Give it Deja!

What do you have?

THIS is at least interesting.  :D
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Sheeesh, I envy you Creamo. The last time my wife caught me in pigtails and a cheerleader outfit she didn't think it was funny at all.

Yes it don't  really matter I agree ,it's just a part of the experience :)

I have this "friend" that does everything he can to live up to the personna of your typical wine commercial. You know, the elegant sophisitication of upper-class success, lying around in designer clothing with beautiful friends, taking token sips from half-filled wine glasses. Trouble is, he really isn't a very pleasant person at all, and tends to be harshly critical of everyone around him. He isn't any more sophisticated than those he holds in lower esteem. He's just another attention-seeking wannabe social climber. I finally had to can my friendship with this fellow, his utterly boorish behavior was beyond my ability to ignore. I feel the same way about anyone that drops names or otherwise displays contempt for others based on an elitist mentality.

You described an perfect idiot :p

Totally with you on loud tourists, but... I avoid loud people in general. I don't really care what country you are from. I'm with Mark. I look at the individual, not what class they are in.

Again  I agree with you

Oh!  what fun. ;)

I've had a good time with this thread. There's a couple of new names who deserve a personal mention...

...Raubvogel and MarkLuper!  Sorry guys, no offence intended. I'm not trying to transfer blame to Habu for the fact that you got upset, even though it was he who mentioned the blue collar/low military rank stereotype. The problem with boards like this, and threads like mine, is that you need to have skin like an orange peel to be able to participate. Because the broad brush is pretty prolific in here. Brits like me have had to grin and bear it when we hear ignorant Yanks tarring all of us with the same brush as regards teeth/oral hygiene, and alcohol abuse - despite the fact that there are many more alcohol related deaths on American roads than here.

The difference is that Yanks think they can insult us about teeth/alcohol, and get away with it because there are relatively few Brits on this BBS prepared to retaliate. And if only ONE (or two) Brits take offence at what is said, then said ignorant Yanks can all have a good laugh, and it somehow "doesn't matter". Same goes for those of you who have insulted people in other parts of the world. In a post addressed to Boroda about Russia, the people of Russia were referred to by the collective "you red bastards". I don't have to look very far to find threads in which the same ignorant Yanks have insulted Canada, France (and the French military, under the guise of "humour"), and I'm sure I could trawl and locate other instances in which whole cultures have been insulted by a small minority of ignorant Americans.

So to those Yanks who have insulted us, and are now getting bent out of shape at my castigation of certain ignorant Yank minorities, I do believe you have a Mr. Pot in your midst. Would you be so kind as to inform him that I have a telephone call for him - a Mr. Kettle on the line. :D

PS Habu - I've been to Top Gun! ;)

So, staga, does this mean the end of your "beetle" alter ego on the BBS?

No way am I as stupid as beetle... guns or not.

airhead... we can either drive over there (is it farther than say Florida?) or...

wait for him to come over here and kick the crap outta him.   Bet we could beat him in an I.Q test and beat the crap outta him afterwards and then... outdrive, outshoot, and outdiddly him.   I don't drink so you can out drink him for good measure.   Bet I could even out eat the fat blowhard.   For one sitting at least.

Bet I can converse with more people in any room he cares to name than he can too.   One reason... I don't think I asked anyone at the con if they were worthy of talking to me... you know.... economicly and education wise...  I use the same rules when I travel or even go to the gas station.

Almost scary isn't it.

Imagine how much I would have impressed everyone in Texas when they picked me up for work early in the morning and we stopped at a truckstop type diner and I told my local friend "Eating beans for breakfast is something poor people do in where I am from" and "this Coffee tastes like toejam" (actually the local water tasted like toejam and once you learned who used bottled water to make coffee you made sure you went there).

It is all about realizing your culture and food and drink is different but not necessarly better or worse. You make enemies and piss them off when you start to tell them how your's is better, and the stupid American traveller does not realize this. He takes it as them being anti American when if fact they probably just hate him.

Good point

Actually I liked the coffee the times I was in the states. Especially in Seattle where I picked up a real taste for morning coffee and bagels....Mind you it was also because it was snowing and I'd just come from a nice australian summer.
I didn't like the local beer though...nothing better than aussie beer :D
(except for this japanese beer I had when I was in Osaka)

He would have a point if he hadn't missed his target so badly.

Americans who are calling out the British, the Russians, and French or whomever seem to be the people that Beetle is trying to send a message to, and yet, the people he's pissed off are the very Americans who actually like foreign cultures. Meanwhile those who are already set against him are likely thinking "There goes Beetle, proving everything I've thought about those people all along.

Either way, beetle's just beetle (or staga if you believe the hype) and not representative of anything except beetle, so it really should be water off a ducks back.

The stupid American type doesn't get it but I think the reason they do not is because they have a cultural inferority complex. It is easier to order American beer and food and then cut up any local fare than it is to take the time to find the best local food and drink and where to find it. That way they can loudly brag about how great everything they know about (American food, drink etc) is and how crap everything else is.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thats your opinion......my opinion is you suck cause you have an opinion:eek:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my experience this is strictly a blue collar attitude. Poor college students, low ranking military types, oil field workers etc exhibit it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yup the people WHO built that country....so your opinion is that the people who built that country are what.....stupid you say.....is that really your experience.....or just your stupid opinion again.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The same Americans who get rich by owning their own businesses, getting a meds degree, working on wall street etc are generally much more intelligent and do not behave this way.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 words......ENRON.....WORLDCOM .....oh ya the 3rd......MORONS.....you seem to fit right in with the third.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So in fact it is quite an easy way to find out when in a foreign country just how successful or educated an American is. Just look at what they eat and how they behave. Loud voice and intolerence = blue collar / high school grad.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So if i BURP!!...means i have no education....but I'm willing to test your theory....maybe my education will disappear when I fart in your face cause of your STUPID opinions.

Hey slow

Maybe in Afganistan you can build a country with an uneducated workforce but then again look at the country you get.

I am sure you have used your education to advance rapidly in life and are now gainfully employed near the top of your profession and make at least $150,000 a year. Right?

Any idiot can go to school and drink and waste his life. Then graduate and waste his life. That does not make you educated.

Then again this is not about being educated or not. It is about people who are hicks and louts and proud of it.

Sorry if my comments in my original post offended you. But then again the truth hurts, especially when it strikes so close to home.
