I AM SO FREAKING MAD! need advice

As many of you know of my troubles with my wife and many of you know that I have decided to end the relationship....

I have not said anything to my but all the best.
All I wanted was a peacful divorce.

This is what her brothers said to my mum WHILE I was at work.

Please note that neither one was on my mum's list and they had to search for her name in order to contact her.

Do I have a right to press charges?

From the information you've given us... I'm sorry, but that's just inane drivel and all parties concerned should get a life. I'd be concerned for my mother if she was being harassed with phone calls or people were outside her house etc - but the pre-pubescent ramblings of some deranged idiots wouldn't worry me. Besides, she's got more sense to even get involved in the situation described.

The suggestion of legal action is a little silly, as is a threat of violence. Both are over-reactions in my mind.

I'm speaking from zero experience, but divorces can turn into real nasty legal affairs.

The best advice I could give is to not even come close to responding to this stuff in kind. I mean, don't respond at all. Just keep records (like you did above), keep your mouth zipped and provide all this stuff to your lawyer. If your divorce is of the messy variety (or turns into that), with bickering lawyers and courts and judges and the full 3 ring circus, then this stuff might come in handy.

Your lawyer will decide if any of this can be used to help you. But it won't help if you're also on record doing the same thing. There's a chance that someone will say something tantamount to really shooting themself in the foot. You want it to be them, not you.

Cherlie,

Nash hit the nail on the head.  Do not screw around anymore, get an attorney.  If you do not, from the direction I see this heading, you are on the way to a nasty divorce before this is through.  Speak to your mother and keep her apprised of what to do should they become in anyway threatening beyond an internet chat.  The key here is not to respond in kind, if you do, you are dropping to their level, and that alone will not help you at all.  Keep in mind that words are just that, words.  When this is over, you do not have to see these people and you can just ignore it from then on.  Wish you the best, and go speak to an attorney.

Have the addresses blocked from your IM account, do not respond, do not initiate contact, etc.

Get a lawyer and finalize this whole ordeal before she starts attacking your bank account instead of just your mother.
