They just ran the Planet of the Apes on cable about 2 weeks ago. *no pun intended*

Kinda spooky now to hear of his passing.

I loved all of his stuff on the Bible.

(Heston revealed in 2002 that he had symptoms consistent with Alzheimer's disease, saying, "I must reconcile courage and surrender in equal measure.")

A True Man of works and deeds.

Was sorry to here of his passing.
He was a top notch actor, a gentleman and real man`s man...............all rolled into one.
He was undoubtedly the best spokesperson for the NRA in it`s history.
He was a an worth listening to. Straight to the point and acquired the respect of most people.
Not too shabby for accomplishments .
Democracy is two wolves deciding on what to eat. Freedom is a well armed sheep protesting the vote.

Charleton Heston was a great actor and a great man. He will be missed by many, many people. He would be a suitable role model for many of the today's young people by the strength of his convictions and zeal for life. His life's accomplishments and the respect he commanded are truly to be admired.

To George Clooney, Bill Mohr, and Alec Baldwin: You publicly expressed glee at the news Heston had contracted Alzheimers. You were giddy that a fellow human being was going to die in such a slow horrible manner. Are you still happy today? How will you face your death when the time comes? Will you do it with diginity and character, or will you make the talk-show rounds, do Oprah, blame conservatives, and otherwise cry, whine, and wring every last molecule of pity, sympathy, and attention out of your situation? Nevermind. I think everyone already knows the answer to that.

Peace be with you Charleton Heston.
George Clooney was later applauded by his comments by both Charlton and his wife, in terms of sincere apology.   That fence was mended.    But for Bill Mohr and Alec, it's baggage they'll have subconsciously for the rest of their pointless lives.

Yes he was! I always wanted to be like him. One of my names in AOL was Rbenhur.

For you liberal and PC types, he also walked side by side with Martin Luther King.

RIP Mr Heston

If you guys want to make a worthwhile political stand, how about boycotting anything to do with the Beijing Olympics?

Criticising someone for their personal politics without engaging in dialogue with that person is pure and simple cowardice.

We lost a great man. :salute A man who wasnt afraid to stand for what he believed in. He'll always be a hero in my book for fighting to protect the 2'nd amendment. Chuck Heston understood that our right to bear arms is a fundemental pillar of freedom. Thats why our forefathers had the wisdom to write it.

It amazes me to read some of the comments made, and the ones deleted for obvious reasons.

Mr Heston does not need my defense.  But here it comes anyway.  He was much more articulate in explaining his views with those he debated then those who he debated that opposed his views.  Usually those debating him made tulips of themselves eventually by thowing insults and uninformed opinions and facts at light speed.  During that Mr Heston kept his calm and composure and let his adverdaries self destruct.  A wise man can guide the unintelligent to their own demise.  He did that frequently in many debates in which he was involved.

Actors today are a joke....of course this is just my humble opinion.  I miss Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, Bogart and Tracy just to name a few.
Today seems all is required is a pretty face, with not much else behind it.  I have no idea why actors such as Baldwin and Clooney amongst others feel their political views need to be made public?  As actors they make money and have gained celebrity status but let's face it most of them won't be mistaken for members of a think tank.  And how in the world do they feel they're more informed then the general public and more intelligent?  My guess would be arogance.

Mr Heston was a great actor, a great patriot and a fair minded man.  Can't really say that about any of todays so called actors.  They're prone to jumping on Sofas while appearing on Oprah and threaten to leave the country when their choice for political office is defeated.  Where's Gable and Stewart when ya need'em?

 :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

Skuzzy you did that on purpose!

Laugh so hard I think I hurt myself!

I looked at the post just above yours and flashed on....

Last picture I saw of Skuzzy he had a beard......

Reread what was above the picture...........

Reread Skuzzy post...........

OOOOOOOOHHHHH OWWWW

my sides hurt!

Got to say here IMHO Mr. Heston was one of the Greats.

I've enjoyed his movies and paid attention to his career and read his words and I have to say what many have already said.  He was a man of honor that stood by his beliefs AND he IMHO had a sense of humor, poked fun at himself and several of his roles, and displayed it in several films.

Recall the one where that Croc Dundee guy meant God in a different film.....

It saddened me considerably when so many SEEMED to rejoice at his illness and said the things they said.

I even thought of those saying what they said as back bitting little dogs ankle bitting at someone that IMHO was so much MORE then they.

Not by his films but by his beliefs, they way he articulated them, and his willingness to stand by them no matter the cost.

AND he often stood and did these things BEFORE it became popular to do so! (his Marching with MLK)
It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

It is truly a blessing that he has now finally past on.   He has been bed-ridden and unable to speak for quite a long time.  The family has not allowed anyone from the public to see him in recent years.

I remember well how Michael Moore ridiculed and made fun of Heston in his movie:  "Bowling for Columbine"   It was disgusting how utterly disrespectful of Heston Moore was in the film.   It showed what a true gentleman Heston was, that he did not punch Moore in the face for all the insults he made.

Besides being an early marcher for civil rights in America ( he stood on the platform near Dr. Martin Luther King during his famous "I have a Dream" speech at the Lincoln Memorial ), he was also a Union President, having been elected head of the Screen Actors Guild six times.   People who try to pigeon hole him as being some kind of loony one issue fanatic really don't know much about the real man, and what all of his life accomplishments were.

He was a real Renaissance man, and a true American.

I don't give a damn about the NRA one way or another, but Heston was a badass in "The Omega Man"

I saw that movie when I was about 8, and Heston's performance probably influeced my film and book interests more than any other single performance.

I can't say that I'll miss him, or anything like that, but I do sincerely have a ton of respect for what he gave me.

By no means a top notch actor...

Well, his peers thought otherwise. You don't win an Oscar with sub-top notch acting...
