well its definatly a moral issue. yet the developers that sold me all the games I have that never amounted to crap dont lose sleep over it I bet..
I tried the real version then bought it. My recomendation is to buy it. it seems to be a good directx client and behave very well with varios hardwares and it really is a great sim.

It did see some action but very minor, they were escorting B-17 for couple month in 43-44 over Russian. I think 1C is just trying to appeal to West so they can get more sales. Here’s a pic of one that is going to be released for FB during initial release or patch after.

I really wish they would allow Free ware models. I think Oleg is making a bad decision by not allowing it.

He allows Third Party models, but it has to be cleared by 1C.
and distrubuted by 1C.

I'm salivating for Western Front!! I would probably buy every Flight Sim they sell.
Oleg don’t want to have it like MCFS. 1C and UbiSoft want to make sure that if external (not made by team) models going to be in the sim, those models better look very good.. like this one

Especially LOMAC So as long as I get to fly an A6 Intruder.

LOMAC is not made by 1C and A6 will not be flyable.

;)

Hopefully A6 will be added some where down the line...

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I am glad that Olav keeps control of the planes that are available. it helps him keep control of the comunity and it helps him pace the delivery of add ons. Both of those are very valuble to the developer.
That pony is about the most beautifle 3d model I have ever seen.
man they are doing it right with this one..

It is a stand alone game as well.  Support the good software developers or play microshit.  Yer choice.

Just tried new patch (or upgrade, to be fair) of Il-2. Simply, I am delighted.

The game is improving with each and every release and is the lead flight sim, IMO.

For example, few little things I have noticed. Guns on Fw 190 now work as someone mentioned not too long ago on these boards. Trigger 1 fires MGs and inboard cannons. Trigger 2 fires outboard cannons. This is new with version 1.2.

Stuka, for example, has automatic system for pulling out of dives -as it had historically.

An allied test pilot said 190 could do half roll in one second. Guess what, it shows in Il-2. Roll rate is fabulous. 190 is for a change very pleasant to fly, sometimes I just fly it offline doing nothing else but aerobatics. Don't get me wrong here - it is not poorly modeled, any Yak or 109 will outturn you without trouble. It is just that I now see how pilots were pleased with how 190 handled.

I haven't gone to like Il-2 because it models LW planes more favorably than AH does. This is rather shortsighted assesmant (try flying VVS planes). What makes Il-2 a winner for me is the attention to detail - historical cockpits with metric units, Stuka siren, pilot bailing and running for cover, dust cloud after touchdown, planes fly beautifully in general - hammerhead is in fact possible ;)). In winter maps it takes longer for engine to overheat. Also, planes fly faster in winter conditions - all modeled in Il-2. The game models ammo mixes. If you fire a cannon burst into the ground from MG 151/20, you will see different types of clouds and puffs, depending of round type that hits (HE, AP or tracer).

Il-2 online is another issue, though. I didn't enjoy online play much. It seems that multiplayer protocols impose quite a task on CPU. I had to lower gfx settings. Only rarely I have seen warps, much less than in AH. Still, most dogfight servers were with outside view, air start, unlimited ammo and such. They are not the only solution, there are other types of servers - missions and campaigns, historical setups etc. These mostly have full realism, even icons are turned off.

AH is fun, but when I want immersion, it is Il-2.

Honestly, the P51 is a sick joke they let loose...

it will, unfortunately, be made flyable in one of the FB "updates"... the list is only flyable planes at release.

The P47, I dunno if it's listed as flyable initially, will be made flyable. As will many of the non-flyable aircraft listed there... such as the Mc.202, Ar-196, Bf-110, and several others (can't remember 'em all)...

and then of course, the ever present La7s will be flyable with FB's initial release.. and of course they will have some of the most uber versions available of that plane... one that didn't even get past prototype stage.... :-/ but they don't make some of the other planes that did more fighting flyable... like the French Moranes, Fiat G.50, Blenheim or Me210..

Atleast it will have the Buffalo, I-153, Hurricane, and P40 flyable...
