OK it's pretty cool.  I haven't had this much fun with a single player racing sim since Papyrus IndyCar Racing.

The cars felt kind of numb to me at first but I played with some steering settings and got it how I liked it.  I maxed out the FFB and turned off the speed sensitivity, and now I can get a real good feel for slip angles and where my tires are.

Gonna have to do some multiplayer.  My Red Bull 550 will pwn j00.  :)

So far I only have tried Spa, Laguna Seca and the beta Nordschleife.  I know most of the F1 circuits from my World Circuit (F1GP) days but it will be interesting to learn the new tracks from the GT series.

It's the most polished and well presented mod I've seen for any game and a MUST for anyone who has F12002. The Simbin guys have recently announced they are looking at three possible game enginesto license to work full time on and release a commercial product.

Is F1 2002 brand spankin' new or something? I've called *everywhere*.....*nobody* has it. Either it hasn't come out here yet, or is flying off the shelves, or is on the oldish side maybe? I dunno what the deal is with this bloody game.

NASCAR 2003 and GPL have been a blast tho... And live for speed online races are a hoot too (except for the sumsqueakes who refuse to use their brakes on turn one #@$^).

It's been out about a year now, EA's new F1 (and unfortunately their last) will be out on June 23rd (someone mentioned that date in a newsgroup), it covers the F1 seasons from 99-02 so you can play a kind of career mode. It's still worth getting F12002 just for the GT2002 add-on though.

Ah gotcha. So why is it going to be their last? Surely it's a successful title for them, no?

The multiplayer of F12002 isn't very good. I was hoping for 12 cars, but I think it's only 6 and the net code is shoddy compared to GPL. I so want a modern era game that has 24 cars and is stable. That would be worth playing.

Nash> I read a few different reasons, one being the F1 series was not as popular as EA's other sports titles compared to how much they had to lay out for the license from the FIA, another is that the team behind the F1 series ISI are tired of making the series and want to do something else. The last sim in the series 'F1 Challenge 99-02' will be even more open to modding according to an interview with ISI as well as much improved multiplayer, even hinting at a full grid so perhaps ISI are planning to end the series in style. I've checked a few online stores here in the UK and they all quote the 27th of June for release, I'll definately be buying this although I may wait until my upgrade is done. With all the cars and tracks from 99-02 and such a large modding community around this F1 series I think it's going to be well worth it.

Hmm or perhaps this is the most likely reason :( Sony signed an exclusive four year deal with the FIA. Looks like it's going to be a lean spell for PC F1 fans.

F12002 is old.  Get it online, Amazon or eBay etc.

LFS turn one problems:  If you switch to spectator mode briefly before the start, when you come back it will put you at the back of the grid.  Then you don't have to worry about some newbie rear ending you.  :)
