1. Try to secure advantages before attacking. If possible, keep the sun behind you.
2. Always follow through an attack when you have started it. If you run your an easy target.
3. Fire only at close range, and only when your opponent is properly in your sights.
4. Always keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses.
5. In any form of attack it is essential to assail your opponent from behind.
6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try to evade his onslaught, but fly to meet it.
7. When over enemy lines, never forget your line of retreat.
8. Attack in groups of four or six. When the fight breaks up into a series of single combats, take care that several do not go for one opponent.
I know a few of you know what this little list is. Interested in some of the responses i'll get :salute

Personally I'd rather learn to avoid their attack, reverse, and get my own shot from a position where they can't shoot back. But then again that's just me. :)

#6 is one of my faves, and I'm pretty sure oswald meant be aggressive and take the fight to them - if you just keep evading, the guy will eventually saddle up and shoot you.
I do this all the time, often it spooks the BnZer enough that they lose patience or make mistakes ("but Ive got the E and hes attacking me! huh?") also I think alot of people tend to get confused if you force a nose-to-nose fight in the vert. in fact most players seem to be alot more comfortable with a nose-to-tail fight - witness the obsession with turn radius rather than turn rate ("which plane turns the tightest?") and how most players fly lead rather than lag pursuit.

You can turn into your opponent and not ho. only the slow in the head ho

That is circumstantial actually. The HO is a tool in the toolbox and sometimes it is the correct one. Some people seem to think it is the only tool in the toolbox though.

Ive snapshotted people in the cockpit at 90o AO before and they called it a HO, so sure why not :lol
-
just cause it says turn into them doesn't mean go head to head or ho though. What it does is give the enemy a harder shot. If you watch the top sticks in the game you will see they all do this. turn into the direction of an attacking enemy.
and yes zach the luft were great. an air force doesn't get the highest number of aces in history and the highest scoreing aces in history while being out numbered by not being good. overwhelming numbers is the main factor that killed the luft. all though not the only factor

Don't worship them too much, the main thing that allowed those aces to get those scores was being in a target rich environment (i.e., losing) and fighting over their own territory so that being shot down often did not end a career. Fighting the Soviets and their lack luster training programs helped too. The Americans and Brits would have had pilots with similar scores had they been in the same situation.

Out break of the war they were not over there own turf. and even after russia gave there pilotes better training and better planes killes were still mounting against them. Germans invented ACM. even the figure 4 thats used world wide then and now was a luft invention.

Finns were using finger four before the Germans were. They did not invent ACM any more than did the British and French. Russian training and aircraft were a joke at the start of the war and got better as it progressed, almost the exact opposite of German and Japanese trends, though it never approached the quality of pre-war German or Japanese training, nor American, British or Finnish training.

you cant deny that Hartmann was great.....1400 combat sorties, never been shot down, never hit his silk, never lost a wingman, crashed landed his plane....9 times (I think) and that's because he ran into the carcass of the planes he shot down, me personally If I was in a real war I would fly like him as much as possible....here in a game were no one dies I fly the exact opposite, and think its silly to fly like your life depends on it.

Of course one cannot deny that. There were many great pilots flying for the Germans and anybody who would claim otherwise would be either uneducated or an idiot.
What I deny is that the Luftwaffe or Germans were special or great simply because they were the Luftwaffe and German.

He hit the silk once due to being outnumbered 8v1 by P51s and low on gas, never took an enemy bullet though.
Crash landed 14 times.
Lost one wingman who transfered over from being a bomber pilot. (he bailed and survived)
Remember too, I helped train him when he flew as my wingman. :D

A "tards" guide to AH?
A vtard calling the words of a ww1 ace a dweebs guid? A vtard calling anyone a dweeb period is kinda funny. Especial when not 1 member of your squad is in any way a good stick or has a clue about anything that involves fighting on AH. Nuck you just proved your own ignorance and supported my beliefs of your squad. Please read a book and learn something anything about history before opening your mouth in public. Here I'll help you get a start. The list is called Dicta Boelcke. It's the first guid to dog fighting written and is still implied to this day. It was written by Oswald Boelcke during ww1. If what I have red is right he was the 2nd highest scoring ace of ww1. There vNUCK. You are informed. Now what lame ignorant comments you have to make?

Guid? Especial? Implied? (Either “applied” or “employed” perhaps.) Red? You might try working on your command of the language before attempting to look more intelligent than others, as you may instead wind up looking like a fool.
I don’t know where you “red” your facts, but Boelcke was NOT the 2nd highest scoring ace of WWI. He wasn’t even the 2nd highest scoring German ace. He was in the top 12 amongst German aces and somewhere in the top 30 amongst aces of all nationalities (depending on your source).
Oh, and we all knew it was the Dicta Boelcke, OK? It might be hard to believe, but there are some other people who play AH, have an interest in flight history and air combat, the ability to read books and, surprisingly enough, access to the internet as well. Some of us are just able to APPLY (or EMPLOY) those skills better than you have here.
:ahand
p.s. What is your in-game name, anyway? As someone who you claim has no “clue about anything that involves fighting on AH” I might want to fly against you to hone my meager skills sometime.

oh c'mon Kingpin
Surely he doesn't believe that attacking with an altitude advantage makes you an "alt-tard" (pronounced "Rook") jk
...that turning into your opponent makes you a "HOtard" (pronounced "the guy that just shot you down")
etc. etc. etc.
my point made in jest was that those members of the game, that understand and employ (should I say "apply") the lessons and tactics of the greatest Aces in history are belittled and often insulted by others in the game.
seize every opportunity, press every advantage and diminish every disadvantage... isn't that the heart of the Dicta Boelka?
Thanks for informing me SQUAT...

LMAO burn failed. My in game name is SQUATI. Any time bud. and as far as my info. here it is some of it.
He had 40 kills and died on 28 October 1916 on his sixth sortie of the day with his two best pilots, Manfred von Richthofen and Erwin Böhme, and three others. He was the 10th highest scoring German ace and 20th of WW1 (I stand corrected). Boelcke one of the first 2 German fliers to be awarded the Pour le Mérite, Germany's highest military medal.

My fellow furbalers
:lol I’ve checked your stats, and this would have been perfect for you had your misspelling been "furbailers". Close enough though pronunciation-wise.
Actually, you've made more than one mistake in this thread. It started with your OP assumption that people don't know what the Dicta Boelcke is, was then fueled by your inability to recognize sarcasm when you see it, continued with your ignorant insults of an entire squad of skilled players (many of whom, I will dare say, are superior pilots to you), then added incorrect statements coupled with terrible grammar, all while claiming to be educating people.
You really should accept the much-needed ointment Nucks has so generously offered you.

That I won't deny, would much rather meet him in the air than on the forum's. On the other hand, it is a fatal flaw to not respect your enemy/opponent, and in a cartoon game I find it absolutely absurd to obtain the level of disrespect he has obviously obtained of his. If he would only pause to apply the principles of his apparent beloved mentor to the behavior he so readily criticizes.
7. When over enemy lines, never forget your line of retreat.

1. Try to secure advantages before taking off. If possible, have more than 1 wing in your squad.
2. Always follow through an attack when you have started it. Unless there is opposition.
3. Fire at any range, your opponent may already be in the sights of 5-10 of your buddies.
4. Always keep your eye on your opponents hangers, and never let yourself be deceived by people who enjoy a fair fight.
5. Just like in Love, in any form of attack it is essential to assail your opponent from behind if you missed the HO on the initial merge.
6. If your opponent dives on you, yell at the guy who couldn't fly NOE and gave all 50 of you away.
7. When over enemy lines, never forget to at least drop hangers before you auger.
8. Attack in groups of fourty or sixty. When the fight breaks up into a series of single combats, check out the other side of the map.

umm, I'm pretty sure our OP's mentor would have approved of ganging up on opponent, or were you proposing a hijack of the topic?
-
The OP's Mentor is not the vDevils mentor. I was offering a vBoelcke writeup with as much accuracy as I could muster. It seemed to flow naturally with the thread's evolution.
Funny story...I was actually in Dogfites first squad he joined. Good guy. Had his goals and left for a more hordy approach to join JBlaser(?). For a while they grew in #'s on Knits until the banter and backlash against their gameplay became to much for them and they decided they were going to take their talents to South Beach, Rooks, or Bish. There was much fanfare and everyone was holding their breath waiting to see where they would end up.
I think they went Bish first with mixed results. Next came a Rook session which was met with about as much love as the knits that had them packing to begin with. Like minded Armchair generals met again, and the Bish attachment was complete.
I believe dogfite chronicled all of this in the squad recruiting forums where he asked if anyone had more base captures than the Devils Rejects.
Anyways, I like you guys.

Who said the OP's mentor was the vDEVIL's mentor? Though an analytical review may reveal that they employ the same principles to accomplish their goals, it has yet to be stated in this thread. Shall we return OP's topic, or do you propose that we should change the topic?
-
I thought I've stayed on topic. While you have defended the use of the OP's Mentor's tactics as if they are used, I clearly laid out the actual ones that your squad practices in game.
Why do you hate accuracy?

OK, Now that my RECRUITING THREAD has been "flamed" by a few retards and "praised" by some of the elite, maybe I can get along with the program. And the PROGRAM is:
To recruit gentlemen that have the same interests, such as those that want to "Take Bases". If you are tired of flying with guys that don't care about working together as an organized group to work together to accomplish a main objective, then try US out. We, the *V* DEVILS REJECTS *V* , have a military structure. However; we are not militaristic. I don't give orders like a "Patton" or a "Douglas MacArthur". I ask for volunteers. We have two (2) types of Game Modes. A "Freetime" Mode and a "Base Taking" Mode.
FREETIME MODE is when you do what ya want to do without the authority of anyone.
BASE TAKING MODE is when we "Rally" and we group together to do what has to be done to Take Bases.
We don't post missions due to the fact that they will often get spied on and called out.
I have set up a program where you can achieve Medals. This allows the website to look real nice and colorful.
So, if you think you would like to be involved with a Group like this, give us a trial run. We would be honored if ya joined us on our VOX channel. See ya in the Game.... :salute

And how does this have anything to do with the thread at hand? You sir are a troll and a flamebait, and I'm not biting.

9. After winning a base, do not defend and go to another part of the map.
10. PM someone if you die and your name is a city East of Ft. Worth.
Brilliant.
Let the truth sting.
I'm glad you have made it back to BBSland, assi.

If you can't read the thread and understand, I cannot possibly help you.
If you want to bring up specific points and argue them, I think we have a platform.
It's all in good fun for an understanding.

Some idiots get the lucky 1000 yard shot when your heading towerds them (6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try to evade his onslaught, but fly to meet it.). sometimes in the twisting and turning of a fight head on head situations arise and 90% of the time it's the newb or the newbish who take the shot (in my opinion) in stead of trying to get out of the line of fire and secure the advantage. But it is true alot of people call high deflection shots hoes. I for 1 try to avoid taking them in a 1v1 but don't get made when someone else does.

:bolt:
Are you implying that Skuzzy is biased?
-
No...He is saying that Norwegians are the debil.
-
:lol I’ve checked your stats, and this would have been perfect for you had your misspelling been "furbailers".
Now add this into your thinking the score determine skill.
1. This was my 1st tour after a 3 month break
2. I rarely fly my K4( Wich I'm in 90% of the time) above 7k. Apt does not always = advantage like most seam to think.
3. I almost never up with wingmen. I fly solo most the time and look for 1v1's
4. I don't run to ack or from 1v1 2v1 or 3v1. If I get shot down I can always up a new plane
5. If I up and the red dar is gone And I don't have any kills I just bail and look for a new fight
Now factor all that in and. Remember I keep a K/D 1/1. And a K/S of about the same. But if you think you can
teach me something then what's your ingame name and we can arrange a DA match or something.
-
Are you implying that Skuzzy is biased?
Your still here nucks? Don't you have an undefended base to toolshed with 20+ others?
-
Nucks, your biting, and your almost on the boat.
LOL he hit the line so hard he just about swamped the boat. Assi clearly didn't need a net to land him :)
-
Just because, this thread needs more Honch's Guide to HOing (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,97161.0.html).
-
1. This was my 1st tour after a 3 month break
Edit: Additional reasons for many bails and few landings.
Honestly, I don’t care about how you fly or choose to play the game. That part of my post was calling attention to another error you made (ball vs. bale/bail) in what I thought was a humorous way. I fully agree with INK, that stats don’t really tell the tale. In retrospect it was a misguided comment and I probably should have kept the serious tone.
The intent of my post is in the SECOND paragraph, Squati. This is where I point out your errors and follow up on your ignorant and prejudiced comments. I do understand why you would fail to respond to this essential part of my post.
Here is my point: Your comments were not only inaccurate but also WAY out of line. One thing I’ve learned about AH (and life in general) is that larger squads tend to have some good folks in them and some bad folks in them. It is not unlike any other large group of individuals. Look at any professional sports team, for example. You can probably point out a couple of really moronic clowns and a couple of really stand-up quality guys. Just because they play for the same team, doesn’t define them all as individuals.
This level of thinking could be way over your head, especially given the biased and ignorant comments you have made thus far. But, even though this might be wasted on you, it may not be on others who read it. So, I have taken the time to point out your mistakes, from grammatical, to factual, to logical and philosophical. You made yourself a pretty big target, and if you can’t recognize why this is or fess up to it, it is simply your loss.
As one of the AH trainers told me, though, when you fly into someone’s guns, you really should try to “get skinny”.
p.s. The vICTA Boelcke post is funny. My vote for post of the week, too. See the subtle difference, Squati?

Kingpin,
This being a joke thread, you have wasted several well structured paragraphs on the equivalent of consential midget mud wrestling. Your fire hose isn't going to make the midgets look better. I think they and the audience are having more fun getting muddy than you will ever have trying to defend your position while standing in the middel of their mud wrestling match. It's hard to take anyone seriously up to their knees in mud.
Squat is an old POTW member and is very good at setting up mud wrestling matches. Just enjoy the show. It's free.
+100 vICTA Boelcke :aok
