I once played many years (20+?) ago when we had a "Newspaper" run by an observer (not the master). He would circulate brief reports of movements and then give editorials about what it meant and what players had told him, sort of making him a public opinion tool. But, that got out of hand because players would bribe him wth food and beer to give false information,

i.e. that is an anti-russian move, to cover up and anti-german move, etc. That's where I got the idea that the observer's thoguhts, as opposed to objectively observed facts, can skew things artificially. Come to think of it, that's when I started distrusting the media, too!
