Gasp SOB, it's the sole source of MT's cleverness of the day. I don't take that flash of brilliance lightly, even though it is just a quote of a retired comedian.

Al Franken is a riot, true,  I just wish everyone could download his book off Kazza so he would go broke and go away.

And I'd like to see Rush L. write a book on him. "Al Franken is a bloating Old Hasbeen Comedian with zit pit scars that could eat a Corncob Through a Picket Fence, and I weigh Less".

I'd buy it, in hardcover.

Oh my, that got my old crusty face smiling. :)

Just think, with your writing style, you could replace Airhead if you'd just embrace your inner self. ;)

LOL, I like the concept, but if Rush wrote the book, it'd be all about himself.  I don't think he'd be able to help it.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

Ahhh my diluted left wing friend...ya see what you don't understand is this....the love for a mother is unconditional and is truly love...the love you practice is dependant on your selfish desires and motives. What you seek is a form of love....one that fits your mood or your cause.

And wonderful bait it is too.

No need to rush through the book. Every paragraph is good enough to send the typical conservative into an apopleptic fit.

(notice how I failed to make a personal attack on you in return Ripster? )

What is he diluted with, and to what ratio?

Al Franken is a riot.  I laughed twice in the Stuart Smalley movie...

How nice of Al Franken to stereotype people.

Stereotyping is not a particularly nice thing, it fails to give good people credit, and in this case, it is used to degrade people.

Sorry if I fail to see the humor in it.

Just finished watching jon stewart comedy central with special guest....yup.  al franken.  Im a funny guy and love a funny line but I have to say franken was barely funny and not at all serious.

Still...I guess I can see how you guys love his face.  Its ugly in a cute sort of way.  Like an ugly puppy.........

and just to placate you real serious types: ann coulter is a dog

No, I think Franken is off the mark this time.  It's less like love and more like an unfettered, dog-like loyalty.

At least *someone* has loyalty. It takes compassion and love to have loyalty. Todays "kids" don't have that, they just like milking the system (due to nurturing by 60's parents)

You know, I'm surprised that so many people don't understand the rationale for questioning the current administration closely about our policy in Iraq.

Do you not remember how President Johnson lied to the American public about Vietnam? Not to mention the mismanagement of that war.

Small wonder that the American people and the media are keeping a close watch on what is happening in Iraq now.

The blind loyalty to trust the government in time of war disappeared during the Vietnam war, with good reason. You can wax nostalgically about the unquestioning loyalty displayed by the American public during World War II, but those days are over, and the American public is much more sophisticated nowadays.

Bad things can happen in this country when we don't continue to question and keep an eye on the government. Does the McCarthy witch hunt or the deportation of Japanese Americans to internment camps ring a bell?

People who give their unstinting loyalty to the Bush administration on this board think they're doing the right thing by being patriotic. But think carefully about that. Is it the person who questions authority who cares more about this country, or the person who places blind trust into the administration?
