light bulbs :lol  thats exactly what I meant, as far as I can remember there is no original SFX/CGI at all in that movie. thats pretty unique for any movie made these days, let alone a sf flick :huh

while we're at it Baz Luhrmans Romeo and Juliet is almost unwatchable. the treatment is fantastic, but both leads are hopelessly out of their depth. has Claire Danes been good in anything?

Starship troopers the movie and the book were two entirely seperate stories.  They shared the same title, and a couple of character names.  Past that it's really difficult to compare two.  I enjoyed both.

As for horrible movies, I'd have to say that Peter Jackson should be hanged for what he did.  Fellowship of the ring was good, The Two Towers was ok, and Return of the King was downright painful to watch.

The Return of the King is one of my favorite movies. Why was it "painful to watch'? That movie was great.

Picky picky.  I'm sure she has some talents.  Acting just isn't one of them.

She does have a couple of good points.

Yeah. Before it came out, I told people I'd already seen it... twice. Got some weird looks. :D

Was it ever a book though? We may be straying off topic.

Yes it was a book.  A very very bad book.  Personally I liked the last movie version even though I think it was about 30 minutes short and they picked the wrong ending.

What was the title? "The Last Man On Earth"?

The story didn't do anything for me.  In fact I think it compares quite nicely to The Cell by Stephen King.

My vote goes to the movie "From Justin to Kelly". The book was WAY better.  :)

I guess nobody got the joke.

With the exception of The Shining, EVERY movie based off a Stephen King novel was from "not good" (Christine) to "god awful" (The Langoliers). Most of his books are quite good. I love The Gunslinger series the best.

One book i would like to read is L.A. Confidential. The movie based on it is one of my favorites  :aok
"Then out spake brave Horatius, the Captain of the gate:
To every man upon this earth, death cometh soon or late.
And how can man die better, than facing fearful odds.
For the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods."

Cool. I didn't knew they had reverted to the original book title. Probably a great story in 1954, but comes across as derivative 53 years later. Too bad, because it looks like Matheson helped create the whole modern "undead" genre.

I've got a copy of it somewhere around my house.  If you want I can toss it in the mail to you if I can find it.

Raise the Titanic by Clive Cussler.  Awesome story, movie really, really stunk.  Cussler can't get a break either.  His other book, Sahara was also a flop when it went to the silver screen.
