spit14 why does no body understand it.

ive been told like 6 times today fly the temp instead of spit14. during my days of H2H everyone hated people who flew temps and never really did all that well in it. well i flew my second sortie today in the spit14.
:D .
after that people start telling me to fly the temp.i go to operation iceberg. after that i tell them im going to fly spit14 im MA again. again i get told to fly tempest. IMO spit14 is better than temp. what is yours?

1on1 Spitfire vs Tempest, the Spit most likely wins. In the MA and it's typical fighting altitudes,however, the Tempest is a lot more efficient. It outruns and outguns the Spitfire, accelerates better and has better visibility over the nose plus carries more ammo.
So... you better fly the Tempest instead :D

Well, for a neophite I would recommend the spit... but for a player, it's the Tempest. The cannons on the Tempy make a world of difference, IF you can shoot. Plus the Tempy is actually a better E-fighter. That Spitty 14 is junk imo... I've killed too many in a simple 190A5 to think they are something special.

Yes, they didn't know how to fly it, GOD I love finding a spitdweeb in a 14... when they try to turn, I know I got the kill, lmao.

Quite a few don't know how to fly the Spitfire Mk XIV and try to fly it like they'd fly the V or the Mk IX and a lot are also scared away by its torque, especially at low speeds.  The Tempest is a better aircraft at lower altitudes, it's faster and carries more bang for the buck but the Spitfire Mk XIV performs better at higher altitudes.  One more little tip, do not fly the Spitfire Mk XIV as a turn fighter like you'd do with the V and the Mk IX models, it just doesn't turn as well as they do.  It's best flown like you'd fly the P-51D, use its quick acceleration and high speed to your advantage.

ask soda on thursday. he taugh me alot about the spit14. you dont want to go in a downhill battle in a spit14. you want to use that engine it has to go in a uphil battle. it you do the right things it will beat almost any plane. im still learn the ACM for it.

The SpitXIV is by far the most dynamic fighter in the game, thankfully most people dont know how to fly it...

agreed. i was hanging around a base beenin vulching waiting to land my kills i was low.  n1k ups out of about 20 aircraft he heads for the spit14 icon. i go up he tries to and he tries to. he is then killed by another friendly. im at 182 in my spit14. ton of planes see me. they all try to get up to me but i have to rtb because of dinner.

The problem with the Spit 14 is that when some dweeb sees the icon, a whole dweeb horde suddenly appears and attacks it, just so the Spit will lose perks.

IMO the icon should be fixed to just say 'Spit'.

Tell the truth. The real reason you made this post is to get hints on what your doing wrong right? If you really know the 109g10 like you say then you should do better in the spit 14 than you did that last sortie. The spit 14 out performs the 109g10 in top speed higher up, climb performance, and goes to higher altitude. I bet you wont ho in it though.

We came up after you skull?  hmm never noticed that...

But if the field was being vulched.. how come you wouldn't go below 10k... and only landed 2 kills..?

I saw ya up there... by the time I ended that sortie where I was buggin ya I had 15 kills, including a Temp and a Spit14...  :D

SpitXIV suffers from same fate as alot of the perk rides... the tag.  Alotta freebie planes can catch the sp14 at the normal combat alts in AH, and they will make the attempt to do so...
Often the spit14 is used by accident, its easy to select XIV stead of IX i guess... seen it time and time again... vulched a few too..

1 v 1 at any alt its probably one of the best planes in the set...
1 v many...  gimme something faster...

wasn't that sortie that i landed 2 kills. was just before operation iceberg was about to start. and i had to rtb on dinner. i was hanging up there for someone to check if ack was down otherwise i would have drop in for a kill or 2.

Until you get to 25k or higher where the P-51B accelerates faster, climbs as fast or faster, out-turns the SpitXIV and is at least as fast. Best of all, no perks required. The P-51B is possibly the best fighter in the game at 20-30k, with the marginal exception of the
exception of the Ta 152.
