HTC - Thank You JoAnn
« on: May 25, 2003, 02:07:47 AM »
Just wanted to let folks know what happened to me last week. My billing time came up around the 15th I think and I got an ( auto ) email from HTC saying my credit card was declined ( been having problems with it lately :) ). Anyway the email said I needed to come up with an alternate form of payment or my account would be closed. It also said if they did not receive a response within 7 days the account would be closed.

I sent an email telling them my woes and asked them if they could keep my account open until the 1st and I would pay for 3-4 months in advance at that time.

JoAnn "Yankee" sent me a VERY nice email back saying she would keep it open until the 1st and wished me and my family a great Memorial Day weekend.

I can tell you in 44 years of dealing with various people and companies this is one of the best responses I've ever gotten and made me feel alot better about paying 15 bucks a month to help them develop AHII.

I haven't flown much lately due to burnout, lack of gameplay and alot of overtime at work. I had actually decided that if I didn't get a response from that email I sent I would just quit for a few months, read the boards and check it out later.

Anyway I just wanted folks to know the kind of people they are dealing with at HTC and to say thanks alot JoAnn, God bless you and yours. You really made my day and I think I'll stick around.

Chuck

It makes me want to reactivate my account when I hear that kind of stories. Afterall, AH is a nice complete package where customers demands are taken seriously.

The same can't be said from the majority of its competition.

I miss the online combat - even if it almost got me divorced and burned my nerves before.. :)

I've played mostly AAO which is free.. But heck AH weighs the price of 2 hamburger meals per month. That's like nothing.

HTC you got room for one more customer?

Yup, appart from giving out dev info HTC scores real high in the customer service ranks.

I once had a slight joystick problem, called HTC for some help and guess who answered the phone........HT, the owner of the company......who then proceeded to go through a boat load of joystick options and eventually solved the problem for me.

Name any other company anywhere in the world you can call the CEO (:D) and get expert tech support over the phone at a moments notice.

I had occasion to ring HTC just last week about a concern I had - not a decision I came to lightly, considering the cost of a phone call to Texas from the UK!  JoAnn (Yankee) answered the phone and quickly passed me on to Doug (Pyro) when she realised I was international, to help keep my call reasonably short.... I had been hoping to speak to Roy (Skuzzy) who I had been in contact with by email, but he was busy on another call.  How many other companies would even consider where I was ringing from and would have simply put me on hold to listen to some music?!  I was extremely impressed with the attention I was given and the assurances that my concern was being dealt with approriately.  I ended the call feeling much happier, reassured and satisfied that my call had been well worth the cost.  :)

I too had an occasion to phone HTC.  After doing a format of my harddrive I reinstalled AH and plain and simply forgot my password..I had only entered it once {when I went off the 2 week trial period- 2 yrs ago}.  I attempted all my "known" passwords that I use but to no avail!  Now this was on a Sunday..my last day off before a new work week..I'm anxious to fly..my computer is ready to go..and..dang--I can't play cause I can't remember a password !!!!  Talk about pissed!!!  So..taking a longshot chance but figuring I would have to wait till Monday I call HTC.  Talk about being shocked when the phone was actually answered {on a Sunday !!!} but not only was it answered, it was the owner of the company himself!  I stuttered though my problem and he totally understood and then looked up my account and gave me my password.  We then talked for almost 10 minutes about the game and life in general.  I hung up and realized why I love this game so much..this would have NEVER happened with Air Warrior or most companies in general.
                 Thank You HTC ..

He sat at the rental computer I had at the Con..apparently took one look at the graphics and said "Yuck!"...he then sat and played with it while chatting to people in the area.  I came back to the machine about an hour later and couldn't figure out why everything looked so much better.  Someone then informed me that HT had played with it.  It's the small things that count sometimes.

Flossy, if you phone overseas much then it might be worth checking out Alpha Phone - http://www.telephonecompany.co.uk/alphatelecom/rates.htm

I've phoned HTC about 4 or 5 times over the last 3+ years and I also phone Canada often too.  Works out really cheap using Alpha Phone - USA is only 5p a minute.

Thanks, I'll look into that.... I don't make an awful lot of overseas calls at the moment, but I suppose that could change if calls were cheaper.  ;)
