Joystick Response
« on: October 29, 2002, 10:04:00 PM »
I switched from TM FLCS to the Cougar recently and have noticed a loss of responsiveness in control of the aircraft. I’m not able to roll as quickly, loop as quickly or pull turns as sharp. I can hardly force a blackout! I’m hoping someone can tell me what’s wrong. Anyone have a clue?

Thanks

2 things.

1 - when you install a new j/s and/or drivers, it always wise to reinstall DX afterwards.

2 - double check your scaling/dampers/deadbands. not all sticks respond equally. recalibrate and start from say the lowest possible deadband/dampers and then adjust your way to happiness.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

I’ve found what may be the answer to my problem, haven’t tested it yet.

Prior to connecting the Cougar, I had formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Aces High. Apparently, in an update, HighTech Creations added a “stall limiter” to the game. It appears that “Stall Limiter” was enabled after my install. I have yet to reconnect the Cougar and determine if this has solved the problem.
