I would be a lot more impressed with inflight joystick adjustment ability.

All patches are self install zip/exe. Just point to your IL2 directury and everthing will be fine.

<YAWN> Oleg should have listened to the beta testers.

Until they code a decent view system it doesn't matter how much eye candy is added...

IL-2 is a waste of hard drive space in it's current state.

The joystick thing is no small matter. Most people are not going to go out and buy a 300 dollar JS. HT gets MAJOR cudos for in flight stick set up.  The whole freaking point of computers, is that they are interactive.  How do you interact with a flight sim? Duh.

I think that Russian got so caught up with his art work (which is amazing FWIW), that he forgot it was a game first.

I have played IL2 a little bit. The best way I can describe the view system is that its pretty decent and similar to AH, but just lacks that "something right feel" of the AH view system. Frankly I find it very frustrating most of the time.

Oh do you mean the insta-Snap your neck 360 degree Linda blair Virtual head popping through the virtual Canopy frame Views that Aces High Has Grunherz?

Be creative, Go out, purchase a Mouse ball, connect it to your joystick and Wal-la, you have Instant Mouse view without having to pay for Track IR.

Did you use blade element theory physics in the making of that set-up, jbroey?

Whoa jbroey!

I dont understand your hostility, however since I am in a good mood at the moment I will be nice.

What I mean are two things.

1.  I like the particular snap view angles better in AH, perhaps im more used to them.

2. The 6 view issue. Initally I was weary of AH very generous full 180 degree dead aft view, but just do a simple test like I did. My computer is in the right corner of a room, my kitchen is in the same room except behind me and to the left

When I turn my head to the RIGHT from my computer chair I can see the kithcen. So in fact I am seeing over 180 degrees aft. This is due to peripheral vision.

The AH rear view is more correct than the IL2 setup.

Here is a little schematic. I can see the kitchen from my computer chair by turning my head to the RIGHT.
