I agree change it and even though this is only a game squad mimics should respect memebers who were here first.  Just my opinion...

Wow, That throughs another Twist on things.
If a squad has a domain name, its outside the game.  It probably doesnt work into this situation.  But, How could ask someone like that to change there name. In fact, a Domain name might have legal trademarks involved.

I still see it as a matter of comprimise.  I do think the AH Nighthawks have presidence on thier name here.  I think New folks sould be the ones to make modifications to clearly mark the differences.  Still I dont think its proper to expect them to disregard there heritage either, like a total and complete name change.

I hope Couger and MDG can find common ground.

Does either squad fly for and will continue to fly for the Knights?  Maybe change one to the Knight Hawks.

When I first joined AH and was trying to get my online name, I kept trying to get PukinDog but the system wouldn't let me.  I had no clue there already was a PukinDog flying around in here and I'm glad I didn't go with something fancy like XxPukinDogxX or PukinDog1 but went with just "Puke."  I do understand wanting some separation from other identities, be it name or squad.  Hopefully the two squads can talk and work something out.

Moved to AH in during sept. 99 after becoming disgruntle w/AW.
Was in the AW Flying Tigers AVG (cpid 911@)
so I asked SKR@ permission to start up the squad in AH(got the ok).
Next stop was the Flying Tigers of WB website because I had seen a reference to their sister squad in AW.Thought this kind of kool so e-mailed there CO Fokr(Steve)I believe.Cant recall everything I said but let him know that I had an interest in joining if they were to moving to AH.
Got no response so went ahead and grabed the Flying Tiger AVG name hopeing some of the squad would come over.Anyway sometime later I noticed the WB Tigers had moved here and never crossed my mine there was a conflict in names since one had the (AVG).
Anyway guess what I'm saying is as long as there is some distinction between the names
and they fly differant countries it could make for some good honest rivalry/action.

my 2 1/2 cents worth   :D

btw,did disband my 1 man squad shortly after.

ft seeker I dont care about your name but on 2 occassions I shot up 2 spits which were clearly dead and flopping to the deck and guys with ft in front of there name stole umm from me by continuing to chase umm to the deck firing until they blew up. This was after I typed on country channel that they were ded.

I dunno how you did things as a "team" in aw but no matter where you are it aint cool.

Please tell your guys to not do that in the future.

I know the AH Flying Tigers dont pull that crap.

Thnx in Advance

Just FWIW, this is another case of name stealing. Jagdgeschwader 52.... horrido!! is a spanish squad wich has been in AH for quite some time now. The "new" Jg52 came here and got that name without asking anything.

Not only that, but some members of the REAL Jg52, asked them in private politely to suggest creating different gruppen to diferenciate their squads. As they told me later, the CO of the "other" Jg52 didnt answer to --ANY-- of their privates to talk about the issue. As is understandable, the members of the real JG52 were REALLY pissed off at the idiotic attitude of the other squad members.

This is far from unpolite, this is absolute rubbish and rudeness from some guys who just came here and don't have a clue of good manners.

And all that is said by me, who has no links with the REAL JG52 other than a good friendship with some of their members.

I totaly agree with Cougar, I was a Night Hawk once, and I remember my time with theam fondely, I would be offended if somwone took my squad name and used it as thier own.

I would like to take a second to apologize for my previous post in this thread.

It has come to my understanding that the AW damage model was such that a damaged nme plane could still fight until "blown to bits".

I never played AW so whem I saw AW guys chasing a free falling on his way to ded plane I got pissed. And when it happened again I was damned hot.

Never-the-less I should have went at the matter differently and took it to private and not on this public board.

Again I apologize to the FT guys and to FTSeeker and would like to offer them any help they need in adjusting to AH.

Salute

Wotan,

I was about to re-explain the "kill stealing" situation with former AW'ers but you beat me to the punch. You are obviously a positive presence in the arena and I look forward to flying with you.
Tahgut, formerly <TGT>, not Targut or Target.....think this name thing is kinda funny.

To set the record straight as far as the ORIGINAL online Flying Tigers goes, when AH started up in free beta, myself and Wizzer (both from the Warbirds Squadron) came to AH to fly and see if it was worthy of our consideration for either a new squadron or a complete FT relocation from WB.  Wizzer started our squad here (with approval from all of the WB FTs BTW!) and has direct connections to our sister WB squadron?s to this day (I fly on both sims as an FT).

The Flying Tigers as an online squadron goes back to the earliest days of online sims.  They were formed on the old I.N.N. and flew in Red Baron.  In those days if you were in a squadron you would take the letters of that squadron as a part of your handle  (hence HawkeyeFT, NHCougar. DragonGT etc.)  In the Flying Tigers today we do not make it mandatory to fly the "FT" but if one did, it would always be AFTER the name NOT before.  So to me, as an FT since 1994 to see FT in front of a handle makes me see red!  IF you flew for one of our sister squadrons in another sim then come fly with us.  But don't rip our name off!  This practice needs to be addressed by HiTech et al.
