Planes attacking tanks is the new vulching/milk running/wussie-scoring move.
Last tour I finally gave Tank-ing a chance and found it very fun indeed. Tank vs Tank is pressure pact and full of strategery. Then along comes the planes and it all goes in the crapper. For all you out there in planes killing tanks, don't you have any shame at how easy it is to fly over a drop a bomb on a defenseless tank? Talk about ducks in a barrel.
Of course the usual disclaimers apply. I'm not talking about tanks trying to take a base, and I'm talking about tanks camping a spawn. Those deserve a good bombing. But to fly out to the open spaces where tanks are trying to stalk each other and fight it out and drop bombs on a defenseless enemy who has invested his time in having a tank battle, makes you a jerk.
This tour I'm 1-11 in GVs after 4 tries at gv-ing and several hours invested. 9 of those deaths were from planes, where I had no chance in hell of defending myself. All of which involved me trying to fight against a single or multiple enemy tanks.
Most complaints center around when conditions create unfair competitive situations in the MA. Vulching, picking, ENY, hording, Grizz, etc...are examples of lopsided situations that create whining.
At the top of that list I'm placing Plane vs Tank. Since I'm not a fan of rules changes to fix everything I'm taking the shaming approach. If you're one of the folks who pads your score with riskless/skilless tank bombing, then you should know that I think you suck.*

Agree completely!! Nothing more frustrating than trying to have a good GV spawn battle and 20 planes show up and bomb every GV in sight. It bothered me when friendlies did it as much as getting bombed in my GV. The rooks owning all of Tank Town is just as stupid as bombing GV's but thats another thread.
-
If ya look at stats of highest-scoring P47N pilots, vast % of their kills are gv's
-
I actually takes a bit of skill to get a bomb right in the place it needs to be. Plus if it is only a partial hit, you guys COULD have Vehicle Supps. That's all I'm saying.

y'all know you can tank duel in the DA right.

Any 2 weeker can bomb a gv.. Its not hard at all

LOL. This makes bombing GV's all more fun. However, note that I don't fly in the middle of nowhere to kill GV's, I go where I expected cons in the air too.
-
Up an Ostwind, M16 or a wirblewind and your bombing tears will end.

Ya'll know you can bomb things in the TA right? (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-taunt001.gif) (http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php)
As a gv'er and furballer, base taker and defender hehe. It's part of the game, so what can you do. Personally I don't fly out to a gv vs gv battle and start laying eggs but. I'd rather kill you on the ground. I think people who say divebombing takes skeel are cute.

The tank game in AH is plain and simply weak. Panzer Commander from 1998 is far more immersive challenging and believable than the AH ground game we have today and Panzer Elite from 1999 is miles ahead of Panzer Commander. Steel Beasts from 2006 would be my choice for modeling the physics of a ground vehicle and for the ballistics and damage modeling. To this day SB is the best tank warfare simulation going.
Having said that: HTC could seriously improve the overall tank/GV esperience if they wished, but doing so would require a complete overhaul of the ground aspect of the game. I would welcome it completely. I love simulated tank combat.
I have to add that the latest GV additions are beautful to look at, and the interiors of the GVs have come a long way.
-
but....but...bombing tanks is what bombs are for.... I dont see how bombing civillians could be more honourable.
Exactly. Or should bombs only be used on cartoon buildings? GVs are player controlled and therefore far more fun to blow up. :x
Planes attacking tanks is the new vulching/milk running/wussie-scoring move.
Don't give a rat's bellybutton about score but have always enjoyed blowing up vehicles. It's good clean fun. :aok
I will promise to stop, as long as no GV ever shoots at a town, camps a field or vulches planes again. Quid pro quo Clarice.

Agreed :aok, but you can also try my method; Guys that carry bombs to kill GVs are easy prey for fighters that up and hunt guys with bombs that are hunting things on the ground. Cruel circle of life guys

This sim/game is no different than a chess game. Regardless of which piece you are, something else can trump you.
So when a tank shoots and destroys a FLAK/M16 and not another tank, is it cheap?
When in bombers take a fighter escort. When in a tank take an FLAK/M16 buddy. Regardless of which piece you are, you can be trumped.
Fighters (light) are no good vs tanks (perhaps minimally, but more of a nuisance). Bombers are not good at air to air ventures. Ground attack aircraft, while heavy, are not good at air to air generally speaking. Tanks are good at destroying ground targets, but are hardly worth mentioning when dealing with air threats. Etc Etc Etc....
... back to the game. :)

Another thing I think you are missing Vinkman....M4's and T34's can be used as anti-air platforms with balistic ranges of up to 3k at least. This effectively makes them the biggest threat in the area. If they stop shooting at planes the planes might stop bombing...no...wait actualy we would keep bombing GVs it's part of the benefit of flying your weapon around the place instead of rolling along the floor.
-
vinkman.. does IL2 / HurriD count as lame also?
I cant even remember the last tank I bombed.. I quite enjoy killing them with IL2 37mm though..
if we aren't supposed to kill tanks with the AP guns on the IL2 and Hurricane D, wtf are they supposed to be used for?

Yes because there's always so many people GV'ing in there
Everyone is already in the MA and when needed can leave the GV battle to help elsewhere. If we have to go off to another arena, we obviously wouldn't be able to help in the MA.

Agree completely! Particularly with the perpetual whack a mole spawn camping. THE primary reason but not the only reason. I dont bother with the GV game much anymore cept on rare occasion and then only for a little while

lol Take some friends with you and have a good time. The original poster was talking about just having good ole tank battles without it being ruined by bomb****s with no base taking involved. At least that was the way I took it.
Oh I will bomb them also given a chance.
-
I've GV'd for years. love it... i know how frustrating it is for get a P47 to kill you after you finally sit down in town and cover the HQ... and personally i say that it was my team's fault for not being able to shoot down the 47 with AN AIRCRAFT!!! :rofl
ONE THING... If you are in a GV, GET A PLANE TO COVER UR BUTT!!! :rofl :aok
-
Well. Evidently I'm no better than a 2 weeker. Fine by me, but I will only hit a GV 4/5 times if that. I still have trouble at times... Although being in a formation of bombers doesn't help.

I'll say no they not lame for the reason g that the gun run for an effective 37/40mm kill on a tank with those planes is pretty shallow. I have a fighting chance to kill you with the main gun, so you are putting yourself at risk to make the kill. There is sportmanship in that.
The bomb****s run no risk of dying, that's what makes it unsportsman like, and hence lame in a game, that is played for fun. It's not fun if the opponent doesn't have a chance.

Yes I hear you flatiron <S>, but arranged fights aren't always easy to set up. Most folks want to stay in the MA. Just asking for a little courtesy from folks is all.
-
I have seen too many gv'ers (some included in this thread) camping runways, vulching planes. For that reason alone, I will never feel bad about dropping bombs on tanks.
-
. does IL2 / HurriD count as lame also?
The Hurri D is the Gentleman's way to hunt tanks... the Il-2 with 37mm... not so much ;)
I'll say no they not lame for the reason g that the gun run for an effective 37/40mm kill on a tank with those planes is pretty shallow.
Quite the opposite. The effective angle is pretty steep. They should not be able to track you with the main gun at all.

Kassill out.

Yes! Right-o! You have taken a shot at me, therefore I get to take the next volley, see?! Yes, yes.
The Hurri is very difficult, especially when you shoot once, the sight isn't where it was originally, :lol
Well, difficult for someone who doesn't bust GVs a lot. ;)
-
I don't see any problem with leaving the guys having a genuine tank battle alone, and just bombing the GV's that pose some sort of threat to my team: taking a town, camping a spawn, whatever.
It's a bummer to spend all that time driving somewhere to have a good GV fight just to get bombed. I suppose it's sort of like someone jumping in and "helping" you during a 1v1 without asking first.
I'll keep your suggestion in mind Vinkman!
<S>
-
If you don't egg the tanks they end up vulching you on the runway. When the GVers stop shelling FHs, stop shelling planes on the runway, and stop helping take bases (killing the fight) I will stop egging them.
If you stay at the spawn, I tend to ignore you. Besides, complaining about aircraft in a game called 'Aces High' is funny. It is as bad as complaining about tanks in 'World of Tanks'.
-
I've found hanging out above gv fights is a good way to rack up kills (on the endless A20s, jugs and lancs who try to bomb them)
-
I have shot down quite a few cons with the M2 pintle or the main gun, or like others have said, upped a wirb and wreaked havoc on the closely grouped low alt bombers. Plus staying on the move watching the planes final approach in their bomb run you can sometimes avoid the hit. Like others have said, bombing gv's was a WWII heavyweight. I am sure Patton and Montgomery would have loved a bombing halt in North Africa by Rommels Stuka support.
-

I think that fleshing out the ground game would probably be the next logical step for the game to take. At least if the goal is to create a simulated combined arms operation. I think the playerbase of the game hasn't had 'air combat' as their primary focus for many years now, but the mechanics for 'making war' are sorta bellybutton backwards in this game. In real life, the ground pounders ARE the focus - the other branches exist to support them. In AH, the game is set up for the planes to be the focus, but the players want the focus to be on taking bases. Planes can't occupy ground, so we get the awkward base taking mechanisms with the game focused around 'conquering' air bases.
If there was some way to shift the focus of the game to conquering strat, with the air bases being linked to the strat I think that would make more sense for the way the game is played now. Plus it would have the added benefit of moving the focus of the game from 'vulch or be vulched/horde or be horded' to a game where both sides are attacking or defending landmarks on the ground. Seems like it would be a better fit to me anyway.

When in bombers take a fighter escort. When in a tank take an FLAK/M16 buddy.
I was going to say something along these lines. I'd also point someone to read my sig. If somebody isn't happy because they can't conduct a proper tank battle on the wide-open plains, perhaps they should bring an escort????
-

<S>
Hate to break it to you bud, but for most people the game is fun only if the opponent doesn't have a chance.
-
Do what I do. Soon as you find a good GV fight like V88 to V85. Up a heavy fighter and kill the ords at A83 and GV in peace for 45 minutes. When ords come back up, pork them again. The trick is to find one other player willing to help keep ords down. The vast majority are unwilling to take the time to kill ords or troops or even grasp the importance or this simple act.

and they share no risk of dying? have you ever tried to divebomb a flak? i'd say that shares alot of "risk"

i think i dropped bombs on one tank the intire time ive been in AH, after he vulched me on runway, i dropped like 20 eggs on him finily getting him lol now we know why i dont drop eggs......lol

Stick a couple of Wirbs or Ostie in amongst the friendly tanks or get a couple of guys to provide air support. Problem mostly solved.
I GV a lot and I'm trying to figure out where those places are on the map that the spawns don't lead to an enemy base.
-
someone needs a hug . I go after the Flaks first since they pose the immediate threat.
-
Look at some of the GV base taking missions that folks post. They bring tanks, supps, and troops. They also bring wirbs to protect it all from heavy a/c defenders. As far as "open area" GV fights, find a tree or other natural cover from being seen from overhead. Or ask a friend or squaddie to up a wirb, osti , or M-16 to cover you.
Still, sounds like same whines different day.
-
Dropping bombs on tanks is what it is. Yeah, I too get frustrated when I drive out to a good battle only to get bombed by the guys whose tank I just blew up (you know who you are). But that is the game. :salute
My biggest 'wish' for the air to ground combat is that ground cover/concealment actually worked a bit better. The giant red icon flagging me for the enemy whether I am under a tree or not is the complaint that I have. If I have found a strategic location from which to engage in a fight, while having concealment from the air, it would be nice to not be given away by a large red "M4 1.5k"
Again, bombs are part of the game. Yes it is frustrating, but it is the game and it is part of what makes the game fun. I just wish tanks/GVs (themselves) were more visible from the air, but the ICON not.

Well, if HTC is paying attention to these threads, hopefully they will see an opportunity to increase overall customer satifaction by
1) Figuring out a way to make a small portion of each map relatively AC-free for those who want to "furball" GVs, and
2) Doing this without eliminating the legit opportunities for AC to attack tanks in conjunction with normal "win the war" activities on the remaining majority area of the map, and
3) Not allowing themselves to be distracted by rabid opposition to the above idea, from people intolerant of other points of view. BTW, before you accuse me of this latter crime, note item (2) above.

I like the idea on getting rid of the icon. Then the planes have to fly low and I may have a chance to pop them. I would leave the wirble icon visible from the air, because wirbles are a threat to planes, but planes would not see tank icons just to make it more difficult as you suggest. :aok

Hey this is the martix, they can do what they want. ;)

I usually have the recipient of my bomb lined up before icon
-
I feel your pain Vinkman....I have had sorties where no less than 50 bombs were dropped in vain trying to kill my Tiger.
I get this though because I usually have 50 kills and they dont want me to land.
And I can't say bombing gv's is wrong because I do it sometimes too...but it still really sucks when it happens to you.
Best solution is to remove icons from the air to give a gv a chance.
Refer to my avatar I created in the top left lol :D

I don't disagree with this as it is part of the game. Just don't start a whining thread because one of us tankers put an AP of HE round through your canopy or wing and start crying foul. :salute
Just love the fools in the low flying B25 and IL2s.... More fun than shooting other GVs. :devil

Or my personal favorite...shooting HE rounds into the ground as they pass over low...blows off there bits and pieces

See these two posts above, they get it. stop the whine and figure out a way to fight back.

JOKER did that to me as I was bombing another bishie close to him. I didn't complain, fair is fair.
I came back in a 38G and popped his Tiger. He logged. :D
-
A stationary tank in any but rough terrain is a very hard target to see.
Normally these tanks had camo with local terrain features.
I suggest only showing icons for planes for moving GV's.
I've been told by attack pilots they even have problems seeing stationary tank on pavement due to shadows, dark pavement etc.
I served in a tank from early 80's to the late 90's.

I could care less about tanks, but because of the two posts using the sorry "In WW2 they bombed tanks" line, something should be done. Just the stupidity of that argument demands a change. :
They died for real in WW2 as well. How bout one and done with your subscription based on WW2? :huh
-
I find pleasure in taking out a panzer between a group of 3 wirbles. Hmm, maybe I'm just a masochist?
-
So allied aircraft during WWII that were bombing/strafing axis tanks is unfair and wussie-scoring?
PUH-leeze
I don't remember hearing about any big red tag under a tank that could be seen from 1.5K away in real life. :airplane:
I don't care about GV eggers. I do care about the incredibly easy time it is to find a gv in this game. In real life, tanks traveled under concealment, and were attacked only when they broke cover. This is how the Germans concentrated 1,800 tanks prior to the Battle of the Bulge, when they had zero air superiority.
It is simply unrealistically easy to see a tank from the air in this game.

Wow. There is difference between game and reality. In reality, they bombed gvs. In reality they died. But in game, you have multiple lives. So why cant I bomb your gvs? I say get over it, learn to fight back, or find a solution. I personally would like to see GV icons removed or reduced to very short range. Yea, I get pissed off too when my gv gets egged. But I get over it.
-
If I find a GV only fight, I generally try to leave it alone, but... Just because you and a few others are just there for the fight, I find it hard to believe you are speaking for all the tanks involved at that point. Who's to say that in 10 minutes you'll overrun the spawn and start camping it (if I had any hesitation about bombing GVs, it's gone when you start camping a spawn)? Who's to say someone won't drop friendly hangers and everyone rushes the field for a take?
IMO, the MA's environment helps create these GV battles that you love. Even if there was a completely separate part of the map where no planes could get to and no bases could be captured, I betcha it would rarely be populated. Once someone comes on country shouting something about NOE here, raid inbound, GV raid, mission up, these guys are going to head for something else. How do these big GV fights get started now, attacking and defending bases. There is no incentive to keep the average player (who IMO dabbles in all aspects of the game and had a general caring about his country succeeding) from staying at a place like that.
Btw, I'm a terrible GVer, but I do love taking a Wirble up and reaping havoc or taking a fighter up and laying waste to bombers or low and slow Jugs.
-

Yes and no.
Today it is that way. When I started Ah 5 years ago that was different. Tank Town in the center Trinity, a place shielded from planes by 20k mountains, was the busiest place on that map. I learned tanking there (I still have more kills in Tiger than in any plane in AH). At any time you could bet that about 30% of all players where there (just like in any other Tank Town), sometimes more than 200 people spawning, camping, relocating, firing & dying.

Why do you think that is?
-
Why do you think that is?
Not because the players suddenly changed ;)
The concept of Tank Town was killed by two gameplay design descisions. First, as we had only small maps after the big arena split in late 2006, Trinity went away and only came back about two years later.
Shortly after that, the last surviving Tank Town area on (Ndisles) suffered from redesign and the big terrain update - Suddenly the spawns were much farther away, and the terrain was full of hedges. This effectively killed TT on Ndisles off, with only some slow scale action surviving.
And two years in AH is a lot of time. Few players stay here for that long, and when Trinity came back up, almost none remembered the very concept of Tank Town. I remember well: The moment Trinity loaded again for the first time, I immediately jumped to tank town. We were only about 5 players, all old-timers (Shawk was one of them). :cry
The tradition had been broken.
And now I read players asking for a seperate "furballing" GV area, while the dedicated place we do have for it is being completely unused.

As a gv, you're not provided an icon for enemy tanks, only for friendlies. Why can't airplanes have that same limitation?

+1 to this :aok
-
As a gv, you're not provided an icon for enemy tanks, only for friendlies. Why can't airplanes have that same limitation?
Because the visual limitations of the game make seeing from the ground and seeing from the air very different. When was the last time you were in an airplane, even at thousands of feet in the air, you can see traffic moving and even follow a specific vehicle. That just isn't possible in the game, so there has to be a handicap. It wasn't too long ago that HTC shortened those distances to 1.5 to make it more difficult for aircraft to find GVs.
I would support a camouflage change, where GVs could actually hide from aircraft. The more concealed you are, the shorter your icon is visible to fighters, not sure how feasible that is though.
-
That just isn't possible in the game, so there has to be a handicap.
There is one. You can hear them. Plane engines (and their sounds) start stop in a second. Hear low flying Il-2's shutting off their engine "listening" for enemy tanks in AH. (I always think of the gunner in an Il-2 sitting there with his headset on like a sonar operator in a submarine... "Tiger at 2 o'clock... long distance, getting closer!" :lol
So without enemy icons, moving tanks would be are still easy to locate... only non moving ones would be much harder to find, unless they start to fire.
-
See these two posts above, they get it. stop the whine and figure out a way to fight back.
I believe they are refering to strafing runs. Fair game because the tank can take them out with pintl or main gun. I was refering to vertical bombing where the tank has no chance, let a lone a sporting chance. :salute

Gawd I'm so tired of the GV guys whining. The get to "spawn" mircaculously an entire sector, or in some cases several sectors away
to a battlefield, whereas fighters and bombers have to invest the time flying there. They get to be miraculously repaired with the mere
picking up of "supplies' on a battlefield. They get to hide behind bushes which are capable of stopping a 88mm HV round.
On the bright side, my personal belief is that a great number of 'em will wander off into the sunset when World Of Tanks
is released.
But don't despair GV guys: I'm going to make a prediction that right about the same time as the Panther is released in here
that you're going to see an "only GVs" arena appear.
-

It's easier to descipher a tank from another, it's harder to tell a difference from, spit5,8,9's same as 109's and jugs

theres more to it than that bud. tanks used to have icons. it made the GV warfare to easy for both attacker and defender also. without enemy icons, it makes the defenders have the advantage they should have and sit and wait and shoot the enemy when THEY want to. it allows for tactics that you used to not be able to do. in the air, the icons are needed for a few reasons.

I've seen one guy travel from our friendly hanger spawn for gvs and he went one whole sector just to die 1st shot :x poor fella some noob, never seen him after. i tried talking to him n typing to him but got no response.
To get rid a this plane vs tank thingy ask TXMOM how to end it :aok i tried killing her in her panzer with my b25h and...nvmd.

well depending on the type of attack, how many Attackers, if none of our GV's are spawned in i will up my 38 with bombs and bomb them back to there spawn untill friendly GV's spawn in, then ill stay in the air and provide air cover for Our GV's against incoming aircon's, stay in the air till i have to rearm, then get back up

I suggest only showing icons for planes for moving GV's.
I like that idea. :aok

I do not need the icon to find a target. I see vehicles and I am going to kill them whether its a whirbl or someone's precious Tiger( :t). That is how is this guy likes to have his fun and what makes it even sweeter is the relentless whines( :cry) about vehicles being killed by a bomb..... boooooooo whoooooooooooooooo( :cry x 2)... up a damn 2 pick 2 and kill me. And by all means quote me on this!
-
Tank vs AA vehicle. No contest so don't do it.
Tank vs troop carrier. No contest so don't do it.
AA vehicle vs early war fighter. No contest so don't do it.
And so on and so on.
Those "rules" are not the nature of an MMO battlefield game. Other players will affect your gameplay experience.
-
I don't see any problem with leaving the guys having a genuine tank battle alone, and just bombing the GV's that pose some sort of threat to my team: taking a town, camping a spawn, whatever.
It's a bummer to spend all that time driving somewhere to have a good GV fight just to get bombed. I suppose it's sort of like someone jumping in and "helping" you during a 1v1 without asking first.
I'll keep your suggestion in mind Vinkman!
<S>
:airplane: I take into consideration the friendly GVer driving a long way to kill a NME GV so will usually spot for friendly and not bomb UNLESS friendly gets killed then will drop on NME GV.
-
I have been thinking this over a bit more, If you shoot in a GV , you should 'earn' your icon back for aeroplanes to look @ for x seconds in addition to moving target icon.
The reason is that smoke from shooting GV's are very easy to spot until smoke dissipates, and also prevents spawncamping to some extent.
For GV's smoke should be shown , if it does not already - look link below

just get better at main gunning planes, I use the M4 for it's rapid fire and drive my tank partially on a hill so I can get my turret to face vertical. Main gun a plane from 2k away and they'll get the message soon enough :aok
that or up a whirble as cover for your friendlies, planes hate whirbles. I personally think I get 60 to 75% of my gv kills by knocking planes out of the sky, and I love it.

I upped twice yesterday at a6 lasted about 2 seconds. So I brought an il2 cleaned up all the campers.went hone by the time I went home and upped again I got killed within 2 seconds.

Well this is to all the people who think bombing GV's at a spawn battle is ok.
Tonight at the spawn battle at 85 the rooks had it camped pretty well. There wasn't a bish plane egging the entire time i was there but yet there was at least 5 rook planes egging the spawn.
They can't even use 'base defense' as an excuse this time. 85 was a bish base.. its just the fact that it was some downright sorry players that can't leave the GV's alone to duke it out.
So the rooks not only had the spawn mostly camped but were egging away to
I really enjoy the Gving in the game when there's no one around egging every GV in sight. But the player base will keep me away from this game forever. I tried to come back but i'm gone again and won't be back.
-
Seems to me that most of the guys bombing gv's are the ones that were in gv's earlier & were getting owned. :noid
-
There is a diffrence between upping an A20( :D) to making a gv'er cry and upping a formation of lancs and carpet bombing the spawn. bomb**** is used like it supposed to be offensive or something to that effect. Main gun shot attempts are funny, whirbls are not even issue anymore. What is downright SORRY is the relentless whines about it. Some of you whine worse then my kids.( I am going stoke this fire some more :devil)
-
I understand that the GV'rs want to get their tank on and get upset when people are dropping eggs on their heads while they are trying to get said "tank" on. Personally, I don't know how you guys think its fun to sit in a tank and wait. I even see even less fun sitting at a spawn and hitting some one before they even have a chance to defend themselves. Its kinda like vulching (and yes I have been guilty of vulching every once in a while, especially when we are trying to take a base). Heck, I break out in a weird rash every time I get in a GV.
However, us guys in the in the air like to exercise another dimension to cartoon air combat and that is the air/ground interdiction. Its challenging (esp. when you have lots of wirbies in the area protecting the tanks) and fun.
My suggestion is if you get bombed, up a wirbie or osti. If you think its easy to drop a bomb and survive against these think again (it takes effort on my behalf not to get buzz sawed). Another option is to call in for fighter cover. If this happens, now we have a multi dimensional fight and that's always great fun.
Finally, I guess I don't understand why people continue to spawn in to a place where you have little or no chance to get a shot off before you die. I was overhead at 85 last night so I had a ring side seat. I had no bombs so I stuck around to watch the melee. Guys who spawned in would get hit in 4 or 5 different directions before they even had a chance to spin their turrets. How is this fun for the guy getting killed. Yet, they kept coming back again and again.
-
( I am going stoke this fire some more :devil)
For whatever reason, the GV crowd in AH has developed into the biggest group of whining bleaters
ever collected under one cupola. I'm thinking Tomcat that a dedicated A20 tankbusting group
be formed up for a week with each pilot in it changing his squadron name to : "Thank Killer91"
As a matter of fact, I'll be in the MA shortly. I'm thinking Mossie XVI with the four-thousand
pounder. :)
-
That hasn't been true since the past patch or the one before it. gv vs. gv = 1.5k icons. However it does seem to be very intermittent. Sometimes they are there, other times they are not.... Or actually, it might have been with the update, but fixed with the patch. Anybody?

I'm gonna assume you don't GV much.. I really don't mind upping at a camped spawn and dying over and over because I know I'm gonna get at least a few kills. Really its quite fun to break a camp and take over the spawn. At least I stand a chance though, tank vs tank. Heck I killed at least 1 tiger last night by upping at a camped spawn and maybe a second one but I don't remember.. but when you you start egging a spawn that your team already has camped, thats what blows my mind. and seeing that its camped no way I'm gonna up a wirb. Then I have no chance against any tank. There's no reason to bring eggs to a spawn battle other than somebody intending to ruin the fun of others.
But whatever, I'm done with this thread and I'm for sure done with the game. I got better things to do than deal with idiots on the internet.

Oddball-CAF, Tomcat21, and similar personalities,
I infer from your posts that you are in opposition to changing the GV rules (??). It therefore seems strange that you seem to be doing everything in your power to make things worse, thereby adding validity to the GVer complaints. Kind of dumb behavior on your part, isn't it?

So it's cool to get drilled over and over by multiple spawn campers but if a heavy fighter or attack plane bombs you once, that makes you log? This makes no sense at all. :huh
Point blank spawn gang bang = good
bombing tanks = bad
Now I understand.

You would also think after a while they would bring a Whirble with them.......... HOLY SMOKES.... Bring a gv that fires bullets, into the sky!!! Crazy? Perhaps.... :D

If bombing GV's is considered low and shouldn't be done then I want the community to explain why clubbing my B25C like a baby seal is ok? As a B25 Fighter Pilot I demand that people respect my fun and fly their fighters slow and always in front of me so I have a sporting chance. :cry

Should've been on earlier. Exactly opposite of what you're whining about.
What you "don't tase me in my GV bro!" guys don't seem to realize is that by diving in and egging a tank, that fighter puts himself in a bad situation as well. If there's a con with even a little alt in the area, he's easy pickins.

A constructive comment: I still see utility in defining and supporting *** 2 *** GV modes, as described below. I have personally enjoyed playing in both modes, at different times:
Mode (1): GV win-the-war mode style of play, where anything allowed by the game is accepted without complaint or whine, and harassing GVs with AC or wirbles on airbases is OK.
Mode (2): GV furball mode style of play, where AC would be either absent or constrained by game mechanics not yet specified. In my opinion, the game does not currently consistently support this mode (2), and any suggestions as to how to add such support, without eliminating mode (1) would be appreciated.
