He doesn't have to look at all your whining and sobbing and crying.
He doesn't have to supply this game with constant updates and changes.
He doesn't have to keep his servers up and running for you to play in.
He chooses to. Get over yourselves, it's pathetic.
Offer articulate, thought out suggestions. Stop with the "ARENA
CAPS SUCK!!1!" nonsense.
End of rant.

It's not like AH if free, so people are just demanding more for their money.
Ah and you gave me a great idea for the wishlist, we need a section on the forum for all the whining (so HTC would not waist their time looking at it). :aok
-
HTC may know you don't like it.. but unless you have something constructive to add, like a half baked idea... complaining isn't going to do anything.

It's not like you're being forced to pay, either.
Right, but people want to have a good WWII simulator. As there is nothing really out there that's better than AH, that's exactly what they (we) have.

Perhaps you should lay off the weed there buddy.

Again, they're not being forced to pay.
I believe we're deviating from the OP, however.

He's a businessman who makes his living providing entertainment to paying customers. Sure, he doesn't have to care what those customers think, but if he wants his business to do well he'd be pretty foolish not to.

Who's to say this is where he makes his living?
If he wanted money, I'm sure he would have put his skills to use elsewhere by now.

Hitech really DOESN'T have to do what he does. Honestly guys, would any of you cancel your subs if another update never came? I wouldn't, because nothing out there comes close to AHII.

Agreed, and furthermore, this is his passion. I believe he made his money when he sold War birds to wild Bill, notice how HTC's website makes no mention of any VC firms or angle investors?

HTC said a while back it was a merger with bill. not a sale. he walked from that to make this

He also doesn't have to reply to any of these posts. He chooses to do so. To me that is 'one on one' with the customer, and that is a good base to touch on. He listens to our wishes, whether they are ridiculous or not. How long has that B-29 been wished for? Well we got it, but I don't see it in the air so much. Been flying all night and all I see is B-17's and Lancs. (love that b-17)
The people involved in making this game happen, whether it be Skuzzy or HiTech and many others, take the time to answer some of our outlandish suggestions, or complaints about this and that. You want to lose contact with people that's providing you're entertainment, go play AA3. It's free, but you won't have this kind of relationship with the people who made the game in the first place.
Just sayin', don't lose focus.

HTC said a while back it was a merger with bill. not a sale. he walked from that to make this
If you want to pay $35. here is the doc on the merger.
I briefly looked over it the preview, basically I looks as if there was 10 million shares in stock, with about 5 mill in outstanding. Baring that ~1% was reserved for employee intensive plans, aka stock options. It looks like all their options got converted to preferred 'A' shares of Wild Bills co. at an exchange ratio of 0.2592. I'm not sure how much thats worth (would need to look up historical prices on NASDAQ:IMGK, ticker is no longer valid), but either way, Hitech is a sharp guy and I'm sure he got a more than decent deal....
Also, Hitech may have been bound via contract to say at INTERACTIVE CREATIONS/iMagic for a period of time as is often the case, as its people & intellectual property that is really what the other company is going for as well as the game itself.

Who is to say that it is not?
Who is to say that this game is not a cash cow?
Perhaps he is just content, unlike a lot of customers. The worst part of owning most businesses is the customers.
If I was making a living developing a niche-market video game that did not have anything resembling close competition, which was played by folks worldwide (that have developed a crack-like addiction to it), with only a handful of staff to pay, owned my own plane, lived somewhere warm, had a cute little wife and a youngin' on the way, I would tell you all to kiss my bellybutton and that you could get your updates and wishes fulfilled when I was damn good and ready.
So... be glad that I do not own the joint. :aok

You guys think you have it rough here? ROFLMAO
Been playing a fair amount of World of Tanks lately.
Aces High WoT
Made in USA Dev's are in Belrussia (distributors in London)
HT reads AH forums regularly Dev's read Russian language forums.
HT responds directly to some posts Paid gopher named Overlord once in a while will post on english forums.
HT will change FM, modeling if you can Wot tanks balanced by game statistics. So if lots of unskilled noobs use
come up with correct data from good a russian tank poorly Dev's balance by Nerfing US or German tanks.
source.
When AH population got big, HT split arena's So you could choose between early, mid, late war
Arena's. Yes you might have squad mates, and friends in different arena's. But you could still talk to them.
When WoT population got big they split Servers. But you can only choose once.
After the split if you got on the wrong server you'd have to delete game, reinstall, try again.
All of those who chose the other server you can no longer talk to, join game with, etc.
AH is Client side, ie most of the work is done on your machine, so what you see is what you get.
WoT is Server side, so too many people on the server means you get BIG lag spikes.
Connect would go from 60ms to 999 in the middle of a battle for 2 min. When it straightened out you were dead.
Flying AH you may encounter some lag, but its not happening to everyone on the server at the same time.
And its not a result of the AH server being overloaded.
In short, you guys over here are S P O I L E D!
Enjoy what you have!
And a big <S> to HT and Staff of HTC!

I don't like arena splitting. Why?
I will not give the answer but something more interesting - I hope.
Arena splitting effects are not all negative, and the positive ones are also good for me!
So, if from a certain point o view i don't like arena splitting, from another point of view
arena splitting effects are welcome for me.
:O
On the question about they way in which arena splitting is done, i think that we don't give to HTC a
correct information about why we need to have a different arena splitting modality,
For me, for example, I have a strange kind of lag when i play in blu arena.
Respect to other arenas, I must fly in blue arena for more time to avoid it but in this time interval i am shot down more then usual. So i prefer to fly in orange arena.
In past time i went in the other two arena EA and Mid Arena because I can take some base by my self.
We had good ground targets for just one pilot or a couple of them.
Not so today.
About this I wrote some suggestions that was not
so well discussed I think, but after all in some aspects the time gave some credit to them. :D
For the other aspects i could be appreciate, doing some research, how they
are limited by technology - for example: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,176625.0.html -
and obviously by AH itself as an HTC product.

If he wanted money, I'm sure he would have put his skills to use elsewhere by now.

HiTech
-
HTC has my money for as long as I can afford to pay regardless if I am playing or not, its something worth paying for and I'm interested to see where it goes.
Now down to the serious questions who would win Hitech vs Wild Bill in F14 Tomcats a la Top Gun! :D
-
Don't worry about WoTs, barring a heart attack on HiTech's part, I can see this sim coming to set a standard for tank combat in the future...and this in something that started out as a flying sim.
Forgive me for waxing lyrical, but the AHII experience shows what *all* businesses could be like if choices were made by the people on the front line doing the work, not by executive parasites at corporate.
-
Hitech really DOESN'T have to do what he does. Honestly guys, would any of you cancel your subs if another update never came? I wouldn't, because nothing out there comes close to AHII.
I cancelled mine because of to much monkeying around with arenas. It made game play unbearably boring for the times that I flew. However it has made it better for others. It's unfortunate because there were allot of cool updates that I have never seen. So unless it changes to something closer to the way it was, I don't think I'll be coming back. They can add all the neat stuff in the world to this game but if game play is boring it won’t make a bit of difference.
-
Every dime I have is invested in this company along with a lot of other peoples.
HiTech
As I had suspected.
As most ventures of this type are.
I can't imagine that it is easy to get a loan for something of this nature:
"I want to make a video game"
"It will be as, or more addictive than, crack cocaine"
"No, it is not a hyped-up, regurgitated version of a FPS with a different name."
"No, not jet fighters. WWII warbirds is what we had in mind"
"No it won't have a lot of eye-candy, or compel users to buy uber computers to run it. We will be focusing more on the flight model and trying to make it as accurate as possible all while making it playable on the computer that the average human can afford, within reason"
"Yes, our staff members will personally watchdog the forums and respond to reports, wishes and tech support in a timely and courteous fashion even though they are up to their tulips in development work"
"No, we will be running most of the game on the client's computer instead of letting our servers get bogged down and telling the customer "Tough Shoes, you get what you get when the servers are packed" or "Sorry, we know that you have friends you want to play the game with but you picked the wrong server (when you had a one-time choice of servers at 1st log-in, so screw you, that's the way the cookie crumbles"
"No, we won't be smearing our logo feces on every channel, all the time and No, there will not be some massive marketing push, we are going to select the right time and place for our advertisements"
"Yes, you read that part correctly, we will only be charging $14.95/month"
If you would have come to me with that small business plan, I would have pissed my pants laughing.

Funny (CYA post about sarcasm aside), but rarely, if ever, do I see a please or thank-you associated with most of the wishlist items.
The last I heard, Texas is one of the last bastions of civility and manners in this country.
A little humility and politeness can go a long way, sometimes. A lot further than rude demands, baseless complaints/whines and sarcasm will.

Joe, No offense, but these kinds of post always make me scratch my head.
Why do you feel you need to speak for what HTC wants?
I'm confident in his ability to handle that himself.

He stated facts.
There is no law that states that HT has to concede to any of our wishes, update the game, or even host this forum (even for non-players), for free.
It may well be in his best interests to do so if they want to stay competitive and solvent, but in no way is it required.

Von, you lost me. I think the point of the original post was to procede to explain HTC's position. I was wondering why people do that?
Is it to engraciate themselves to Dale?
Is it because they think Dale can't get his own message out?
Is it because they are affraid all the harsh whining will cause Dale to pack it in one day in an act of exasperation?
Curious as to the reason, and offered that it was unnecessary.
Did I read that wrong? If so, my appologies. :salute

yes he does. all that "whining and sobbing and crying" is what tells hitech what people do and dont want.
especially when you have people quiting the game over it. you might see it as "good riddance,n00bs". but to him it prob looks like a loss of $$$.
He doesn't have to supply this game with constant updates and changes
yes he does. if he wants to stay above his competition. you dont think IL2 is constanly releasing updates &chances?
AH is lacking alot of features&aircraft other games have, so if he wants to effectivly compete with them, he needs to keep "supplying this game with constant updates and changes"
He doesn't have to keep his servers up and running for you to play in.
yes he does, if he wants to earn $$$ for his creation. no one is going to pay to play a game with no online servers.
just my $0.02
btw, i love how you created a thread to whine about whining. kinda sticking your own foot in your mouth bud.

bolded.....how true this is.
i just kicked a guy out of my office this morning. why? because he came in, interrupted me as i was chatting with a customer......and demanded to know where an address was. i knew exactly where it was, and told him that "no, i don't know where anything you want is if you're going to interrupt and be rude like that.", and went to finish with my customer. he repeated himself....only louder.....so i told him no, and to get out of my office.
had he waited the 35 seconds it'd have taken me to finish chatting with my customer, he'd have been on his way, and to the place he was looking for in less than 5 minutes.
i don't like people like that........can't stand em.......
-
What people need to keep in mind is that changes to the game that seem so simple and desirable to the person wanting them can create other unforeseen issues with other players.
HTC has to strike the best balance and that is not an easy thing to do.
To relate my experience of what I thought would be the best way to go, when I first started this game, I was disappointed that the main focus of the game was not historical Axis vs Allies game play.
As time went on, I came to realize that the LW unrestricted plane arenas were necessary and that a strictly Axis V
Allies format would not have the largest appeal to the widest range of players.
I began to see that my best course of action was to get involved and try my best to help populate the AvA to a point that it would compliment rather than replace any other arena.
That it could be a change of pace for some and another option for those that enjoy the history aspect.
I am a big fan of AvA, and think it has an important place here, but now realize it needs to be another option and not the only one.
The balance and compromise that HTC has to implement cannot be everything for everyone, it just has to work best for most.

Fist lets flip this. Why do you post anything about their behavior?
Is it because you wish to make yourself an enemy of Dale?
Is it because you think Dale will get his message out?
Is it because you are afraid that any support of Dales ideas will make them more likely to come to fruition?
I'm curious why you make such a post that is completely unnecessary.
If I have read you post wrong please accept my apologies.

an enemy of the Dale. Is that like an enemy of the State? of Aces High?
-
"Enemy of the Dale"
sounds like a movie title, actually.
-
Fwiw, I love this game - ok, maybe not the game itself, but the community behind it. I cant think of any other game where the owner/developer comes on the board, and directly communicates with the community.
Everyone has a different idea where this game should go, me personally, I'm quite happy to leave that to the HTC crew, and just play.

That's all that most of it is, whining and sobbing. "I want it my way and I want it now" Like a 2 year old. The ones that whine and quit because of it aren't long for this game anyhow as it does not supply the "instant gratification" that the x-box crowd longs for. If you were in business yourself, you would understand that there are some people out there whose money isn't worth taking as they will never be happy or grateful and will always think that they are owed more for their money but once you take their money, you are committed to trying to appease them as much as the grateful and satisfied customers.
yes he does. if he wants to stay above his competition. you dont think IL2 is constanly releasing updates &chances?

If you haven't noticed, this game does not have any direct competition. It is an anomaly when compared to most other flight sims. Sure, the eye-candy is not the same as others, but HTC tries to stay as true as possible to the flight model of the real-world a/c depicted in the game. In the past 5 years, I have had nothing but a positive consumer experience with this company, from the receptionist to the CEO (who btw, answers a lot of posts, personally) See if you can get the CEO from CapCom, Nintendo, Elec. Arts to respond to a post on their forums or, for that matter, respond to you personally by any means of communication, electronic or otherwise. I'd wager that the arenas would be populated for a good two years after HTC stopped updating the game
yes he does, if he wants to earn $$$ for his creation. no one is going to pay to play a game with no online servers.
"if he wants to earn $$$ for his creation" Yes.... IF. What if he decided to retire, felt that he has made enough money, gets tired of the hassle of running his own company and wants to anonymously write lines of coad for some big gaming company where the only responsibility he has to worry about is going to work and shining a seat with his ass? I only speculate, but I would like to think that, besides the money, what keeps him going is his love of aviation and affinity for the warbirds that were produced during this era of flight
just my $0.02
btw, i love how you created a thread to whine about whining. kinda sticking your own foot in your mouth bud.

yes he does. all that "whining and sobbing and crying" is what tells hitech what people do and dont want.
tyrannis...sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. the childish temper tantrums are the ones that get ignored, even if the issue is legitimate...most aren't but there is not getting away from immature people on the retardnet.
especially when you have people quiting the game over it. you might see it as "good riddance,n00bs". but to him it prob looks like a loss of $$$.
people come and go all the time...the romper room immature types are the most visible...and strangely, it's never a problem with the individual doing all the foot stomping and screaming...even though the rest of the world can see it is.
yes he does. if he wants to stay above his competition. you dont think IL2 is constanly releasing updates &chances?
AH is lacking alot of features&aircraft other games have, so if he wants to effectivly compete with them, he needs to keep "supplying this game with constant updates and changes"
are you seriously comparing ah to il2? you really like crawling out on a limb without thinking...il2 is packaged as a single player flight sim with multiplayer capabilities...neither ubisoft nor maddox host massive multiplayer servers...and player hosted servers have a limit based on the connection speed of the host...they will produce game patches to fix most common glitches until the newest add-on/version of the game is due for release...then all support stops...just like any other retail game creator.
every aircraft in the il2 series uses the flight characteristics of a single model...modify a few points here and there, then call it good...they count on the ill informed young person that buys the games to not notice the difference...and the graphics are not that great...don't have to be, they get your money up front and whatever happens after that is tough luck.
il2 is no more competition for ah than wow is...the closest "competitor" is the outdated, poorly supported warbirds.
you should really learn more about such things...

Is it because they are affraid all the harsh whining will cause Dale to pack it in one day in an act of exasperation?
Curious as to the reason, and offered that it was unnecessary.
Did I read that wrong? If so, my appologies. :salute

I wonder if HTC ever feels like a babysitter...
"I don't wanna go to bed... I don't wanna go to bed, My mommy lets me stay up..."
much like....
"I wanna have arena caps, I don't wanna have arena caps, my mommy doesn't give me arena caps..."
-
Fist lets flip this.
HiTech
Because 97% of the time I've seen someone envoke what you believe, you come in and correct them. So let's cut out the middle man and just let you do it.

Von, you lost me. I think the point of the original post was to procede to explain HTC's position. I was wondering why people do that?

delayed double post? :headscratch:
you do realize that he could just tell skuzzy to lock or delete all whine posts...especially the most juvenile ones without any word or explanation. sometimes it's healthy for a community to self police a bit...it's one thing to be told to shut up by the company, but having a (for lack of a better word) "peer" saying it gives a different impact.
it's really amazing the complete loss of proper perspective supposed adults have when it comes to this game...hopefully the ones with the toddler mentality don't have children to influence...there are enough stupid people on the planet already.
-

No

Want to hear Dale's message...just want to here it from DALE , not folks who claim to speak for what Dale believes.
Is it because you are afraid that any support of Dales ideas will make them more likely to come to fruition?
Dale's Ideas always come to fruition. I'm a big supporter of DALE
I'm curious why you make such a post that is completely unnecessary.
He's posting to tell us how you feel about how we make posts. It seemed valid to ask him how he know's how you feel, and if you gave him permission to speak for you by proxy.

<snip>
Somebody else is already doin that gig, and they've been around just about as long as HT has (and yes, it's another TEXAS based company), and I don't think HT wants to be raining on their parade, atleast not directly anyways, as both companies are just about in the same boat!
...you do realize that he could just tell skuzzy to lock or delete all whine posts...<snip>
You do realise that he could just do that himself, if he wanted to, since he is actively participating in said post/threads!
Just sayin!

So you hang around on the BBS hoping for what?
-
rino, it's easier to just ignore the people like toetag that troll the forums...the whole "game play got boring because htc did <insert>" is just as much of an excuse as the "i can't get into <arena> with my squad because of caps" poop...i guess the old analogy "if it hurts when you slap yourself in the face, stop slapping yourself" just goes over some people's heads.

Excuse me how is it poop again? If the arena is capped youre blocked from joining the same arena with the others and left with the option to a) play alone and b) play on an arena thats practically empty
You do understand that the problem hits mainly the people whose prime time occurs when lwoh splits? You may never experience it on your timezone so youre in false perception of the situatiion. Give it 2-4 hours after the split and both arenas have a fight rolling again. The dead zone just hits euro players.
So how is it poop? whats your magical solution to join the squad and have both arenas filled with playable numbers? I know i gave mine already.

you assume i've never gotten caught by the arena cap issue...stop assuming.
my squad isn't beyond jumping out of the capped arena to join me in the other one...and i'm not beyond jumping in the low population arena for a while until my squad mates in the capped arena tells me that there are openings for me to jump into...
do whatever you want to justify the childish rants in your own mind...i'm an adult and i place the significance of events in a video game into proper perspective...i make my own fun and a truly minor inconvenience in a video game has far less impact on my life than any number of real life occurrences that are more important. for $15 a month unlimited access whenever i want, i'm adult enough to tolerate some inconveniences.

You sure like to use hyperboles a lot. Other than the EW and MW arenas, which ones are practically empty when you can't get into Orange? It certainly isn't Blue arena as that one is almost as populated and sometimes (depending on the map) has more numbers than Orange.
If you're going to try and present a thoughtful argument to support your position, don't use hyperboles to try and prove your point.

To say this is an exaggeration would almost be an understatement.
Empty arena that needs 2-4 hours until the fight gets rolling? Yes, we had this... on weekdays after the cap kicked in... before the offhours/peak arena system was implemented. Since then? Absolutely not. You are starting to make things up... which doesn't help your cause at all.
Not liking the caps myself at all , I should be sympathetic to your crusade ... but by looking at all your recent posts about that topic I have the feeling your just digging yourself a hole deeper and deeper...

Lets put this in a perspective I think many of you can grasp.
(For Scenario purposes smoking is not harmful for you health)
You and your significant other are out at a restaurant. You walk in and request a booth verse the a table. The hostess tells you "It will be 20min before a seat is available in the non smoking section. But I can seat you in the smoking section right now." You now have three choices: 1) Wait for your seat 2) Sit in the smoking section and be served immediately 3) Go somewhere else that may not be a high quality establishment.
So far, most of BBS post have been choice 4) Complain to the owner that the seats were not ready for them. Basically the "Me Me Me Me" types.
Perhaps instead of being the "Me Me Me" types you could make a logical, non emotional post, that will help the issue (not that I think there is one).
And to Dale and the crew at HTC. You guys do an amazing job at providing great entertainment, for amazing price. I can't think of many things that the price has changed in the last 5-6 years (maybe longer but that's how long I've been a happy customer.)
-
Hitech really DOESN'T have to do what he does. Honestly guys, would any of you cancel your subs if another update never came? I wouldn't, because nothing out there comes close to AHII.
That's just it, there is nothing else out there that comes close to AH. But if Il-2 suddenly opened up some massive servers or another decent flight sim came out that chose to fill our requests, you can bet there would be an exodus. As someone already said, it's foolishness not to listen.
Nobody in this game wants to give hitech a hard time, but many of us played this game when there were no caps and considered it bliss compared to now. And NOBODY ever heard a single person declaring "there are too many people, PLEASE SPLIT THE ARENAS! IT'S TOO UNHEALTHY IN HERE. IT'S A CESSPOOL IN HERE" Oh but things are great now!
-
You and your significant other are out at a restaurant.
What a silly analogy! You're comparing meatspace with cyberspace. The restaurant owner can't just snap his fingers and create room for you wherever you like. If he could, and chose not to just because he thought the customers were better off being exposed to cigarette smoke regardless of their stated preferences, a lot people would quite sensibly take offense and take their business elsewhere.
(Assuming for purposes of this discussion that the number of people playing this game rarely if ever approaches hard limits on server space, given that Titanic Tuesday seems to run fine.)

Most people have no clue just how far you (and the others) have stuck your neck out in doing so. I hope you feel AH has been worth it, to a great many of us it has been. I've just begun my 4th year of subscribing.
I still think you should enlist a horde of local college programming students to code aircraft and gv re-models, make new skins, make new maps, and do "coading" otherwise able to be performed by the less experienced. ;)

I think you missed the point, it was a little obscure, but I thought most would get the point.
I did 5.Oh, and I find myself in agreement. It was a good analogy IMHO.
-
I think you missed the point,
I got the point just fine. It was a silly point. You're comparing completely different situations: in one, the fact being complained of - there aren't any empty tables in the nonsmoking section at the moment - is entirely beyond the control of the manager, so making a fuss about it is pointless and juvenile; in the other - arena caps - the situation is not only 100% under the control of the manager, it is wholly the creation of the manager, so complaining about it is perfectly rational.
If the restaurant manager had plenty of empty seats (and accompanying waitstaff) in both sections he could make available at any time he chose, but simply chose not to because he felt it was better for the customer to be forced to wait even when there's no need, your analogy might make some sense in this context. But that would make the restaurant owner look a little less reasonable and the complaining customer a lot more reasonable, wouldn't it? But that's exactly what's going on here - there's no staffing or server limitation that makes caps necessary, there's no shortage of space in any arena, letting ten more people into Orange wouldn't require hiring more employees or knocking down a wall or kicking out anyone who was already there. Unlike people demanding to get into a full restaurant section, people who want to enter Orange aren't asking to go ahead of anyone in line or take the table of someone already there, they aren't asking to be given special privileges. I've never seen a single poster ask or demand that the arena caps be made inapplicable to him and only him regardless of the rules for others.
(There's also the nontrivial distinction that smoking/nonsmoking is a matter of health and law while arena caps aren't. And I recognize that Hitech isn't doing this on a whim just to annoy players, he feels it is necessary to maintain a correct environment. I just disigree vehemently that the cap system as it exists serves that purpose adequately and with as little annoyance as possible.)
Comparisons to mommies, kids, and dessert are just as silly. The customers of HTC are not dependent children begging for freebies, with parents who make decisions for them because they aren't competent to make those decisions themselves, they are adults and paying customers who expect the folks whose livelihood they are providing to provide satisfactory service in return. The kids whining for dessert aren't the ones who put dinner on the table. HTC's customers are. The game wouldn't last a day longer without their paid subscriptions than it would without Hitech, Skuzzy, and the rest of the HTC staff. Fortunately I think the latter understand this perfectly well even if some folks posting here don't seem to.
So yes, I am grateful for the work Hitech and the gang have put into giving us this game; I enjoy it greatly and I can honestly say it has enriched my life and introduced me to some great friends. In general I think they've done a bang-up job and created something that is at least as much a work of art as a business model. :salute But still, it is a pay service, and that makes me (and everyone else here) a customer of their business, not a child, begger, social guest, or other beneficiary of charity, and that changes the rules - especially with regard to complaints and suggestions.

That is an average of 72 hours/month over the last 3 months. I can see why you have any reason to complain
744 hours/month * 3 months = 2232 hours
If one could play 24/7, one would be paying ~ $0.02/hour to play
Since the average in this case is 72 hours/month , you are paying ~ $0.21/hour for this entertainment.
Not bad considering cable TV is about $30/month for basic service, PPV movies ~$5.00, or a trip to a movie theater ~ $15-20 (sans food, mind you)
Really? Your average time logged on rivals the lions share of 2 weeks worth of work at a normal job (or 1 month's worth for a part-time job) and your ohh-hoo is bleeding that you "can't log in and have any fun"?
Rehash:
744 hours/month
The average person will spend 217 of those hours sleeping (avg. 7hours/night)
Down to 527 hours now
Subtract 160 hours spent working (Avg, 40 hrs/week and 5 day work week. I work minimum 50 hours so I'm being generous)
Now @ 367 hours...
Subtract another hour/day for personal hygiene/commute time (20)
Now @ 347 hours...
Subtract time to prepare/eat meals (giving 30 min on weekdays and 1 hour/day on weekends so 18 hours)
Now @ 339 hours...
Subtract 15 minutes/day for bathroom/refreshment time (assuming you don not have a beer tap next to the computer and you are not urinating/defecating in a slop bucket on the floor next to you) So 7.75 (8 hours)
Now @ 331 hours of free time/month for the average person (assuming you have no kids/wife that you must commit your time to, house to maintain, bills to pay, etc)
Avg 72 hrs/month logged on of an average of 331 hours of free time...
~ 20% or 1/5 of your free time has been spent playing this game for $0.21/hour and you are going to complain about the conditions in which you are "forced" to play under?
There is a word or two that can be used to describe these types of customers.
Whiners or Ingrates.
Take your pick...

well, since you asked. maybe i'm not seeing it in the proper light but, since you no longer hold an active paying subscription, you're not a stake holder. you felt the changes that had been made up to the point where you stopped your active subscription were enough to "ruin the gameplay for you". you stop your subscription and bid farewell to people you care to say goodbye to, and call it quits, end of story. but then you continue to peruse the forums, which in itself is good to keep up with current happenings, maybe get a few laughs. but then for whatever reason you determine it's appropriate to interject your "opinion" into a subject or subjects that have zero effect on you. what could you possibly hope to gain, sympathy? or are you secretly hoping htc will feel the need to ask you what ruined the gameplay for you and change it so you reactivate your account?
i have to ask, do you ever go into a retail store that you don't normally shop at and tell the management "i don't shop here but i don't like your <insert>"??? because that is essentially what you did in this discussion. it's not just you either, there are others who feel the need to do the same thing all over these forums. i'm sorry but that does seem just as childish as throwing a temper tantrum in the forums. like a little kid at day care that is watching all the other kids have fun but because they won't play the way he wants them to he sits in the corner throwing a fit, as if it's going to change anything.

There is nothing "course changing" about that statement.
If you know me, on a personal level, you are likely to address me as Dan.
If you and I have a customer/business relationship and you tried to address me as Dan, Danny or Daniel, I would likely tell you to piss off and that you may address me as Mr. Messa.

HiTech is very open about owning, creating, and running this company. I've seen HTC, HiTech, and Dale all used on the boards by many. I was trying to be specific to Dale the person, as opposed to HTC or HiTech which might be directed at the company as a whole. I was not implying that I have any greater or increased familiarity with HiTech.
The use of HiTech vs Dale seems irrelevant to the original point I made, and then clarified when HiTech questioned it. So inserting that dig, seemed like a new course. :salute

If it came to a point where I had to tell you to piss off with regard to a business transaction I would have, at some point well before that, considered our business relationship terminated but would have refrained from actually vocalizing the statement to maintain a semblance of decorum and politeness.
HTC is the company.
HiTech is the the owner.
Dale is the man some on these boards have met, shaken hands with and perhaps introduced himself as "Dale".
I was simply agreeing with Dolby's statement. If it was intended as as dig to you personally, I would have addressed you directly and made it quite clear that I was making a dig at you.
I am not really known for my mastery of innuendo, skill at "beating around the bush" or diplomacy acumen.

However, that doesn't change the fact that there are a few things about the game I dislike.
