Just use a shovel, man. Chase 'em down and beat 'em to death with it then bury 'em with it. Awesome!

a modified choke will put about 60% of the pellets within a 30" circle at 40 yds.

There isn't much data published about 100 yd scatter as the typical effective range of a shotgun is about 50 yds.

Well, I know I hit squirrels at 100 - 150 yards, and it did a pretty good job. Although, I also had the choke specially made for long range shots from a friend.

Yah, right.

If you can consistently kill squirrels at 100 yards away using even #5's out of a modified choke, I'll buy you a case of your favorite beverage.

You may luck out now and then but there's no way a 12 gauge with a modified is regularly killing them at 100 yards, let alone 150.

Did you mean to say feet instead of yards?

Why are you getting long range shots from a friend?

With friends like that,...

His family has been working on guns and other things for quite some time. I'm not sure how far the shot will go, or what it's spread pattern is, but I know it works for hitting squirrels at that range. And other things. He made a rifle for a person here while back, takes special shells. He shot it once, it hit the target at 250 yards dead on. If there's one thing he knows, it's guns.

From things I've seen and done. That isn't a lie, it really hits squirrels at 100-150 yards. I haven't tried it on targets, I'm not sure how far it would go.

mossberg 835 full choke #4 shot magnum cartridges 80 yards max.  at 100 yds+ we hit the dogs to get their attention and return with #4 shot, it doesn't break the skin.

Yeah but you don't have a hillbilly gunsmith who can make a rifle that will hit stuff at (gasp) 250 yards!

Well, unless you're using slugs, with a scope, out of a rifled barrel, I still Say BS!!  Unless you were standing 300-450 feet above said squirrel and dropped it on him, then I could see it happening.
