I use a Polar, too.  I have the range between 140bpm and 170bpm to recognize when I'm warm and when I'm overexerting, and try to keep my pace around 160bpm.  30 minutes at this pace will get me around 4 miles or so.  I'm not really sure because I didn't really follow the odometer closely when I measured it out in my cherished 1998 Toyota 4runner...that was mauled by dogs trying to get to a cat on the roof!

Zig, I started at 155, took 3 years to get to 215 lbs.  Now I'm just into maintaining, and my current weight is running at about 195-200.  In order to keep that kind of weight on, you'll have to bulk lift for 6 months out of the year, thats if your metabolism is anything like mine.

159bpm is my 70% cieling.  I don't exceed that on training runs.  When doing speed work I crank it up to either 80% or 90-95%.

The taliban is me too. I had a beard for a while, and have also gotten contacts.

I don't look anything like either picture at the moment. I am much lighter and without a beard. I was thinking of putting up a running film for the students- perhaps I will do that.

Kieren, was that a 25 or 45 lb. bar?  Not bad!  I'm doing 45's on each side, but with a 25lb. bar (Total weight 115) on a Curling support bench (to prevent bad form)

BTW, Im doing a 30lbs plate on each side, on a preacher bar, sideways.

Cracked my ulna with that, but my tennis elbow isn't really that big a problem now, thank goodness.

That's an Olympic bar, or about 45lbs. It doesn't matter though, because I was cheating like hell. Taping workouts helps a guy, that's for sure. ;)

Cool thread, I must have missed the first one :)

I lift 3 times a week, and depending on my goals do cardio 4 to 6 times a week for 30 to 60 mins a pop. Its hard during the summer when Im  busy, and miss the odd day, but I feel guilty about it :) The best shape ive been in was 190lbs at 7% BF. Now that was a calper test so it might not have been exactly on, but it was close.  This was a year ago.  Since then I had a very bad ankle sprain, which led to back problems and only recently got back into gear. I ballooned up to 215, and not much of it muscle im afraid :( Im now 5'8'' and 204, so I have been making progress :)

IN an effort to find more workout time, Ive been  building my own gym. Ive collected some stuff from classified adds "olimpic bar, bench, 300lbs of weights, assorted dumbells" and am in the process of building myself a power rack. Gona let the gym membership laps, less driving =more workout time.

God that is funny, still... Sand you ARE a huge liberal studmuffin, and "I have flashlight " was supposed to be a extreme counterpoint goof mocking all the cock-grabbing, weight plate slingin, pitiful old men going on and on... damn near tripping over their yearbooks and football trophies like AH should give a toejam.

whooosh...

More wine!

Goodnight all.
