FD, remember my favorite saying ... "Don't let the B^%&*(@!'s get ya down" :).

Every Country has skeletons in their past and has needlessly wronged others, including my beloved USA.  This is not a reflection on you or I as individuals or the current values of our Countries, but the warped decisions of people who could and did exert some influence at those points in time.

This is a game that is designed to be enjoyed by an international community made up of all colors, races and creeds.  You have the support of the vast members of Aces High, don't let a vocal few get you down :)

Cya Up!

It's understandable some may still hate a race because of the war. It's at least a better reason than because of the shade of their skin (though I do suspect the motivation). But I don't think it makes much sense to punish the sons of war time Japanese, and their sons.

These terms do not have to be used once we are informed that it hurts others. But even for those who don't care if they hurt others, be aware that you are likely hurting yourself even more. You are judged by these things. Others don't think less of the people you insult, but they do think less of you. Do yourself a favor and at least pretend politeness.

Osamu Ida... do not cry from the works of pitiful people without compassion. Your tears prove your worth, and your countrymen have more to be proud of than they.

I must say, in all the time I have played Aces High, I have never been treated with anything but common courtesy, respect and decency by any of the Japanese guys, and some of the best fights I've had have been with or against you guys.
I myself dont, and will not use the term 'Jap' in AH, and please dont take my post to mean I'm a rascist bastard who hates Japanese, I was merely trying to put forward what I see to be a valid, yet opposing point of view regarding this whole thing.

To be perfectly honest, I did at one stage , have a strong dislike of Japanese folks, because of what i had been told all my life about their WWII history.
Guys like FD, and several others over the years, have opened my eyes and taught me that when you come right down to it, we are all very much alike in that we all strive and hope for the same kinds of things, we all want to live, love and be happy, and most of all, that the actions of the past, while they must be remembered, can easily be forgiven.

If my post gave offense to anyone, I apologise, it wasnt meant that way, I just hope that it sheds some light onto why some folks may feel differantly than you do.

FD, I have absolutely no intention other than to have fun, and give a good fight when we meet in the arenas, I certainly wont be 'reminding' you or any other Japanese player of anything.
And as for what you can do for me.......like I said above, you and several other Japanese guys, over the years and without being aware of it, have opened my eyes and made me realise just how ignorant and stupid my earlier opinions where, that, my friend, is more than enough, and I thank you for it.

"jap planes" is an abreviation.    "little jap bastards" is meant to be derogatory.    Either way it's no  big deal unless you are carrying around a lot of guilt.   If you are then you need to come to terms with it.   It's no fun to tease people who don't get upset.

I am white.   Every race has a derogatory term for us.  Big deal.. sometimes we earn it and sometimes we don't.  I never let it bother me.

On a personal basis... most of this crap never survives a real life encounter.   Most prejudice dies only when you work, play or fight side by side.   Some things, like the atrocities that some countries committed are so horrible that their ancestpors are tainted.... You can't help but wonder if... if the grandfathers were capable of such inhumanity then...

It takes time.   The arrogance and racism of the average jap is no help either so... you guys are doing your part to further the problem.... To be totaly unrepentant is not helping either.   Denying the korean and china atrocities.... never apolodgizing... all these things add up to distrust and animosity.

Just wondering why some people forget there were Japanese Americans who fought in WWII for the United States. Although most were sent to the European Theatre, they fought side by side with, and died with their fellow Americans. Some of these soldiers even did this while their own families were interred in Japanese camps in the U.S.

Are these veterans and their families supposed to "lie in the bed that Japan made" as someone stated?

Although my great uncle flew B-17's in WWII and bombed the town in which he was born in Germany, I suppose that still makes me a Nazi to some people because I have German blood in my veins.

I just think it's sad to categorize an entire race of people as "barbarians" because of something that happened in WWII.

If you want I can rattle your cage myself, add some 911 jokes, some mocking of the Bush Ape, or the crummy and laughable education system, or the stupidity of the average citizen, all that...
show some respect before you give lessons to others.

Lazs, kindly let me put it to you this way.

It is because I feel that we have not done enough to come to terms with our past, I take it upon myself to express my apology and remorse over what happened in WW2.  If someone confronts me with the fact their relatives are dead because of what we did, then it is dead serious.  Then that someone has the right to use the word JAP to express his frustration, hatred, disrespect toward us.

If you start abbreviating the way you do, this connotation is gone.  And we lose our sensitivity over it.  Please, don't dilute it.  For your veterans and their relatives, please leave it the way it is.   Only use it when you mean it, please.

Oldman731 thank you for opening my eyes!

I had no Idea that when I make the statement "Look a Jap plane" it was the same as saying "My wife is a slut".

You want to be PC and change your vocab every other day then fine go for it.

I have better things to do than try to keep up with all the whims of every cry baby in this world.
