Title: Compulsive Liars
Post by: Tupac on August 09, 2010, 10:02:24 PM
I know a person who is a compulsive liar. He lies about everything, and recently he told me he had 139 hours logged and had soloed before the age of 16. Im going to prove him wrong, he says they are loopholes but i know he is lying. He says due to the fact that his parents own an aviation shop he can get his license through the company before he turns 16. I know there are some CFI's on here, and i would LOVE to know if there are any answers to this question.

sometimes you cant ignore them.....so you do what I did

many moons ago (approximately 5,840 moons....damn Im getting old)  in AZ I was staying with my sister and her husband, they had a "friend" that came over every day,  this guy was one of those, he has done every thing, been every where better then anyone,  4 days of listing to this guy left me in an unstable mood, he was a master mechanic he built a nova that did 190 mph, Black belt in at least 4 Martial arts, I could go on for 10 pages about this guys exploits cuz he sure did, 4 days is all it took,   I had enough, he was going on about how great of a conga player he was, well it just so happens my brother in law plays Conga's and has a nice set, so I say "Dave pull out those Conga's, he does right away...lol guy cant play them at all. comes up with a few excuses, I grab him by the face and plant him in a chair, "I say time for you to go"
He looks at my Brother in law for help... :lol Dave's like "he is my brother, you better listen to him"

by this time I step out of the house,  here he comes....he gets in a very wide stance and swings his arms around his body wildly and says to me, "kick me and i'll break your legs"  I say "ya m@#@er here it comes" and snap kick him in his chest, as he goes flying backward, I chase him down, as he lands on his back I am on him, elbow and punch him in his face a few times, he grabs my lower lip...lol he has nasty fingers guys is the epitome of "dirt bag",  :lol  so I take my left thumb and sink it to the hilt in his right eye. :rofl  (no I am not making this up)
he of course lets go instantly, I say "leave and never come back"

he never did :aok

Top 10 lies I've heard in my lifetime.

10. The fish was THIS LONG.
9. I never HO and I never will
8. If you work hard there is no limit to what you can do (I'd make a crack at politics but I'd prefer to keep my account).  :bolt:
7. I didn't do it
6. No, that isn't *happy* at all...
5. This here is a Ford Oldsmobile 1999 (True, there are idiots out there [by the way it was actually an old Ford Mustang 1969 fastback, go figure]).  Some people should look up what they are trying to sell.
4. It was like that when I got here
3. The pen is mightier than the sword. That may be so to scholars, but on a battlefield, a pen isn't going to do anything against an old Scottish Claymore.  :aok
2. This stuff really works. (No thank you Sully, Billy or Vince).
1. Santa Claus died and daddy is the one who is giving presents now.

ROMEO- Babe, yaknow, I think you look the same as you were when you were alive, but still sad.
Juliete (mind)- "I'm fine."
ROMEO- Soooooo Ima drink this poison which if I had the strength of 20 men it would do away with me even as swift.

Probably could have found a different way to deal with this, than trying to embarrass him in front of everyone.  If you don't like him ignore the kid.

His cousin said that his parents are dirt poor, and he has never been out of the country.
EPIC WIN!

Seriously you're really showing your age here.  How is it his fault he doesn't have money.  He didn't choose that life.  I grew up without money, and I'm sure a lot of people that play this game did also. Guess what?  I consider myself much better off now than a lot of the kids from my class that had money.  I OWN my own house and two nice trucks all three are paid off, and I'm only 23.  Care to guess where a lot of the people I graduated with are at this very moment that had money?  Living with mom and dad BECAUSE mom and dad gave them everything and they don't know how to make it on there own.  EPIC WIN?  Wrong!  EPIC FAIL!

One of life's toughest lessons is learning not to give people political power over you. By political power I mean false power. Power that they actually don't have but you and they think they do. Its a method of control. Like one poster said, ignore them.

Like a woman told me one time. One of the women she knew would irritate her in some manner every time they met. It bothered her so much she told it to a counselor. The counselor said, why are you giving this woman power over you.

I had to jump in to this, seeing as I DID get all my certs as young as possible I knew the age requirements well. All he did was try to tell us he wasn't REALLY saying what we thought he was and therefore he was right... Usually I would do the mature thing and walk away, but it was the middle of the night, I was stuck alone in the living room in New Orleans with no idea how I got there, and nothing better to do!

Turns out he wasn't lying about his parents owning the aircraft company.
So his parents do have some money.

Let me give you guys some backstory on this kid.

He only talks about how much better he is than everyone else, he stalks my friends, and when you try to tell story about something you did, he has already done it, and he did it faster. He totally had this coming, and I get some satisfaction knowing that I was the one to do it.

Sorry Sanders but, oneupmanship is something people with self esteem issues do, and to teenagers like Tupac it's irritating. If you ever had contact with someone like that, you could not deny that you would feel similar to the way Tupac feels.

It's clear you failed to see that, just as it's clear you selectively picked up on a single sideline that had nothing to do with what was actually going on. It wasn't a dig on you for you for the way you were raised and how you are as an adult, yet you were quick to take some offense to it and defend the compulsive liar whom you don't even know. I would say it's strange but...

Tupac, catch the guy when you're with some of your friends and tell him you have been practicing breaking 2x4s with your bare hands. If he starts his lying, make him prove it. Be sure everyone has cell phones with cameras, could be an epic youtube fail video.

Actually I can.  I do have contact on a daily basis with a high school kid that is exactly like this that works with me.  Do I embarrass him? Do I ask him to break boards, just so I can feel better about myself? No, I just ignore him and go on about my work no matter how many stories he tells.  Honestly, I actually like the kid despite the stories he tells.

I'm taking up for everyone tupac seems to think is poor.  Just not right or funny to make fun of someone in a situation they can't help.  There was no need for that comment.  Strange? Haha, now I see why you side with tupac, you like to better yourself by trying to belittle others also.

Okay, I was in on this with Tupac, and I know the kid personally. You missed the point entirely about him being poor. This wasn't "Ha ha ha! This kid has no money!" it was "This kid claims to be filthy rich, bleeding ferrari's, when he is actually middle-classed". Trust me, this isn't about wealth. Hell, I'm on the edge of poverty myself. My parents could never afford to send me to college, nor did they buy me a car like most folks seem to nowadays. I worked to bring in money for school, bought my own computer, paid for my own flight lessons, and secured my own scholarships. This isn't about money, this is about being caught in one too many lies.

He has "lawyers" we better watch out serenity.

When we told him what the fine was for flying without a license he boasted that his parents could pay for it.

I was originally asked to do this by a friend, who was being stalked by this kid. He would approach her once a week, exclaim how great he is, and then diss her current boyfriend because he was so much better.

And I'm not sure if you caught my remark that his parents really DO own the aviation shop.

I am not very good at putting thoughts to paper. What Serenity said is what i meant. His parents could not afford the lavish lifestyle that he was apparently living. He is most likely upper-middle class, but he currently drives a mazzerati. He has robots that will shoot poision darts at you if you go to his house, and most importantly - He is a celebrity in India and has made million off of his movies. He photoshopped a facebook celebrity certificate onto his profile and brags about it to everyone.

And to whoever said my parents give me everything, I had a job last summer and this summer so i could get enough money for flight lessons. I drive a 1993 Ford Taurus that my grandparents had and it smells like mothballs, however it is much better than no car at all. (But I cant drive it because i wouldnt have enough money for drivers ed after flight school)

One of my best friends used to spin out some real and can still pop out some good ones every now and then.

1. He drove his go-cart up one side of a tree and down the other side.
2. He shot his bow up in the air and when he found the arrow it had stuck a deer right in the head.

The best liars that I know of all work in Washington DC.

You know I wouldn't entirely disagree, but we're not all terrible here.   :D

I was going to ask... Is he an airframe engineer with a head injury?
DOH!!! LMFAO...nice one Bronk!!!  :rofl  :lol  :rofl  :lol  :rofl

That sir in psychological terms is passive encouragement. If the person in question, regardless of age does indeed act in such a way, you and everyone around him need to take steps to correct the behavior before something happens to him. I've seen people get hurt badly by people with zero tolerance for such behavior, and they do not care what "good citizens" think or say.

And no, I don't have to do squat to make myself feel better about anything. I don't have self esteem issues and anything I do or say to people comes from a lack of tolerance for stupid.

Just imagine if this kid played AH.  We'd probably hear a story how he was jumped by two guys trying to steal his backpack and how he fought them off with a pocket knife, almost slicing the throat of one of the would-be backpack robbers.

This is quickly going to become a "bash serenity" thread thanks to Ack Ack. I've made use of the 'report to moderator' feature.

Nope, I'm the 109. That started with furball calling me a twit because "I only fly the Bf-109 because it's cool and rebelious" or some crap. My response was at first, civil, and along the lines of "No, I just like the airplane". He was trolling, I bit. It degenerated, until he decided we would solve the argument with a duel (Now what a duel would do to solve that argument, I have no idea, but I was new...). The end result is the screenshot there. Again, what we proved, I don't know. What I do know is that unlike AKAK, Furball and I got on fine afterwards, and didn't bring it up at every post I shared with him.

You need to get a thicker skin.  This thread hasn't turned into a "bash Serenity" thread, no one thinks highly enough of you to create a thread like that.  Since this thread was about compulsive liars, I thought I would just link to the "Attack of the Pineapple Backpack Thieves" thread because of the irony.

Trust me, I've been shrugging off your mentions for quite sometime, and I will continue to do so. I know no matter how many times you pull this and how many times i click report nothing will ever be done, so I will continue to shrug it off. Now go get a life and quit trolling forums.

Honestly, you're exaggerating the truth as I ignore you 99% of the time both on the forums and in game so you can drop the teenage melodrama.  Though I will admit the irony of you posting in a compulsive liar thread was just too resisting to pass up.

Honestly its pretty pathetic you are bringing something up that happened 2 years ago. Are you implying you didnt exagerate when you were 15?

Im sure you did, so why bring that up? He made it obvious that he was, infact, robbed and beaten. Why would you keep pouring salt on the wound?
Im not certain if he did or didnt pull a knife, but if someone mugged you would you like people making fun of it?

okay and WHO CARES?

I didn't even remember who the OP of THAT thread was until it was pointed out and focused upon.  Nope didn't even need to read the link as I remember the event.  The sardonic wit and so on was funny to me.  If I post something that gets the ball rolling and people laughing even if it is at my expense I think it's funny.

Lighten up everybody.  We're talking about something that happened two or more years ago.  Considering the bovine excrement I've been through in that period of time which doesn't even come close to, much less touch, what I'm sure that a lot of people have had to deal with, those of us who have it fairly good right now should learn to laugh, smile, and chill out a bit.

Dig through MY posts of the last month or so or from a couple of years back and let's have some yucks as well.  I'll lead the charge as I know for a fact that I've stepped on myself more than once here.  :)

Sorry OP
