I owned a Kawasaki Kz 400 when I was 16 and a Honda CB 900F when I was 18 until I was 27. Then I sold it and have not ridden since.

Don't miss the rain and bugs and snow squalls and crazy drivers who cut me off. Miss the friendly waves with other bikers, giving the girlfriends a ride on the back, the acceleration, the cost of filling the tank and the fun of the first glorious ride in the spring after a long winter.

Come back to two wheels. plenty do and look at all the advantages you listed. Theres four disadvantages to your five advantages. On balance the reason to ride a bike outweighs the reason not to.

The CB900F was a good bike though  the camchain was a bit crap on Hondas back then. I had a CB250 and a CBX 550, probably similar vintage both used to eat cam chains.

at 17: Honda C90 (Wilma).
at 18: Kawasaki AR80 (Karen).
at 19: Suzuki RGV250 (Susie).
at 20: Honda CBR600F race fettled, not road legal (Dunno).
at 21: Crashed the CBR at Pembury and picked up a titanium pin to hold my elbow together.
at 22: Kawasaki ZXR400L3 (Megan).
at 26: Yamaha YZF-R6 (Winnie).
at 30: Suzuki GSX-R600 (Charlotte, but she prefers Charlie).

The C90 was a wreck but I made money on it. The AR80 was thrashed out by the time I finished with it.  The RGV blew up.  Twice.  And then the gear box seized.  The CBR wasn't actually mine, I just crashed it.  I loved that ZXR, her name was Megan and she was the sexiest bike ever to be created, some Dutch bastard stole her.  The R6 has gotta be the best sports bike for distance work ever, I'd ride from Bristol to Amsterdam in one trip and still be able to walk at the other end, some Dutch bastard stole her as well.  The Gixer is the most uncomfortable bike I've ever known, 50 miles is enough to make ya wanna ride direct to the chiropractor.......but damn it's a fun trip.

P.S.  And yes, you have to name your bike.
P.P.S.  A sticker on the back of my lid reads "Passengers are requested to refrain from screaming".  Um....just thought I'd share that.

O ye of little faith.

Actually.......does anyone have any idea how difficult it is to get a life insurance policy that covers riding a bike?  Ok, lemme rephrase that, if anyone knows of an insurance company that offers life coverage for bikers.......

I'm an instructor.  I conduct CBTs and DAS training.  Have I ever lost a student?  No.  Have I ever thought I was just about to?  Oh hell yeah.

Swoop,

There are 3 kinds of motorcycle riders.

Those that have not crashed yet.
Those that have crashed.
Those that are going to crash again.

Funked, Life is a full contact sport and to date no one has gotten out alive. Donor cards should be standard for anyone who regularly steps outside of their house.

First bike was a Kawi 550 Spectre, then got a Honda CBR600.

Most exciting time of my life.    Motorcyle camped on both bikes; the CBR was hard on the wrist joints after a couple hours of riding but was sure great in the twisties.

Sold it for the down payment on a bigger house.  Ditto habu's sentiments.

I've owned HD's, Trimuphs, Yamahas and Kawasakis but the bike I bought the wife for Christmas is my favorite.

Got her an '04 Suzuki Volusia. I like it enough to buy myself one, delivery will be in 'two weeks'.

If any of ya are interested in a light cruiser you should check out the Volusia, there are lots of mods available for them so you can personalize your scooter.
