You have to think he's either being coerced, or fighting to keep from being expelled. You can excuse no. 1 easily, but no. 2 is one hell of a career gamble. I guess we'll just have to see.

Geraldo got expelled! I was looking forward to his "Running with the car bombers" segment. Or, "Opening Hussein's secret bunker." Ah well.

I watched him last night...I don't think he's gone.

I like the guy....get the feeling he would pick up a weapon and get after it, rather than just hide in a hole behind US servicemen.

Yep he would! He would pick it up and shoot our soldiers in the back.

He was expelled today for drawing a map in the sand during a live broadcast.  The map showed where they were headed.

Of course, I'm not there.  I'm just relaying what I saw on tv.

He is doing nothing more than what the anti-war protesters here in the USA are doing.

But the anti-war protesters aren't paid by MSNBC.

There is no such thing as an impartial reporter. Some just hide their opinions better.

The guy is an idiot no question about that but who is the bigger idiot the one who says the BS or the company that pays him to say it?

Ok I'm thinking of this situation...

...I'm a journalist, I'm in Iraq, The "big kahuna" is hanging out in a bunker a few blocks down the street from my hotel in Baghdad and he can have me gassed, shot, hanged, stretched, flogged, beheaded or any number of exciting and imaginitive ways to die.

Hell with being an impartial journalist I say, i'll get on live t.v. and attest that saddam's farts smell like roses and he's fond of cute fuzzy little puppies and gives them to young sick children from yankee pigdog chemical weapons if he's got a gun, flamethrower, can of human-raid spray pointing at me.

By the way...how many of you are posting from Baghdad where you've got people watching every word you say and Corporal Twitchy Hassan of the Republican Guard has an AK-47 pointed at you?

I'm thinking that those who are implying that peter arnett said these things to apease the Iraqis did not see the interview.

peter arnett has been a reporter for some time and news agencies were willing to accept his occassional misgivings.  Both news agencies associated with him on this particular occasion feel he crossed the line... considerably.

The report on the radio I heard this morning was that he was fired and has already made statements about how he's sorry for what he's said.  Doesn't strike me as though he's being controlled or under duress.

I wonder how he'll get out of the region though and if he'll ask the coalition for armed escort out, considering other newsmen have dissapeared and it's a very dangerous place, or take his chances on his own?

He was on the today show very apologetic and said it was an improptu interview and that he was stressed and un prepared. He also said he stands by the substance of what he said but wished he could of worded it better.

He then apologized like a whiney squeak and mentioned he was diappointed he was leaving because he viewed the war as "the story of his lifetime".

Dont make excuses for this tard he ****ed himself good.
