Any Bikers in here?

"Jackal, just because you've got mates doesn't mean you're any more of a biker than anyone else.

I've been riding since 1991. A qualified motorcycle instructor since 1994. A proud member of the Wolves Outlaws Motorcycle Club since 1993. And I've never owned anything but sportsbikes.

So don't you dare try to tell me I'm not a real biker just because I prefer a machine with the performance of a Ferrari rather than some old clunker based on 1950s tractor technology.

How about I piss on your shoes and tell you it's raining?

What you ride doesn't matter. How you ride doesn't matter. It's the fact that you ride that matters. And if you actually believed this 'brotherhood' tripe you're spewing you'd know it applies to every other bike rider on the planet, not just the ones you think are cool.

You've obviously got a chip on your shoulder about sportsbike riders, well fine, you carry on mate. Just be aware that we don't feel the same way about you just because you choose to dress differently and ride something more comfortable than what I'm riding. We're not that shallow. "

Swoop you are absolutely right mate. Jackle you got it so wrong.

All this "I'm a real biker you're not " is a loadof complete B*ll*x Do you know how bloody daft you sound right now?

You know Indian Larry died trying to do some stunts on his chopper last fall. Lost his balance and landed on his head. No helmet.

Don`t know so much about that bud, but what i do know is you keep proving how clueless you are with every post.
You are not, never have been or never will be a biker. You are a motorcycle enthusiast........at best. Just chill , buy yourself some new dayglo apparel and keep your head up. :D

Lazs2,

I give up, you have such a closed mind towards anything or anyone else on any subject even including bikes. And you have such pre concieved ideas about others and what that ride, don't ride, do or not do that this whole discussion is a waste of time. You fail to see my point completely and just blindly label me as some neon wannabe racer when I have 15 years experience racing on dirt and the track. From 125's to 1000's, solo's,sidecars and occasionally old classics.

Usually people who ride bikes don't care what your riding you still get a salute and a wave as your both enjoying what motorcycling is about. Yet for some reason you seem bitter towards anything or anyone other then cruisers.

And boast that some custome bike being built has a V10 Viper Engine in it, strange.

I think we have all learned that hanging out with the bikers doesn't automatically make you a cool guy or a biker :)

I think this guy has much better perspective to the motorcycling than some "bikers" in here... :D

yu guys are sure sensitive about that pretend racer thing... wonder why.

gixer, I didn't say you didn't race.  I never said any of the things you claim I did... what I did say was that street sport bikes are not competitive with real single purpose race bikes.

you guys aren't riding race bikes... you are pretending.

You're not driving a dragster or classic car; You're just pretending.

I gotta say I don't understand your attitude Lazs; I've driven few different things in my life and those "racers" are one of the funniest and most comfortable things out there.
They steer like a dream, accelerate like a sausage from a shotgun, they are fast as hell and real joy to drive in a curvy road.
Maybe it's just not your "thing" but I like to have fun by throwing a bike from turn to turn and I find those "racers" better for that job than a big BMW or GW (haven't driven a HD yet, couple friends have those too so maybe I try them next summer).

Jackle

Mate I give up. Just as its a waste of time trying to convince Lazs that a sportbike is a valid form of two wheeler, so its pointless trying convince you to open your mind a tad. Goback to your Badass dudes and I'll continue riding with real bikers.

Ever considered that the problem your having convincing anyone of anything is that you don`t have a friggen clue about what you are talking about? I`d suggest a little thought on that if I were you.
If you ever do ride with a real biker it will be a big 1st for you bud because you aint gotta clue what one is.
Just jump on that thing you are calling a motorcycle, stick a "how ya like my ass" sticker on the seat of your pants . That way ,when your all jacked up , looking like a **** in a punch bowl, it will at least provide some more humor for those that have a clue.

And if you bothered to read my posts you would of seen what I said about the race bike I use to own and race compared to the sportbikes today. And that there isn't alot of difference between bike off the shelf and a race bike. There use to be but the gap isn't as big today, as the modern 600's and 1000's come with phenominal power to weight ratios off the shelf equivilent to the levels of Superbikes of just a few years ago.

Race bikes come in all levels. Formula 1,,2,& 3 not a big difference. The rider, setup and tyres is a far far bigger factor then a bike with 10kg's less weight and 20 more hp.

We had a track day couple years ago and one of our guys (who is a pro racer for Yamaha) was only a couple secs off the lap record held at the club track riding a stock R1 compared to a race ready R1.  And in the wet with med rain tyres he was lapping the same times and still doing 260 in fifth down the back straight.

I know what you mean with the guys in new suits and unmarked knee sliders but that dosn't mean you have to slag them off. Atleast  they are wearing the right kind of safety gear which is far more important. I wouldn't ride anywhere without full leathers (whether they be black, pink or orange I don't care) a back protector and sliders. The only pretenders are those idiots who wear shorts and a t-shirt or jeans. And even if they don't use sliders for what they are for it dosn't matter as they are atleast adding extra protection to your knee and the very vulnerable nerve that sits there.

And for those that think it's tougher to ride in limited gear, no matter how tough you think you are in the image you are trying to portray, rebel or sense of freedom the gravel will win and it will make the difference between spending a couple weeks in hospital to a few months or worse.

The biggest concern I have today in motorcycling isn't for one type of bike or another but 40+ guys getting back into motorcycling after their 50's 60's singles days as a teenager and jumping on a modern bike of 100bhp plus and promptly riding into a cliff.  Not sure about the US but they count for the highest deaths, injuries and accidents in this country and Australia and it's scary watching them on the road and times.
