black sheep..   I would not be envious of either of the cars you drive..  I wouldn't drive either of em.. the XKE would be nice but you don't drive it.

You were rude to inflict your music on others.   Now you have taken an attitude about it and are shocked that everyone isn't on your side.   You played music that offended people around you...  you then went on to demonize the guy who didn't appreciate it with your assumptions that he didn't like your or was jealous of your long hair/musican status/pos car/  and....

How do you know if my posts are "worth anything" unless you are reading them... If you are and still think so...  I would suggest that you stop doing so.

sixpence.. are you that dense?   If you run straight pipes on a Harley (as I have done) and rev it at the stop light... you are doing it to get attention...just as black sheep was doing with his music whether he will admit it or not.   Now that is fine... but if you want to be noticed then it is pretty lame to not take the good reactions with the bad...

If our musican style and car fashion maven had met a simpatico person... someone who had a mullet and thought pathfinders weren't the uglies cars every made.. and happened to like (of all things) rush... then all would have been well.. they coulda exchanged nods and winks and secret handshakes.

I at least knew that I was irritating people with my Harley or hot rods and admited that I wanted to be in their face...   Now days...if I have to rev it then there is a problem... if someone says "do you have to do that?" or some such I would simply say.. "sorrry. know it's loud but I think a float is stuck and it will die if I don't rev it."  or some such.... huge difference.

no one says you have to be polite in crowds... you don't have to hold doors open and you can spit on the street or curse if you want...  You can play your irritating music at people..   You don't have to be polite.   I think it's a good idea tho.

I think the point being missed here is that the volume of the music is not relevant. If it was playing softly and the older man was disturbed enough by it to say something, the polite thing to do would be to turn it down. What you did was not polite. It should not matter how nicely you were asked or how crotchety the old man was. He was bothered and it really would have been no sacrifice for you to help brighten his day a little. Think about that, and maybe when you grow up you can treat people with respect.

a city in florida passed a "noise ordinance", cops have DB meters, if your car music is too loud you get a ticket.

i hate it when ever new laws are passed, we have too many laws right now, we don't need any more.

but the law was passed because of people who don't know how to act in a civil manner, and must be controlled by more laws and rules like little childern.

turn down your damm radio, and shut off your engine when refueling, (read the sign on the pump).

Think about this, would the old guy have been likely say anything to BS if the music wasn't loud?  Be intellectually honest.  It's ok to consider others perspectives here.  If you admit you are mistaken I am not going to stand up and say "Neener neener".  Instead of trying to "win" consider what actually took place.

Again... none of the exchange would have taken place if BS hadn't been playing his music loudly.  I'm guessing most of us like loud music... my fun car has 1600 Watts in its' two amps so it's not like I don't love the thump, I just don't feel it's appropriate to force my music on others.

I do not believe you are so obtuse that you do not recognize that the loud music set the event in motion.  I believe you are smarter than that.  I honestly believe that, at this point, you are arguing for argument's sake.. just to win. Remember, BS initially said not "ear bleeding loud".  This was an admission that the music was at least somewhat loud to him.  Think of what the old guy, considering he prefers a different kind of music, must have thought.

Right, but he didn't pull into the old man's driveway. He pulled into a gas station. Let me tell ya, during the spring and summer when I pull in to get gas and i'm standing there filling the tank, all kinds of cars pull in with a loud radio. That's life at a gas station. And again, if a loud car radio bothers you, then the last job you should have is pumping gas or working at a car wash
