You state the obvious. But a
conservative person always "errs" on the side that provides the better safety margin. Believing that flooring the accelerator because you don't believe the cliff ends ahead, even when you realize it's a foggy night, leads me to believe you're not qualified to select the car's driver, much less drive it yourself.
I advocate caution while unknowns exist. You, yourself, admit unknowns exist, right?
