Buckaroo I have restarted my Black Shark learning sequences as well. I invested in a little notebook to keep beside me for both the start up sequences in BS1 and A-10C which both took me about 4 hours each to get the cold start procedures down to less than 5 minutes from kicking off the mission. I agree that its tough but I suggest you do like I am doing and start making a note book for each thing. As I get more comfortable in the training modes I start using the notebook less and less for the systems and targeting.
Still though it would be cool to hear from guys like Russian and Eagl who are active USAF pilots how similar the startup sequences are in aircraft compared to the simulations.
Hi Reschke,
Actually you are the guy that got me interested in the Black Shark last year in a message you posted to the Aces High forum.
It took me a long time to get familiar with Aces High. I know it pretty well, now. But currently, though a paying member, still. I am not playing it until September when I quit DSL and get a cable ISP which will run 7 times faster!
I play in full sim mode, not game mode. I found some CH Products profiles to modify to CH Hangar for both aircraft.
The A-10C Warthog was a very steep learning curve to where I am now and I just know the basics, still a lot to learn. That was total immersion for 6 months last year. I have the latest newbie, too. Maybe 5 minutes to get airborne, but you need 10 minutes to get the weapon systems up and ready on the ingress in to the combat area. I think the A-10C's combat ability is more difficult than the helicopter, but the helicopter is harder for me to fly it.
I actually found a 2009 copy of the Black Shark flight manual in a metal spiral bound 500 page book from Amazon.com published by Eagle Dynamics and DCS. The online manual is great for searching for a topic item, but I prefer a book opened up in front of me.
I am a fanatic searching, asking questions, and finding useful info and then printing it out and also bookmarking and adding to stuff to My Documents. I make folders and use my filing cabinet.
This beginners start-up sequence by SDeath comes in handy for BS2, but I got most of it memorized now. Some of it has to be done in proper order or things malfunction and in flight have to be reset and started over. I don't do the test checks as one would do in a real aircraft.
http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35571Also, this beginner intro into combat basics by Para_Bellum is helpful, I found this within the last week, just reading their forums. I printed it out, see page 19, chase down the download source:
http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185/19.htmlhttp://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2626185And the User Files video instruction are very helpful. These 22 lessons used to be interactive before Black Shark 2:
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/video/bs2-training/This guy redid some of them, his way, just for BS2. Download the .miz files and drop them into the folder sequence Black Shark 2/Missions. They will then come up in the BS2 Index under Missions.
http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=84612Realize most all the good files were posted in 2008 and 2009. LOL! Some of it is being done for the BS2 newbie, lately, by the members, not the staff.
My biggest gripe is in Multiplayer, there is not much available with low ping rates, but maybe I need to join a squad.
Here are their User Files, members created, most are free. Just set the filter selections as to what you are seeking. Most are .miz files and add them to to your Missions folder as I stated above.
http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/It is just too much to also learn LockOn Flamming Cliffs 2 and #3 is in the works. This version is not as intense the learning curve and more servers are available in Multiplayer.
I actually downloaded Dragon's Mission Pack to be played only in Multiplayer.
http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=43361&highlight=Dragons+MissionpackMultiplayer kind of sucks. I finally get into the combat area or I am RTB to rearm and refuel or get repaired and POOF! somebody closed their server or reloaded a new mission.
So I play on my own PC server by myself and create a solo LAN party. I can play all day. I set a password so nobody pesters me. My ping rate is 16! LOL! I have another PC, I checked it out to see if I really was on their server. I was. I do not know if I could host very many people on my computer. I have always wanted to get a dedicated server, but I need to own a small country to afford it.
I found all this stuff on my own. Plenty here for the beginner that wants to take the plunge into the madness.
It is all good, it is fun.
Welcome to the asylum.
