Well beetle,
I suppose if your intent was to needle someone you were right on target. You did needle me.
BTW, I like guns too and own them. I find them facinating and enjoy shooting them at paper, clay pigeons, and iron targets. I also find it enjoyable to reload my own shells. Not much of a hunter, can't find it in myslelf to pull the trigger on a deer. Tried three different times, just couldn't do it. I wouldn't hesitate though if me and my family's ability to survive were at stake.
Discussions like this one serve no real purpose in my humble opinion. I have met some Brits I really liked, meet very few people I don't care for regardless of national origin.
Everyone I have met has a personal story, some history, something to ponder over. I agree with Habu, the cuisine in each culture tells you something about that culture, it broadens one's insight into that culture. It can also prove delightlfull to the palate.
That there are ignoramuses in this world is a given. If you don't beleive that you are living in a fantasy world. They are of all nationalities, and since we are focusing on "Americans" I will admit to having met more than my fair share of them right here at home.
This is my last post in this thread, take it for what you may think it's worth.
