Short story..
Someone buys something from ya and then hasn't sent payment to ya after 2 weeks, refuses to answer Pm's and you have no way of contacting him/her. Do you call them out on the BBS and expose what you feel?? No names will be given so don't ask, but irony is what he is doing to me happened to him.

never mind i know who ripped ya off now, classless people.

You made this even more ironic for a second there.
Good luck to everyone, it's always a real bummer when this happens.

You don't have a phone number and address? Shame on you.
-
don't you have to put your current address down to HTC when signing up? (Been 7 years, dont quite remember)
If you do, and you have proof that he really did rip you off, have your local police give HTC a call.
They could do anything from get his address from his fill out sheet for the game, Or maybe even track his I.P address the next time he logged onto the game.
I say this because i had a friend last year who had his ps3 stolen from him. He knew who it was because he had caught the person in the act, but they ran off before he could stop them.
Cops got ahold of the kids parents, they lied and made an allebi for him.
My friend gave up hope of retrieving his ps3 so he decided to buy a new one. He had his PSN account set to auto-sign on whenever the ps3 turns on.
One day he was on his new ps3, and a msg poped up informing him that someone else had signed into his ps3 at another location.
He got ahold of his local police who called the SCEA up. i think they tracked the location of his ps3 threw his psn account, because they ended up getting it back and catching it in the other kids possession.
May be able to do that with HTC.
-
How do you get a PS3 stolen from you on the street???

-

It wasn't on the street. he was out, came home to find the kid trying to hide in his yard behind one of his trees, when he approached the kid ran off.
Guess i should of mentioned the kid broke into my friends house to take it.
It was on the bus... he was about to put it in his pocket.
Would of been a bit more fitting in one of scorpion's threads.

:rofl

I would call them out and get the word around about the scum that they are.

I was thinking on doing that but what i might do is wait till Monday and if no check then I will contact the local authorities in his area and then post here.

So you said you would ship the goods on the 8th. That was 11 days ago.
Is it possible that the customer held payment until he/she received the goods and found them to be in good working order?
Perhaps payment is en-route via snail mail and it is taking a little time.
Perhaps the buyer has been AFK for a bit, thus the lack of communication.
11 days from shipment to condemnation is a little hasty in my opinion.
A lot of "maybe's" in my scenario. Just my $0.02
:salute

Next time send COD, small claims court via video? Did send it so proof of delivery?

this^ it always seems to take 2 weeks just to receive something. Any less time and I feel I observed a miracle (with snail mail that is)
-
This is something that needs to be dealt with between the buyer, seller, and if HTC provided the avenue for sale then they too.
But otherwise... leave the rest of us out of this. Seriously.
-

the person in question received it 2 weeks ago,( proof of delivery receipt) lawndart mailed me a computer part and i had it in under a week(snail mail). lawndart lives in WI and I'm on the west coast(Oregon)
the dude he sold it to lives in the same state as lawndart, it doesn't take 2 weeks for a letter to travel within the same state.

Best of Luck to ya LawnDart,
I myself have been burnt by 4 or 5 people (could be more) that have flown Aces high and some are kind of well known......
heck, I may even possibly have even burnt an AH member or squadmate/friend but it wasn't done intentionally..... more than likely my forgetful mind can't remember the whole arrangement
most times though everything will work out accordingly as planned
but I would not call them out on the boards, least I have never done so to anyone.... I just let my close friends know or my squadmates know in private.......
edit: another thing- I have made it a point to archive all personal messages and emails, when they have to do with something of this nature, including phone messages

This is not a crime, it is a civil matter. The police will do nothing to help you. Get an attorney or take him to small claims.

What has any of this to do with HTC?
personally, I'd call it out. Not just for a sense of personal justice but also as it may protect other people from being ripped off in the same way.
-
yeah leave him negative feedback on our BBS, love it...

I have sold 2 things and bought a couple of things on the bb. never been burned, I ask for paypal payment as it is "safer". I once delayed sending payment for one product I received only because paypal takes 1 week to credit your account when adding money. but I called and apologized and as soon as the money was in I sent it. which it was funny cause the guy sent me the product to "try" it out and If i liked it then send the money. I liked it, still use it and I soon as I hooked it up I knew it was gonna work.
I always talk to people on the phone when buying/selling things first, always and they must have an ah account. lots of people who go on the bb dont have an ah account and I would never send anything to anybody that just joined the bb. I would never burn anybody, but if I get burned I would let others know. I would pm to buttonhole's name to anybody that was selling stuff on the bb every time.

i'd keep it off the bbs. call htc, explain to them, and see if they're willing or able to give you contact information such as phone number for this person. it's best kept between you and them i think.

If HTC is smart (and I'm guessing they are) they will not divulge any personal data. The liability is too great. What's to stop someone from making a similar claim, falsely, just to get somones info and do lord knows what with it.

Hmm this is about me, and the original poster isn't telling the truth.
The original poster agreed to overnight the package(purchase price included overnight shipping), which he didn't. He agreed to send it on a specific date, which he didn't. He didn't send all the parts. When I asked him about the missing parts, he said he'd send them out right away, which he didn't. He hasn't sent me a single PM, at least not one that I received. In the past, I PM'd the original poster my phone number. He has never called me.
Because he had promised to overnight the package, I had two packages overnighted from Newegg so the rest of the PC parts would arrive at the same time. Since the original poster DIDNT overnight the package as agreed, I wasted money on the overnight shipping of the stuff from Newegg.
Call the local cops. After I have them in, finish a cup of coffee with them, and talk about our kids who all play hockey together(I'm one of the coaches), we'll have a good laugh at your expense.
By the way, Lawndart does NOT live in Wisconsin, he lives in PA.
Oh ya, one more thing: I never agreed to payment terms so no matter what happens, short of not paying at all, I'm not in violation of any law or gentleman's agreement. Let me know when you are going to call the cops, I'll put on extra coffee.
As Paul Harvey used to say: "And that's the rest of the story."

and that folks is yet another reason things like this should be kept 1-1./.......avoid embarrassment.

but who here is telling the real truth? every story has 2 sides, and only one side is right and both sides claim to be right. is this not so CAP? not looking to add fuel to the fire, but someone here is lieing or sugarcoating the truth so as not to look as guilty.

you are 100% correct. it would almost seem as if part of the truth is being left out by one or both of them. regardless of whether or not one or both of them are, things like this should be kept personal i think. i don't know either of them personally, so that makes it harder to judge.......but for instance.......if i just sold you a widget for your charger, and you sent me a bad check, i wouldn't think to bring that here. i'd take that up with you and you alone, using whatever means(legally of course) i had to use to get in touch with you. i wouldn't try to call in the law, or local police until i had given you ample time to take care of the problem.
now, on the flip side of that, if i sent you a gadget, rather than the widget we had agreed upon, i would also expect the same courtesy from you as far as us handling the perceived problem.

Heya Sir,
OK unfortunatly I could not afford overnight, I sent it out 2nd day ground delivery and you will be getting it thursday.
tracking number is 1z8w6w530220323647
Go to www.UPS.com and you can track the item from there.
Correction: he did ship it on the day agreed... just not overnight as agreed, costing me money in pointless overnight shipping charges from Newegg.
By the way, I told the seller that I would be shipping the stuff from Newegg so that it would arrive on the same day as the stuff he was shipping and he STILL didn't overnight it, as agreed.

Where are all the "in's" here on the weekend? WTF COMMUNITY?! I've never posted an IN in 12 years on the BBS, as I thought it would violate the "no backseat moderating rule", but alas, it doesn't seem to. So here goes, right before this thread starts delivering some real good times.

Well I did say i would overnight the products but due to financial situation i could only afford 2nd day which he got the Thursday of the same week. I sent it Tuesday. So yes i will take that hit but I also sent him a message as soon as I got back from shipping it and explained it to him.
Steve i am sorry if it messed you up, and I did send you PM's about the price originally and you agreed to it. When I forgot to include the other item in the original shipment and you told me you had to order a new one, I also cut a portion off the original price.
Well as adults i know we can work this out and come to an agreement.

Hope you shipped it where they had to sign. If not then he will just say he never received it.

Yes really. If you received something and did not pay for it. That is what thieves do. Of course you did not keep it. You returned it... right?

Ahh so name calling to cover your tracks. I asked you a question. The answer was not complicated.
Obviously you kept it so while the OP might not have said the whole story he was truthful in the fact that he was ripped off.
You can call everyone here names but yours fits... thief. No one likes a thief. Funny thing is thieves hate getting ripped off by their brotheren.
Another result of poor parenting.

This is an ongoing circumstance... to say I ripped off the seller is premature. By the way, the shipping losses between overnight and 3 day guaranteed are about $154.00. This is a significant amount, relative to the transaction total.

The way this thread reads:
1: I didn't get paid when I sold something to someone here, what should I do?
2: You didn't send it in the exact way I specified and I'm not paying you.

2: I'm friends with the police. I will use this relationship with authorities to mess you about even more.

Ah a glimmer of hope. Yes, actually. Now here's the back story. I posted this in a another private thread, so it's just copied over. (sorry I didn't feel like retyping it.)
I had newegg ship a case, power supply, monitor, ram, 2 vid cars, and some sundries to arrive along with his parts. I ordered them overnight at the cost of $164.00. Had I known he wasn't going to overnight his parts, I could have just had the other parts shipped 3 day for about $11.00. At first, I was going to deduct this from the price and send him a check. Then I decided not make a decision until I wasn't pissed. For a few days, every time I thought of this, I got pissed off all over again... because the dude couldn't do what he said.. even though I had told him I was going to have other parts overnighted to arrive at the same time. So I sat on it until I could think about it even headed. When I could think about it fairly...clearly.., I decided to that if he couldn't afford to send the stuff overnight, he probably could less afford to take the $154 dollar hit than I could, so I decided eat that and let things be bygones.
I didn't see this thread right away... and I'm glad...

Just to throw some gas on the fire, I'd like to know what circumstances required the arrival of the package next day, and why having it arrive one day later than agreed upon made a big enough difference for all of this to be the result. If it was that you were building something for somebody else, and the timeline was extremely tight etc, it would explain a great deal. An explanation of this key pivotal point would clarify this weekends best bbs drama so far.
The way UPS/Postal/FedEx operate nowadays, I would personally be ecstatic just RECEIVING the package during the same week it was sent, never mind a day late. That said, if I had an extremely time sensitive issue and somebody told me they were sending something next day air, and they sent it ground, depending on the situation, I might get PO'd as well.

So YOU decided to have Newegg ship to you overnight of your own volition.
Then, YOU decided to deduct the cost of shipping from the price YOU agreed upon with a private seller.
How you decided getting your parts 2 days sooner was worth $153 I'm not sure but it's your choice after all. You made that choice. He didn't.
How you decided that it was up to a third party to pay for your shipping because not everything arrived the second you wanted it to is going to have me pondering for some time to come.
How you can't see how you're being the bad human being in this is also beyond me. You're ripping someone off because things didn't go your way.
So while you claim to have paid him, you haven't. You've paid him a sum but not the sum agreed upon. Some $153 short as it appears.
Welcher.
-
Just to throw some gas on the fire, I'd like to know what circumstances required the arrival of the package next day,
It doesn't matter. This was the agreement. Why the agreement was made shouldn't affect whether or not it should be kept. The pertinent reason it was a big deal that it arrived late is because I spent loot to get the other parts to arrive on the originally agreed date. I covered this.
I'm not directing this at you necessarily but I don't mind being vilified for this. Those who do find me at fault, have a poor grasp of the circumstances or are just plain stupid, and thus are beneath my concern. And/or I just plain don't like them, as in Shuffler's case.

Pay up. Do what is right.

Yes, I'm the tard. You're a model human being and above reproach on this issue.
Just a few more questions so that my infinitesimal intellect can grasp what is going on here. What price did you agree upon and how much did you actually pay him?
I paid him the agreed upon price... I've already stated that. in an earlier post... here:
I decided to that if he couldn't afford to send the stuff overnight, he probably could less afford to take the $154 dollar hit than I could, so I decided eat that and let things be bygones.

This is no longer a issue for the BBS, it seems the buyer and seller have re-established communication and the problem is no more. This is no longer the business of anyone on the BBS except the two parties involved. The seller was hesitant to name names, but unfortunately it was too obvious who the buyer was, neither party seems to be at any fault.
I expect this thread to be closed tomorrow and I hope this doesn't effect the classified forum at all.

sunbat, you are just too stupid to deal with. This is the last time I will ever respond to you. I've already explained it to you in the muppet forum. I cannot cure stupid

If you have paid, why does he claim that you haven't?

*shakes head and walks away
Agreed :bolt:
This thread, unfortunatly, is full of stupid. :bhead
-

maybe he hasn't received it yet? Maybe his cat ate it? Lawn, do you have a cat?
sigh... thanks lawn.

LOL. Names and insults. That's all u got.
Anyway that's perfect. Now I can post the truth w/o having a voice of dissension in the background.
It's simple. This guy did his best to send u what he had on time. If he wanted to really screw u he would have sent it 14 day. Instead, he sent it next day (doing the best he could). That means u got it maybe at the most 36 hours later. Now u want to screw him out of a hundred plus dollars bc u didn't get your toy on time?
Honestly I feel your pain that he lied about the time of delivery but u have his goods.
Right now my car is in the shop and was supposed to be out Thursday but complications arose. Do u think I'm going to pay with a credit card, get my car then call and stop payment on Monday when I get it? By your standards I would.

I'm about done here. All we're getting from you is half-facts and re-quotes from 'private' messages.
If you've paid the full agreed price, fair enough.
If you've paid the full agreed price and deducted the difference between overnight and standard shipping (for that item alone(if that was included in the agreed upon price)) fair enough.
If you haven't paid the agreed upon price, think about coming good.
It seems odd to me that you come into a thread where the OP is concerned about having not received a payment from you and you don't even address that concern with a definitive 'yes' or 'no I have/n't paid him' until your 10th or 11th post. If someone was suggesting I hadn't paid them in that way and I had, you can be sure as hell the first thing I posted would have been that exact clarification.
Hell. Maybe I'm just reading you wrong. I'm sure you're a stand-up guy and all that 'buddy buddy cop' stuff was just for brags.

Clearly he changed his tune mid-thread. Clearly. I made that point to him in the muppet thread he refered to above but he just called me stupid. Oh well. Clearly I am.

The buddy buddy cop was tongue in cheek, just like his assertion that he would call them. I don't even drink coffee.
I didn't "clarify" in this thread right away because this thread pisses me off. Remember, I gave the guy my number... he never called. He said he sent me numerous PM's... I didn't get them. My inbox was full for a while(maybe?)... I think you get a message when the person you are trying to contact has a full box. Anyway I didnt get any PM's
He just started this thread. .. he has my flipping phone number.
I also didn't jump into clarifying because I don't owe anyone a clarification, or any kind of explanation. I posted in here because I was pissed off, not that I felt I needed to clarify anything.
I'm just glad I sent the check before I saw this thread. I'm not sure what I would have done.
Edit: I didn't know my box was full... I had saved a few items in my outbox. I think they go against your total message count.

if you were going to sell something on Ebay, or Amazon.. would u send them the product first? NO
Payment then shipment.
Use paypal. as soon as you got payment confirmation. go to UPS.

IN.
Here ya go-- IN How's that?
And as far as paying more to have the stuff shipped overnight? No matter what anyone said,
It's on you. Noone forced you. You wanted the stuff sooner on an assumption.

:rof In all honesty, if this is all about getting panties twisted cause you got your goodies one day late and couldnt decide whether or not to pay it shows how much character you have. Semp started by asking for the communities thought, to which you jumped in and started saying the opposite which threw us all off. then When Shuffler posted and gave you an argumental point you said in essence "your wrong cause I don't like you". a couple posts later we see a squad mate come in to which you fling insults and name callig and more of the "I don't like you your wrong" accusations.
its like watching those shows on TV where the idiots try to something knowingly stupid and the whole world watching them in pain as they deserved it

Steve, you know i like and respect you, so please do not take what i say as a judgement but as an observation.
i think in this instance you got angry at lawn's failure to stick to the letter of the agreement due to your recent issue with dano and you overreacted. your state of mind is understandable, you had already been mistreated by someone you thought you could trust and now someone you owe no trust to appears to fail you. you let your anger get the better of you for the moment. you are right for your disappointment for lawndart failing to live up to the letter of his agreement, but you were wrong to allow your anger at another person complete failure to act in an honest manner to cloud your judgement in your dealings with a different person in a different matter.
in my mind he was late so you were late, was it responsible adult behavior? no, it was anger and frustration controlling your actions. but you are not a thief nor are you some kind of "bad" person because of it, just one who allowed his emotions to interfere with his intelect. i don't think there is a human on the planet that has not at some moment in their lives suffered from "cranial-rectumnitis", so to hell with the judgements of the masses.
you have since made it right and lived up to your complete obligation, you owe nobody anything, let alone explanations to those who are posting here only to stir the pot.
Sunbat, you are completely in the wrong here. Muppet conversation needs to be kept in the Muppet forum. you have fueled the fire of outsiders by your statements in here. you were quoted and used as an example to impeach Steve's character based not so much on your words but upon the fact that you are a fellow Muppet speaking out against him. when a squaddie publicly denounces you well then you must be guilty. in this forum Sunbat your behavior is wrong and irresponsible.
as are mine for calling you out on your behavior publically, but the world at large needs to understand that Steve is a Muppet held in high regard by most Muppet's for his honesty and integrity and that your words should not be held as a public denouncement of Steve by all Muppet's.
your issue with steve in this matter is being discussed in house, that is where it belongs, not here.

Steve and I have discussed this in private and he has convinced me that my statements were incorrect. I do not doubt that he will do the right thing with all of this. I know things did not quite work out the way you had hoped it would Steve.
I know ebfd pretty well and I am sure when he said about over-nighting the stuff to you he had no idea how expensive that would be. This is a lack of foresight on his part. I am sure of one thing though, he most likely stood there for a while pondering what to do and felt like crap for quite sometime after making the decision to send it the less expensive route. The thing is he would do most anything for anyone even if he does not know you all that well. And just so you know the big reason the expense was such a big deal is he has had to endure less income for the sake of caring for a family member that needs round the clock care and not just the fact that he did not want to spend the money. (Hopefully not too much info for you eb)
I also commend you Steve for taking the time to cool off before making a decision about your dilemma. I can not say I would have. Many people myself included have a tendency to assume the worst and take the first action that comes to mind.
ebfd I suggest the next time not making it public though. More times than not it creates witch hunts that have tendencies to blow things out of proportion.

In ebfd's defense, he wasn't the one the brought up the player's name, everyone just kind of figured it out. I mean, it didn't take a detective to figure it out, but I don't think this is how he pictured this thread going.

Yup people get emotional when anyone mentions being robbed, having things stolen, or someone destroying personal property. Many have had to endure those types in the past.
In this case it turned out to be none of the above. That is good news.
As for myself... I appologize to Steve for thinking he was taking advantage of this individual. I do not know either person other than on these boards. I however am a victim of crime in the past and take it to heart quickly.

Well since it appears that the two parties involved have reached some kind of an agreement there really is no point in speculating exactly who said what or who did what any longer.
All we can do is try to learn from their mistakes so let's go over who did what wrong. Keep in mind this has nothing to do with judging on a person's character... it's just plain common sense:
EBFD screwed up by:
- Sending the product off before payment was received.
- Sending the product using the incorrect shipping method - and not doing the proper research before things ended up getting to this point.
- Sending the product off incomplete.
- Bringing the matter to a public forum before even giving a reasonable amount of time for things to get settled.
STEVE screwed up by:
- Letting his anger get the best of him and saying things that probably shouldn't have been said.
- Implying that he was not going to pay for the goods because of the mix-up.
- Assuming everything would work out and paying outrageous overnight charges from Newegg (I mean come on.. that's such a waste of money IMO - but that's my opinion to make).
- Letting his PM mailbox get full. I don't know the details behind this so it's mostly speculation but come on now!
Reading this thread reminded me of the Air Emergency show where it shows that one pilot screwed this up and another screwed that up and then the maintenance guys screwed this up and then the flight attendant screwed that up. It's like there were so many mistakes made by so many people that disaster was imminent! And the more that was posted about it, the deeper things got!
Next time when you're selling/buying something sight unseen online try applying some common sense tactics. DO YOUR RESEARCH. Require payment before you ship (Paypal is a great resource for things such as this). Don't assume the packages will get there when they are supposed to. Don't expect the seller to be responsible for things if they aren't. If in doubt ASK QUESTIONS!
Learn from these mistakes people and don't let this sort of thing happen again.

Everyone, it's all cool, for my part.
I get heated and intense just like everyone else so I understand completely. I am also quick to defend a friend.
I could have handled this thread better myself. . I was so irritated that this thread was started in the first place, and that a squaddie of mine was leading the charge of the tar and feather wing of AHII, that I did nothing to calm things down, but rather I fueled the flames. I apologize for that and for my unkind words.

WOW I thought I might have gotten drunk and "bought" something and agreed to pay for it AFTER receiving it...only do that with firearms on my end...and then never paid for it or done a WTF when it showed up.
Anyway...a while back I posted in the Classifieds and asked for a sticky for a "Good/Bad Feedback" post and it got slapped down by Skuzzy and in fact I got banned for posting it up there as it was "against the rules". Simple business practice that should have been in place here is to not ship items until items are paid for.

Sweet, beers on me then, I've been staying out of this incase there was a need for someone standing on the outside to grab the fire bucket (unfortunatley I didn't become aware of the situation any earlier than most the AH community... ahem). It runs great! Whatever you upgraded to must be a monster because this mob-chip combo is very fast, and extremely OC'able(as you know). I have a case with a window in it. ..92HAF(I think,. off the top of my head) so the system looks really cool.
By the way, did you get the check? It hasn't cleared my account. I'm watching eagerly to make sure we both have a happy ending.
As for the ladies undergarments.. they feel so smooth on the skin, don't they?
