gixer, I didn't say you didn't race. I never said any of the things you claim I did... what I did say was that street sport bikes are not competitive with real single purpose race bikes.
you guys aren't riding race bikes... you are pretending.

And if you bothered to read my posts you would of seen what I said about the race bike I use to own and race compared to the sportbikes today. And that there isn't alot of difference between bike off the shelf and a race bike. There use to be but the gap isn't as big today, as the modern 600's and 1000's come with phenominal power to weight ratios off the shelf equivilent to the levels of Superbikes of just a few years ago.
Race bikes come in all levels. Formula 1,,2,& 3 not a big difference. The rider, setup and tyres is a far far bigger factor then a bike with 10kg's less weight and 20 more hp.
We had a track day couple years ago and one of our guys (who is a pro racer for Yamaha) was only a couple secs off the lap record held at the club track riding a stock R1 compared to a race ready R1. And in the wet with med rain tyres he was lapping the same times and still doing 260 in fifth down the back straight.
I know what you mean with the guys in new suits and unmarked knee sliders but that dosn't mean you have to slag them off. Atleast they are wearing the right kind of safety gear which is far more important. I wouldn't ride anywhere without full leathers (whether they be black, pink or orange I don't care) a back protector and sliders. The only pretenders are those idiots who wear shorts and a t-shirt or jeans. And even if they don't use sliders for what they are for it dosn't matter as they are atleast adding extra protection to your knee and the very vulnerable nerve that sits there.
And for those that think it's tougher to ride in limited gear, no matter how tough you think you are in the image you are trying to portray, rebel or sense of freedom the gravel will win and it will make the difference between spending a couple weeks in hospital to a few months or worse.
The biggest concern I have today in motorcycling isn't for one type of bike or another but 40+ guys getting back into motorcycling after their 50's 60's singles days as a teenager and jumping on a modern bike of 100bhp plus and promptly riding into a cliff. Not sure about the US but they count for the highest deaths, injuries and accidents in this country and Australia and it's scary watching them on the road and times.
