First point

KI84 is way better  in every way than the 61 can't believe you don't like it .   The climb is the killer card when it comes to the hog -  if the fight gets close at all, the Ki84 can just climb all over the hog at will. In fact it can decide whether it feels like outturning the hog - or out E-fighting the hog. Does both equally well

Second point

I usually don't accuse someone of cherrypicking when they start out 10K below me though    ;)    But that's just me.

As sad as it is that I agree with the CT resident lounge lizard on anything I also love the Ki-61 (I'll fight anything 1 on 1 in it) and hate the Ki-84. In fact the Ki-61 is my main ride in the MA...no problems with it at all.

As for the hog....I probably fight half the fight with the wheels down on average. Now alot of that is I dont normally fly that high and get bounced by alot of spits and lala's....done right your looking to do two things....1st force an overshoot or as levi said to drastically tighten your turn rate...

When I'm positive E it makes alot more sense to fly it as an e fighter. I'm guessing you were positive E and the hog was trying to go angles on you....no clue why you would kill engine.

Put this clip up awhile ago (in TA bbs I think)...in the end it didnt matter but it gives a reasonable idea of what dropping the gear can do....again seemed like the best option in a bad hand....certainly made for a fun fight....nother movie with a bad ending though;)

Before the 84 showed up on scene I loved the 61... since the 84 showed up I've flown the 61 only once or twice. The only thing that 61 does better than the 84 IMHO is dive...

Storch:

Easy answer is that I rarely fly US planes, and have little idea how to do so.  I was experimenting (unsuccessfully) in seeing if I could get you to overshoot, but I did it too gradually.  More practice is needed...

Well, its decided then. There is NO problem with the CT, and anyone who thinks so is a smarmy, know-it-all,  MA putz.

it almost worked on both occasions.  the only thing that prevented my cartoon death was a heavy trigger finger on my part.  on both occasions I was cherrypicked by the non cherry pickers.  as an idea, you may want to incorporate a roll in that technique.  you would have had me both times had you done so, but the ubiquetous non cherry pickers would have had your snack irrespective of your fine manuevers.  fun fights both times.

Storchy,

Seriously, you need to read up on the definition of "cherrypicking" , you seem to apply it  liberally , everytime you get killed.

And somehow it only ever seems to apply to others , never to yourself   ;)

notice I clearly stated the non cherry pickers.
I wasn't referring to you as a cherry picker mate.  you are a well rounded and versatile player.  you are also a gentleman and a scholar.

as for myself well.... I'm a liar and a poor judge of character :D
