New patch that will allow using custom speech files for the radio msgs (in HUD and voice).

It's at il2sturmovik.com... slow downloads there tho, better wait for a mirrior.

I keep seeing references to this sim. Is it worth the $40 to get it, and will it corrupt my Aces High gunnery skills?

I have been messing with it for a couple of months,,,,

It will improve your gunnery in AH, at least it has with mine.
You have to get real close to do damage or get kills in IL-2.

I have been curious about it. But everyone posts that the FM in the demo is different from the real game. I would like to road test the thing before I drop 40 bucks on it.

IL2 is a good game, I will not play it online. Therefore I have to be in the mood to play it. I get all the fun (and work) I need right here in MA and SEA. The only thing I would want from IL2 in AH is the aircraft.

Eye Candy is awesome, FM is weak compared to AH IMO. Action is Great, but once again, Offline play gets old, Fast.

Offline it sucks-just like AH, WB or any other game. Easymo, get yer bellybutton to Austin, and you can play on my system before you buy it.

IL2 was playable in windows millenium,now I installed win200 and it's slow like hell. I hope that changing to a NT version of Directx will make it run normally again,otherwise,bye bye Il2.

To me the IL2 FM is the best around. It isn't perfect, notably at high altitudes and high speeds, but it is great. Landing and takeoff are a challenge. I really wish UBI would release a Pacific war game with carriers.

It requires engine management too.

It is also the best game around from a technical standpoint.. sound and graphics.

But is isn't a MMOG, so it ain't for me. It's really just a boxed sim with an online mode so you can furball against your friends. If I liked boxed sims this would be the only one on my shelf.

Well dont stand outside the shop, comon in. I'll sell it for 20 bucks (dont play it much no more). Great graphics, ok missions, the AI is ok (never tried the new patches though), the FM is actually impressive but its really an illusion and ultimately if you try to fly the envelope, youll notice its faults in the FM. Its a nice break from AH though. If you want it, let me know else I'll package what games are left unsold with the buyers of the controllers, 1 game per controller if any games left.

Did I mention the graphics are AWSOME. Im such a horrible saleman. Hehe.
