Oops, sorry SOB, yeah that is kinda midwest. We aren't too hip for the most part, but we do occasionally snatch a good one. "smurfy" really is a pretty descriptive word, isn't it?

This gurgley stream seems lonely.  I think a happy little bush should live here.

uhhuh, a little boramian brown, there and there...

with a tiny little bit of germainian green to cheer it up...

There. Our little stream looks much happier now...

My palette:

Far Trees   (horizon background)

1.  Darks:

     A.  Raw Umber and cobalt Blue
     B.  Cobalt Blue; Ochre; Red Light and white
     C.  To above mixture add:
          1.  Sap Green; Ochre and white
          2.  Crimson; Ochre and white
     D.  Add Raw Umber to Mixture B above for some trees.

Over mix A

     E.  Cad. Red Light; Raw Sienna and White and Cobalt Blue
          (Soft pastel tones.  No deep tones or rich colors for
             background)

2.  For water and pond foliage:

      A.  Cobalt Blue; Ochre and White
      B.  Sap Green; Ochre and white
      C.  C. Blue; Yellow Light; Red Lt. and White
          (Use accents of Cad. Yellow Deep in spots.  Also Cerulean
           Blue)
      D.  Ochre; Burnt Sienna and White
      E.   Cerulean Blue;Ochre; Crimson (touch) and White (lots)

For tree reflections:

Far:  Use Mixture C above (2)
Near:  Cobalt Blue; Ochre; Crimson and white


Lower water area:  [Left side]

3.  Darks:

    A.  Ochre; Burnt Sienna and White
    B.  Burnt Sienna and Cobalt Blue

    Midtones:
    A.  Burnt Sienna; Naples Yellow and White

    Lights:
    A.   Naples Yellow and White
    B.  Ochre and White

    [Right side]
    Darks:
   
    A.  Cobalt Blue; Raw Umber; Red Lt. and White
    B.  Mixture 1 B for midtones

    Lights:

    A.  White and Ochre  (Mixture 3 B)


Foreground:

Darks:
A.  Cobalt Blue; Ochre; Crimson and White


     Close grass and weeds:

      Darks:
      A.  Burnt Umber and Sap Green
     
      Midtones:
      A.  Sap Green; Ochre; Burnt Sienna and White
     
      Lights:
      A.  Sap Green; Ochre and White
