So I was curious a little and had a little free time to kill at work.  I decided to use the search button and dig up some threads from circa June-Nov 2004.  I tried to pick some more interesting threads that I dug through.  I found it interesting what some political thoughts were back then and what's in the headlines this election year.  The selection of threads I picked in no way were to sway a political argument one way or another.  I just find it interesting to go back and look at what people said and thought.

I find the "Sticker shock at the gas pump" interesting, seeing everyone complain then about paying $2.00 a gallon, I think we'd kill our mothers to get $2.00 a gallon again.

I can't help but wonder how long it will be until someone links to a thread complaining about $4.00/gallon gas, saying, 'I think we'd kill our mothers to get $4.00 a gallon again'?

How many of you remember Jimmy Carter?
Gas went from 25-30 cents to $1.35 - $1.50 in his 4 years or between 4 and 5 hundred %.
The evil Bushmister has only had a slightly less than 100% increase in his 8 years.

We wont even dwelve into JC's sugar crisis, coffee crisis el al.

Bout four years. Only it will probably be $5-$6 a gallon by then
