Informal poll: Killshooter OFF or ON?
« on: June 14, 2003, 05:52:19 AM »
Okay, guys and gals...........Here is the deal:   This week's setup has killshooter turned off.  Personally, I like it.  It creates the "risk" involved in dogfighting that did occur in RL when multiple cons went after a single enemy plane.  By this method, I was hoping to eliminate the "get a kill or assist at all costs" gangbang gameplay, and encourage more 1vs 1 combat.  Thus far, while talking in the arena, I have seen more comments in favor of leaving killshooter off.  This is YOUR opportunity to voice your opinion about it, and help me decide to leave it turned off, or turn it back on like it is in most setups.

I will be working until 7PM CDT time today, will not return home until 8PM or so.  I will first read any comments in favor or against killshooter, then decide to leave it off or turn it back on.  Please either comment "Like it" or Don't like it".  Obnoxious comments, insulting posts, and/or "flame posts" are not welcome, so please post your reply in a civil, polite manner.  Thanks!

off...  CT is too small for griefers to get away with very much.

on a side note:  nite time seemed to run the same as daytime - uncompressed... you might want to check that setting...
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

it should never be "nigh time" in the ct.

Killshooter should be on to stop tards from firing over your shoulder. Its not like you get a "more real" experience. You get feks that fire anyway. Atleast with ks on they pay for their stupidity.

Isnt there a ct cm forum? after 2 years or so since the player cms took over just about everyhtings been tried. It might be better to float this kinda stuff through the other cms. There is no sense in reinventing the wheel with every set up.

Wotan is quite against it. Wotan wants everyone to keep things just the way he left it. Wotan doesn't want anyone outside the CT staff to actually discuss "matters which don't concern them" with CT staffers. Wotan isn't a part of the CT staff anymore but is keeping a watchful and "protective" eye on it. ;)

Eddie ... glad you check with other players on how they feel about something from time to time. Sure, sometimes it may be something that failed in the past and ends up failing again. But sometimes it's something that needed trying again in spite of old preconceptions just because new blood can bring new life to things that would otherwise become stale. Don't let yourself become "insulated" because someone else is worried about change.

and thanks.

Oh .... and ... sure, KS off. It's not like once you try it again that the switch gets broken. Sometimes the wheel can be improved. :D

6 for .. 1 deadset against ..... so far

Ya think killshooter on/off was never discussed before?

You so fediddleing stupid to have thought of that I know but dont worry I'll here to remind you.

The 6 to 12 guys who regular fly in the ct and post here is hardly a way to get a "pulse" on what folks want.

Killshooter off and night time will keep more folks out of the arena then bring any in.

Theres an experienced ct staff and a forum where they can can discuss it.

Asking a pos like you what you think may make you feel good but beyond that it accomplishes nothing.

*yawn* Did that upset you, moron?

My post consisted of:

1: A commentary on your commentary about how Eddie shouldn't check the pulse of the community from time to time and keep all discussion about arena settings and such secret amongst the CT staff. Which is stupid. And your assertion that everything that could be thought of, tried or modified has already been thought of, tried or modified while you were at the helm and you had things working fine, don't fug it up ...is stupid. And your feeling the need to jump into the poll and use it to make issue with Eddie was stupid too (you could have sent him a private message ... but, heh ... that doesn't get you as much attention, does it?). Telling him he should do such in confidence with his fellow CT staffers while you hop up and down making a big ol' stink about it in public isn't any more impressive than your tenure as head CT buttscratcher.

2: My vote of "yes" added to the poll with comment that, hey, if (once again) it doesn't work ... it can always be turned back on.

Nothing in it said anythng about the night setting.

Yep .... wow, indeed.

Ya whiner. :D

Argument's over, son. You lose. Move on. ;)

My daddy always said...
It's all fun and games .. till somebody gets hurt.

I'm generally in favor of it being off.  But it's going to be real unfunny if some dope starts fragging friendlies for grins.  Don't think it can't happen.

Are there any consequences for shooting down one of your own side?  I mean besides somebody flaming you online? We all know some people here actually thrive on getting a rise from other players.

The only other sim I fly is Il-2.  There, you get a score deduction for killing a friendly.  But even that doesn't deter it.  Just like in AH, not everyone's obsessed with their score.  But In AH, you don't have the option of finding another server if a d*ckhead decides to start waxing his own team.  CT's the only game in town.

Yeah, you can re-up and shoot down the m-f that teamshot you ... but that further blows the allied-axis thing that attracts me to CT in the first place.

So....
You'd have to put me down as undecided ... but inclined to say leave killshooter on until there's a workable consequence.

Splash1

I now return you to your weekly Batz vs. Arlo pissing match.

Aside from keeping me from instigating mass fratricide, how does killshooter inhibit my fun ?

Theres no issue with eddiek as matter of fact I could careless whos set up it is.

at 1:40 eastern full black nightime 5 people in game. Night time shouldnt be in the ct.

6 eastern now 17 people

killshooter should have been brought up with the other cms like I said. They have more insight then the 12 guys who post here.

The only time killshooter on ever has an impact is when you shoot a friendly.

Then you get damage.

killshooter off can have an impact when a guy who just pops over from the main and he gets killed by or kills a friendly because he deosnt know the settings.

As for being upset, quite the contrary it brings me a smile having the opportunity to tell you you are a pos. Vote or no vote.
