Perk points and planes are rewards for being succesful in game. If you punish good pilots with pricier perk planes the whole idea of rewarding for doing well gets messed up.

OMG, another -1C thread!

I post pretty much the same here as I posted to the last one.

Newbies:
Welcome to a fun environment, and try to disregard most of the posts on the BBS. There are some great guys in here, despite the flaming that goes on in here. As for planes, I recommend you start out in the N1K or the Spit MkIX, they are the easiest to start with. The F4U-1D is also a good choice. All have excellent handling and good firepower.

Oldies: :-)
Jesus, let these guys get into the game, pls, before flaming them to hell. We are supposed to know better. Try to explain to them how to behave instead of killing their posts. Lead by example.

Personally, I started out in the F4U-1C, since it offered me the best chances of survival, and the best chances to get the occasional kill. If you check out my scores the last 2 tours, you'd see that in 14, I flew the Chog only, then gradually changed to the -1D, then to the plane I love, the P-51D (don't take this too literally pls :-) )
I think most people could do this. Start with an "easy plane", then move on to something that takes "more skill" to fly.

Lets get up and fly, shall we. The more in MA, the merrier.

That is one way to view perks. IMO they are not rewards... they are preventive measures. They prevent using superior planes too often and thus balance the action.

Better pilots get more perks, thus they need to be prevented harder   This would just add more challenge to the better guys. Maybe one should be able to score more points (not perk points) when flying a costly plane (if they stay alive and land it)... that would be a reward.

Perks are no reward, at least not to me. I hardly ever fly the perk planes. Hardly ever...   got so pissed of the AerialQuake yesterday that I joined in the chog spraying contest with equal suicidal frenzy. A few pills later got over it though.

Sling.. I was under the impression that we all start with like 35 perkies in each category at the start of a TOD.

I could definately be wrong though.  I haven't been using many of mine so they've kind of piled up .

Haven't been using many of mine either.  Everytime I think I'm grabbing a tempest, I inadvertantly grab a typhoon.

Some two months later I have 1500 fighter perk points to spare.

I see your point and it is a good one. However I still believe the perk system does not work. I might be right and I might be wrong, but it is just my opinion.

Nope, I wasn't recommending anything, nor condemning anything.  Was just pointing out that the realism argument is almost always a selective one.  Here is a very generic example, and isn't point at anyone in particular.  "This was realistic in terms of WWII, but doesn't need to be in the game for some reason, so complain about it" and later "Well, that needs to be in the game because it was realistic in terms of WWII, so don't complain about it"  Once again, not pointing this at anyone in particular, cuz we're probably all guilty of this at some point!

And Jebo, yup, it's your opinion, and it's a valid opinion.  I hope you did not feel my posts were meant to belittle your opinion in any way.  Oh, and stop shooting me down!!! Last tour, Nifty had 0 kills on Jebo44, Jebo44 had 4 kills on Nifty.

Nifty,

I appreciate your ability to post in a mature manner It allows things to be a debate and not a pissing contest. The issue of how realistic things should be is a very combersum issue in the least.

I was just in the right place at the right time and I WAS LUCKY!

I want a Mosquito FB.MkVI Series 2.

He did ask what we wanted.

Oh, wait.  He asked what "you good guys want?" and I'm not good.

Nevermind
