just d/l 1.08 and I have the same problem I had when I tried beta 15. I get 1 frame per 8-9 seconds, even on the clipboard trying to get in

I posted my problem on the beta board but never got an answer. The beta also messed up the reg version to the point i had to delete AH and do a clean install. I guess I'm done playing unless someone has an answer.

c'mon you can get 550 p2s at second hand and surplus houses for less than 30$ usd, UPGRADE . 300 for playing pong nowadays.

I gotta say it I have a voodoo3 sitting here and a 350mhz PII chip.

I can get a voodoo3 for £25 and the 350PII ive never seen for sale as its so old.
even a 1 gig athlon is around £100.

upgrade mate, upgrade,its dirt cheap at the moment.get another 128 meg of ram for £20!

what i payed £400 for early this year (900 athlon,ka7araid mobo,gf2mx) is around £260 or less now.

a p2 266 with a 8meg voodoo 2 is 4.5 year old technology. you guys with less than 500 mhz and 32 meg vid cards gotta get with the times

Well there's some sympathetic crap for ya...some people actually have to put food in other peoples mouths and cloths on other peoples backs...gimme a break, sok though, reality strikes us all at some point in life, yours is comin too. BTW Zigrat, does Mommie pay for your upgrades?

Humm look at this two ways. People have to decide what is more important. In Jan 95 I purchesed a top of the line P1 100mhz with 8mg ram and a 2 gig hard drive. Cost me 1,195.00 US$. Played AW with it sucussefuly. In Oct 97' I purchesed the very best just came out that day a P1 233mmx with 40 mb ram and 6 gig paid 2,300.00 US$. In June of 00' I bought a 550 P3 20 gig 128mb ram 32mb ati. Paid 2,210.00 US$ This puter i use now and works well with about any game. Today I finish my 1.2 ghz athlon system that I have pieced togeather by winning auctions on the net. I will have roughly 800.00 US$ in system and that includes a monitor. A word of advice is try using auctions for hardware notice the big price difference. I could not afford to just go out and buy another 2,000.00 system and thus found ways around it. I actually quit smoking for 2 weeks to buy a hard drive. Back when computers were catching on games were pushing the manifactures to produce higer end machines. Now the machines have surpassed the software industry. Name me one game that requires a 2.0 ghz. Thus you have a hardware market that is laying off employees beacuse of lack of demand of the high end machines. I couldnt afford high end so I built my first PC for a whole lot less. Look at your problems and try to find a solution before giveing up you can do it. Good luck hope this info helps.

Old P2 333 with a 16 meg tnt1 giving me playable FPS 20-30 avg. Not great and Id just as soon box the old tired machine up and take a vacation anyway but v1.08 was surprisingly playable last night.

Well that is just splendid. I am not much faster but would have expected better with my system. I am runnign a P3 500, 32 mg Geforce2 MX, 384mg of RAM, on win2k and I get about the same FPS as you do with 1.08. With 1.07 rev3 I averaged in the 40-50 range. But I know I will need to upgrade if I want to play. the ole sayign "you play, you pay" does apply.

why should i be sympathetic?

you lost a loved one? sure ill be sympathetic. your house burned down? hell yeah ill be sympathetic. you cant afford a new computer to play video games? dont come whining to us about it. spend the time you *were* playing aces high at a second job for the next couple months and you *will* be able to afford it

zigrat I'm not whining to ANYBODY about it. I didn't know what the prob was so I asked. If I need a upgrade, fine, I'll just have to wait till I can afford it. As for getting a second job... you little punk, I'm a disabled veteran and the days of me having ANY job was gone probably before you were born. I live on a stinkin VA pension and you jumping in a thread that has nothing to do with you to call me a whiner is way out of line. Do you really think I didn't know I'd have to upgrade at some point? HT answered my question right away, no prob, no whines.
