Title: Palin Interview
Post by: eskimo2 on September 11, 2008, 06:41:30 PM
Overall I think she did just fine.  I don't think she knew what the Bush Doctrine was (neither did I), but what she said wasn't off target.

Linking her church message "mission from God" thing to Lincoln's words was right on; it doesn't get any better than that.

It was on ABC national news tonight (6:30 Eastern).  I think they said there would be more tonight and definitely more tomorrow.

I thought she did very well considering the grilling. If it was an Olympics gymnastic score her execution would have been average but the base difficulty of the routine would have been near the top of the competition. Most politicians are not asked to clarify their softball answers, or at most one follow up before they move on and he stuck her feet to the fire. Frankly, it would be great if all reporters did that to all candidates, all the time, and not just the ones they want to marginalize. I would like to see 3-4 repeat questions asked of Obama about why he is qualified for the job, but instead you typically see one here or there (if that) then his stock answer then on to the next question. Frankly, most Washington insiders receive the same "courtesy" because of the whorish desire for media access to the top sources. PO the sources and you lose that headline interview.

I missed O'Rilley, which I try to do. I suppose he might have tossed Obama a few hard ones.

I certainly feel she is no less qualified than Obama... Which I can live with as a VP. And, from a policy standpoint Obama's Service debate? presentation? today reinforced his fondness for big govt. and I guess the idea that the main role of a president is not to lead but to be an inspiring cheerleader.

I had forgotten the association. I actually think of it more as the Irving Kristol ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irving_Kristol ) or even Wolfowitz doctrine. If you can even elevate it to the canon of great doctrine like Mahan's. I didn't know Bush gave Kristol the Presidential Medal of Freedom (from the link). It figures  :frown:

his repeated questions, over and over,(because he wasn't getting what he wanted) would never fly with the likes of Clinton or Oboma or even McCain!
she pretty much stuck to her guns. the only thing that i saw that was even note worthy ( besides Charlie's over and over with the same question) was her stance on global warming, he just assumed she didn't believe it could be man made, i bet someone was looking for any shred of evidence that she said anything about it, and someone got there rear, chewed!
she needs more time, and she will have it, she isn't running for the top slot!
so she gets a satisfactory for execution, and yes a 10 for difficulty!

did anyone think he was very condescending? i watched his eyes, when he would ask the questions, he would blink some like crazy, then close them thru the last second or two of each one!
i don't know what that means, exactly, but i bet it has to do with how he feels about the person he is talking too. kinda think he was unhappy with having to be there at all.
I'm sure there is some expert out there who could tell us all about Charlie's mental state, during the interview
and i know there will be one that tells us what hers was!

I haven't seen the interview, but it sounds like Charlie did his job.  Push thru the BS and get some answers. All good journalists should.
Tim Russert was the master of this type interview.

I watched several of O'Reilly's Obama interview segments, and he certainly didn't cut him any slack.  For his part, Obama handled himself better than he has in past unscripted events, though I still didn't like his answers.  I also heard exerpts from an interview of him by George Stephanopolis and was actually surprised that he pressed Obama on several questions.  As for Palin, she's handled herself well so far, and I believe she'll not only make a great VP, but will be ready to take the top slot when McCain leaves office.  I certainly find her more qualified than Obama and Biden.

Bush flew F-102 fighters, no moron (mentally handicapped) gets to do that.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that the *cow* (Palin) is far better looking than you and probably more intelligent as well since we don't see her jumping all over every intardnet rumor and running with it as if it is fact. ;)

Daddy lil boi got to play with fancy pwane, awwww.  Hes as dumb as a stick.

In UPT my flight lost a "top of the class" student and a fine IP while doing a T-38 simulated single-engine heavyweight approach and landing; got a bit too slow right over the numbers. Wing dropped, rocked, airplane rolled on to its back. They burned to death on the end of the runway. Shortly after that I lost a squadron mate who had been a "distinguished graduate" at Castle AFB. We had the ACE program and we got to fly T-38's at our unit. One day he flared a bit high in a crosswind, stalled, dropped a wing and died. The guy in the back got out when the wing dropped; one swing in the chute.

I submit to you that Bush passed UPT and flew the F-102 for quite a while. The 102 is not considered a "forgiving" fighter.

He played with a fancy plane all right. I respect him for winning his wings. I think any one that tries to cheapen that accomplishment shows how ignorant they really are concerning the challenges of flight school and of Century Series fighters in general.

I do my job very well, am highly qualified, and certified in three different areas.  I follow the law when I teach and am proud to have experience in three different education settings, rural, sub-urban, an urban.  I pride myself on making an impact on the way my students view learning, so that when they leave me, they carry on with skills that allow them to teach themselves.  Above all, when my students enter my classroom, they feel safe, respected, and important, each and everyone.

Here are some quotes I teach by:

It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.
-- Aristotle

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.
-- Albert Einstein

You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives.
-- Clay P. Bedford

What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand.

I had the opportunity to watch all of her interview on 20/20 last night. I wasn't that impressed at all (I bet that  comes as a surprise). It was so funny that on some of the questions, she answered the same way over and over. Obviously she stuck to the talking points that her people gave to her. She looked like a student who just got done cramming before a test and just regurgitated what was in the book. I witnessed no critical or on the spot thinking. On certain subjects she acted like a robot.

its comes as no surprise.  Palin was not meant to get in there and attract the hardcore obamamaniacs such as yourself, those people are entrenched in their liberal
views and are lost to any persuasion.

Her strong appeal attracts other demographics.  Especially the demographic that is undecided and has the capacity to reason.  Another plus for Palin is that she
has brought a powerful energy back to the religious  conservatives.  Those people were ready to skip Nov 4 entirely.

Been a lot of activity both night and day here at Fairchild AFB earlier this week. Last couple weeks were pretty quiet then on Tuesday through Thursday  they were hopping. Still busier today than before this week. Somebody is doing a bunch of fueling.

Teh "Thanks but, but no thanks" line Paline keeps using in every single speech and interview was actually used by Billary and then Obama in the first part of the process, and redundantly used by Paline.

Just sayin

On a serious note, although our beliefs are different, we as americans want our moneys worth from our taxes.  I take that thought with me everyday I go to work and try and make a difference on the ground level.  The system can always be better in most institutions, but it will take much to change.  I only can go in everyday and work hard to instill in my students, ethics, responsibilty, preparedness, adaptive qualities, work ethic, self-reliancy, and the thirst for knowlege.  At the end of the day, I hope I have contributed to the answer, and not the problem.

Yah, like they're always making up rumors and stuff just to avoid talking about the issues! You are SO right!

Quote
No, the Downs baby (Trig) isn’t Bristol’s kid, and no, the kid wasn’t born with Downs because (a) Palin flew on an airplane (b) went home to have the baby after an amniotic leak (c) because he was the result of incest between Todd Palin and Bristol.

No, Track (the kid who is leaving for Iraq) didn’t join the NG because he was a drug addict. He may have joined the NG because he was tired of people saying his Mom was getting him into the good hockey leagues. (Yes, that one was original reporting. I’ve got sources in Wasilla.)

No, Willow and Piper aren’t named for witches on TV. Among other things, Willow was born before Buffy came on TV, and Piper was born before Charmed.

Haters.     :rofl

Who's really to blame when a bank robber is left alone in a bank with vault door left wide open, and the money comes up missing?

Perhaps it is those in charge of the vault?

Section 8 - Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts  and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow money  on the credit of the United States;

Our country will not change until we learn who is responsible and stop sending them to DC.

In November of 2004, 401 of the 435 sitting members of the U.S. House of Representatives sought reelection. Of those 401, all but five were reelected. In other words, incumbents seeking reelection to the House had a better than 99% success rate. In the U.S. Senate, only one incumbent seeking reelection was defeated. Twenty-five of twenty-six (96%) were reelected.

Oh give me a break, what is this a game of play on words?

We are dealing with right now is what the last congress DID and DID NOT do. This congress already did more then the last because all the last one did is pass what ever the Bush admin wanted. If you haven't learned anything from that over the last 8 years, then you still have a lot to learn,....and suffer.

What ever this congress did or didn't do isn't here yet. What we are dealing with now is what they last congress did , it's just now catching up and we are stuck with their well beyond lameness.

but that's what Reps want you to think and most of us called this out when Bush said "let the next president deal with it.." referring to Iraq. They screw things up, then when the next crew comes it it appears to be all their fault. Not much wisdom required to know that's just nonsense. *I* suggest maybe you're barking up the wrong tree. <shruig>
