What Did Jesus Do When Someone Said To Him "Jesus Christ, Are You Some Kind Of Jesus Freak?"

Jesus explained to the man that he wasn't a "freakazoid religious nutcase scumbag," as the man called him, but rather he was a man of peace. A man put on this earth to bring others together in a shared, unified mission of hope and prosperity. And when the man listened to Jesus and then spit on his feet, Jesus blinked and the guy was struck by lightning and turned into a pile of dust.

The moral: Maintain control at all times. And then, if need be, reckless violence is acceptable.

lol, I knew it, Jesus is everybodys friend. Especially in times of need like when your car is under a collapsed bridge or when your in the middle of the ocean and you see a shark fin or when that 18 wheeler is 10 yards away or when that 7.62 mm round is 50 meters out and you see its tracer or if you have HOT date and its not your hair day or ...

True believers never bothered me. The ones that are truly faithful without reservation. The ones that can peacefully coexist with others that don't share their faith, content in the knowledge that their faith or lack of it is all part of God's plan.

Best way to expalin it is straight from the Bible--

Matthew 28
19   Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20   Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Luke 24
46   And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47   And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48   And ye are witnesses of these things.
49   And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

and on a note that befits this thread--

2 Timothy 3
1   This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2   For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3   Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4   Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5   Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6   For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7   Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8   Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9   But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.
10   But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11   Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12   Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13   But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14   But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15   And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16   All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17   That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

And here is another passage.  You ask the question WWJD?

Revelation 19
10   And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
11   And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12   His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

I love Jesus.

All religous beliefs require a leep of faith, since the Diety is not talking to you.  Or maybe he is and that is why one is on psychotropic drugs.

Bingo. You'd be right, in many cases.

On the other hand, this is one VERY good reason to being skeptical. We want it so bad we'll accept something with little evidence, with close to no logic.

I'd love for there to be a heaven, for there to be something after life. Very much. But, I am a skeptic, and I am a realist. I understand that my desires for it may skew my reasoning (as desire has before). And I cannot (unfortunately) live believing in somethi9ng I consider highly unlikely or unproved.

The reason that you want something is also one of the better reasons for why you should question it.

Even twice!

Heh and someone wrote that the gospels are truth because they were written "only a few hundred years after the incidents took place".

Yay. Let's wait 200 years and see what they think about, say, a Rebel insurgent in Guatemala :).

Oh here's a funny thought: would the Bible be considered an 'idiot card' as in the post about US soldiers response to the press?

Here we are, the Evil Atheist Conspiracy, out to get the shovel under the righteous, but then they pull out the Big Answers book?

Ok, that was a below the belt. Ammo: forgive me, for I know not what I am doing :).

What would Jesus do is irelevent...Hes not here you are.. Jesus was god and so are you and I. Or Goddess if you prefer. Anyway we are all made out of the same stuff, as everything else that is, or will ever be in the universe. We are the universe, the universe is god, we are god. We are not sheep that need to be led.

We are NOT children that should believe everything the church tells us to with blind faith. We should investigate everything and come to our own conclusions, we are god.

We were never kicked out of the Garden we still live there if we would open our eyes and see it.

Don't assume because someone doesn't believe in The Christian Faith that they are Atheist.

What would Jesus do if he was here today? He'd be a Pagan!!

Blessed Be and Never Thirst:)
