One Gun the Rest of Your Life

I read the opening post on the thread. The conditions are perfect for one firearms system that fits the conditions as originally set up.

That weapon is the Thompson Center Encore. It is the second generation of the Contender.

It has multiple barrels and accessories. It can fire shotgun shells, rimfire cartirdges, centerfire pistol cartridges and rifle cartridges up to and including those for dangerous game. Once a scope is set on the barrel of choice you can leave it when you swap out the barrel for another cartridge.

The system is of course a single shot. I do not see this as a detriment as the idea of this gun is to have one gun only for life, not go into combat. Even if it were I'd still look at this as a sniper's weapon not a close combat weapon. I don't want to get close, I want to pop the problem at a range that lets me solve it and not be subject to additional ones.

In short, this one system allows me to hunt anything on the North American Continent and any place else I'd be inclined to hunt.

One gun, virtually any caliber I could want to fire. Can't beat that at all for versatility.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Just got the new Greek SG Garand from CMP. I've got to take some photos and post them. Magnificent. Also have 16 clips loaded ready for the range :)

Hell yeah, the 98K has a DREADFULL sight. But the thing I like about the nagant sight is that little ring at the end, which seems as if at a nice range it would fit perfectly around someone's head... :t

But yeah, I dont like any of the US sights really, because they have that little stick thingy, and the only one that seemed to hit where the tip of the stick would suggest is the BAR. I like the fact that they are semi-auto now, because the BAR, if not being used as an emplaced weapon, isnt very good in my opinion as a hand-held machine gun, but, would be a GREAT marksman's weapon in my opinion. Had the chance to lift, hold and even fire one recently, and it was the time of my life, topped only by the fact that I was able to do the same with a Nagant, and was even given the offer to buy it for $100, spike bayonet, and sling and all. Those BARs are HEAVY bastards though!

So many great gun choices and options in this thread.

And I'm still thinking, if had only one gun, what would it be?  Something so absolutely perfect that you just love the way it handles and shoots, and are totally confident with it in all situations.

I kept thinking about and researching that M-1 .30-caliber carbine.  Then I bought it.  After a hundred rounds, it is everything I thought it would be: my all-time favorite gun.

There are a zillion guns I've never had the pleasure of shooting, and there are plenty other guns that excel in different situations.  But in my average or limited firearms experience, if could have only one gun, it's the .30 cal M1 carbine for me.

Here's hoping all of you have or find your all-time favorite gun too.

I myself would take the F2000. 1.6X Scope, 40 MM grenade launcher, and 5.56 mm rounds. :aok

Backwards, sort of... The G3 was/is a development of the CETME. It came full circle. Under development in Germany during the last months of the war, the designers took the rifle to Spain after the war. Originally designated the Mauser StG45, it was fully developed by CETME as the model 58. H&K modified the basic design and manufactured the G3 under some sort of licensing agreement.
