, as well as not being able to be heard on vox, for a couple of weeks now.  Maybe a reinstall will solve all my problems.... if only we had cable or at least ADSL...  :(

Well if you mean Senior Member here on the boards, that's only relating to how many posts we have made.... if it's how long I have been playing Aces High, it's since October 2000 - not as long as some, but getting on for two years....  I think I may have to resort to a complete reinstall, and hope it sorts my other problems out at the same time....  :)

Yeah, when I didn't see it in the MA, I thought maybe it was only available in the TA and tried it there - same result.  Anyway, I have just completed downloading the complete installation so will see how that goes....

Still the same, but Aurelius informed me in the Tech Support forum that I don't have the Trainer button because I am on the CM Team.... LOL!  :D   Would have been handy just to identify who wants help, but never mind....  :)

I was getting lots of lockups and CTDs over the last couple of weeks so, following various suggestions, I finally deleted AH and re-installed it from scratch.  Not really had long enough to evaluate fully, but last night I didn't have any lockups or CTDs - but I did lose the Host Connection 3 times in the two hours I was online!   Will see how I get on in the next few days....  :)

A few question from a true AH newb. ;)

I'm not sure if I understand this completely, but reading this thread makes me wonder, especially about one thing.
Is there somewhere I can set a flag saying "I'm a new pilot, give me help!" or do I have to ask everytime I join about help/tips?

Also, can I see if anyone is listed as my "trainer"?

Regards,
Puh, AH pilot since 9 days and counting. :D
