A Few Jug's Things.

Guys,

I just can't hold it to myself... I'm very, very, very happy!

Yesterday a friend (I'm godfather of his doughter) of mine invited me for dinner and there we went, me, my wife and two kids...

He's and former Fighter pilot and flew in the brazilian smoke squadron and now flies with me in Varig Airlines as a 1st officer also. His father was also a fighter pilot and spent his entire life collecting things with some historical vallor and he realy has a lot of them.

ok, ok, I'll get to the point now... His father decided to get rid of his mini-museum but remembered me...

I'm one of the biggest enthusiast of the P47 in Brazil and talked a lot with many of our old veterans, went to our Air and Space Museum in Rio de Janeiro and saw a lot of gun camera with 3 of them and always go to their parties... The Aces High P47-D-25 has the brazilian painting with the D4 numbers on it. Besides I have a plastimodel of this exact plane in my living room I'm a fan and  friend of it's real Pilot, General (we call them Brigadeiros in Brazil) Rui Moreira Lima. I met him several times since I got in this hisgory search. I just love the jug.

As a Jug fan he decided to give me some gifts... a real Landing gear Lever, the top of a USAAF Stick (P51 and P47 standard) and... a Real P47 Gunsight Mk 8, still working!!!!

This Gunsight was the standard for the US Navy fighters and some dive bombers and the British used them on the Jugs, and only then the USAAF decided to standarize all the fighters with this one, until the release of the gyroscopic gunsight. Only the Pony and the P38 used a smaller type of gunsight (this one is too big to fit on them). I sitll have a lot to learn about it with his father but it works!

  It's just awesome! 8)

To end this history he gave me a book, with a black cover and said "maybe you gonna like those manuals..." (with a sily smile on his face)... I opened the book and found the manual of the P36! Wow... well it was ok... the went trought it... and found another manual the P47 D1 to D-21 versiona manual!!! Almost cried! Them decided to go further... and found the last manual: The P47 D-23 to D-30 vesion manual!!! what? the date of the manuals? 1945...

I cried at home.

this was my bed time history... and it wasn't a dream.

Guys,

Gonna work on that scanner thing... But gonna try to take some nice pictures 1st!

And of course will study the manual... Used some tips on a P47 X P47 fight few minutes ago and it was great. The knight was sabre in a D-30 and I was in my D-25, of course... he tried to make me compress... we got out of the dive with me at 300m on his 6.

<S> Sydy! Long time my old nemesis (you flew F4u as gold in WBs right?)

That's an amazing story! Looks like those epic items have found a great new home. I look forward to seeing scans if you find the time!

Hey guys,

Looks like I'm going to buy a scanner... btw just for a new update about the Manuals... The 1st Jug manual covers the P47Bs -Cs and the D version until the -23; the other cover the -25 until the D-30...

It's a complete guide to operate the jug with all the power settings, dive charts and so on... I'll have to study them a little bit more... Yesterday sabre felt the power of the -25 against a -30... and don't come with this dive until compress thing... didn't work for him :-)

Hey Goob, nice to see u here!! yep, that's me the old wb jug driver!!! Popeye, nice to be here, I realy feel at home here.

Funked, I said it already but thanks very much for all your help to put up the brazilian Jug. For sure Pyro and HT got a propaganda guy in Brazil.

btw, I'll work on that scan thing.

Thanks all!!!
