Just started season 3 last week, just finished epi. 4.  I've loved this series since the first 2 hour movie.  Hell, I enjoyed the original series as a kid.

Season 3 through episode 4 is epic.  Get ready for the downward spiral! Haha

<edit> That might be a little rash, but the story arc takes a turn for the worse in most of season 3 after New Caprica.

I have S1 and S2/2.5 on DVD but I haven't bought S3, I guess I am displeased with S3 enough to not buy it.  I didn't know that SciFi made them change the plot format.  That's ridiculous.

Whether it be television, music, or anything creative, whenever somebody is asked or forced to compromise their artistic integrity, it's always with the intent of making more money and almost ALWAYS, the product suffers.  In this day in age, it is more prevalent then ever before.

in my own personal belief i think that the producers were looking at the success of the first two seasons and thinking they could push the story beyond the four years it was designed for. they were looking at the 6 7 or 8 years that they normally push a series for. they lost the fact that the greatest part of BSG was that you new from the beginning that it was gonna be short. that a viewer was not going to commit to a show that would run on and on for years without end and watching the show fall into the same lame story of looking and looking for earth and always being just a step away but never finding it. that story line gets plaid out after a very short period and besides its be done so many times already.

watch season 3 if you have it, some of what happens plays an important part in the season 4 back looks and it does move the original story along.

I watched all of Season 3 on TV, didn't miss one episode.  My favorite episode was Unfinished Business and I need to see the extended version which is on the DVD I hear :/
FLOTSOM, me and you are on the same page bro, that's the exact reason I stopped watching Lost.  I quit somewhere in Season 3, I couldn't deal with it anymore.  After Torn,  thought good episodes were few and far between.  Eye of Jupiter was good but I thought The Passage and Rapture were crap story telling at its worst.  Then the character that dies in Maelstrom (dont want to give anything away), another example of terrible storytelling.  Crossroads Pt2 was very good though.  Lee's speech was one of the highlights of the entire series.

I downloaded an episode when it first came out (since I did not have cable at the time).  After watching '33' (never saw the mini series until at least a year later), I immediately downloaded the whole first season and spent the next 2 days watching every single episode.

I grew up with Star Wars and Star Trek and I've always loved the Sci-Fi genre.  I absolutely fell in love with BSG after I saw the first episode.  My favorite TV Sci-Fi of all time and my favorite TV show of all time.  Granted there have been less than stellar episodes, but what series doesn't.

Imagine how many fans the show could potentially have garnered if more people would have known about it or just given it a chance.

I watched the first 2 seasons, had them downloaded on my computer, I still need to get the rest of the seasons, but from the first 2 seasons I saw it's definitely a great show.

And that's why i don't watch the new one. I hated that one and Space 1999.

well uptown the new one is soooo different from the original that the only thing they share is very basic story outline and the name.

rent download or go by the dvd for the mini series that started the new version off. youll see it is nothing like the show you hated years ago.

I'll check it out. I hated the "new" Star Trek when it first came out. The one with Data and Capt.Picard. Then after watching it for a whole season, I can bring myself to watch the old Capt.Kirk episodes anymore

They have more BSG?  I thought the episode where they found earth was a radioactive wasteland was the end.  Figured it was their tribute to The Planet of the Apes.
