I think it's a big mistake to put the police in an intimidating or adversarial situation against school kids unecessarily.

I graduated in 1990. Not once was there ever an incident involving a handgun or knife. Not once were we led outside the building because of a possible threat on the school. And other than the occasional burnout caught with pot or speed, it was drug-free.

Some of you cats graduated wayyyyy before my time too. Apparently the thought escapes a few here that it's progressively getting more 'ghetto' out there and less Ozzie and Harriet. But if there is a possible gun or drug threat in the same classroom as say, your son or daughter, you're just gonna let em 'talk it out' in therapy? Send Barney Fife in there? I don't think so. Now that I have a daughter, there ain't no way in hell that I'm gonna be against a few informal searches.

If you feel uncomfortable about being more secure, I hear Putin is getting the workforce back together soon.
