>>But your hatred of Bush is apparent
I didn't start hating Bush... in fact, I didn't really care one way or another if he or Al Gore became president.
My hatred began when Bush started lying and trampling on the bill of rights and the US Constitution.
He uses the Secret Service to restrict freedom of speach of Antt-Bush, Anti-War protestors.
http://quest.morris.com/stories/011701/gen_0117017765.shtmlhttp://www.aclu.org/FreeSpeech/FreeSpeechlist.cfm?c=86He's authorized the detaining of US citizens with out due process, with out the right to see a lawyer, without the right to see their families, with out the right to see the evidence against them so that they can proove their innocense.
http://63.147.65.31/socal/terrorist/0202/20/terror06.aspHe has lied to the American public and to the congress concerning military intelligence.
This is NO joke. The Bush Administration is NOT winning in the courts. He's loosing case after case.
The Republican Congress is just as duplicitous in this rape of the US Constitution, because they are either doing nothing about it... or they aiding.
I understand Patrism, defending our National Security, protecting our way of life....
We had good intentions during WWII when we detained Japanese American, We had good intentions during the McCarthy witch hurt too.
The aftermath of 9/11 has shown America hasn't learned it's lesson. It's still reactionary and what makes it worse is when there are leaders willing to lie in order to get their way.
Ends does not Justify the means. We can't arbitarily apply the constitution and the bill of rights based upon who we "feel" or "think" may deserve it's protection.
It must apply to all - with out exception.
Bush and his henchmen swore an oath to uphold the Constitution... and they have done more to destory it and the America way then any Terrorist could have ever hoped to do with their Bombs.
Bush has taken away the integrity and the honor of the Presidency and has done much to destroy America's reputation for fighting for Democracy, Human Rights, and fairness in the world.
The UN held a democratic vote about what to do with Iraq... Bush was impatient to go to war. It didn't matter what Blix found... Bush had predetermined America would go to war with Iraq....
The reasons he gave for justifying this act of SELF DEFENSE have proven to be fabricated lies.
And yet... the Republican mantra and the conservative movement can't see beyond their own propaganda and heated hate for any one who expresses opposition to their point of view.
There is something desparately wrong going on here... in our country... there is no debate... there is a blindness to the self evident facts... the justification for this war were fabricated.
It's hard to believe... and now it's time for reprogramming... new reasons... oh yes! Saddam was evil.. that's why we attacked.
Ok we can digest that... because America is never wrong... we are the righteous.... the rest of the world is wrong.
That's the reinvention of recent history. That's the teflon memory of Americans - nothing sticks.
It's easy to ignore when the majority of us aren't affected by the abuses that are suffered by so few.... yet still there are thousands of Americans that have been illegally detained, questioned, harrased, beaten and denied their constitutional right of due process.
We are our own enemy.. we have become what we so much hate in other countries.
And any one who says other wise is a terrorist loving liberal.
