Well the "new F4U pit build" has started. The pit will be skinned and built primarily with sheet metal. what you see below is a rough bulkhead layout. I may need to clip off the bottom as the rear bulkhead is 6' tall and I have 8' ceiling height. may not have enough Clarence to get in this monster but I want the build to be to scale. I will post more pics as the build progresses.

You are a total dweeb, and I wish I was one too.

Can't wait to see pics of the finished unit.

Wow what an honor to be called a dweeb, I wish I could have been a dweeb as a kid, but I guess waiting till 40 :old: to do something I have always wanted is OK. after I get this monstrosity where I can fly it :airplane: maybe someone can teach me how to fly...my squad mates are some awesome sticks but time prevents me from training much with them.

The guy who originally developed the dreamflyer has a new prototype that should be better and cheaper.

lol ive been looking at that dreamflyer for a couple years now, I have way to many kids to be able to do anything or buy as of yet, I like the route you are going, full scale and look I would give up the motion for the look I think, I wish aces high could have gauges outside the screen, for working gauges in the cockpit.

I think you are gonna do a great job on this I look forward to the progress :salute

TY I will keep posting my progress, Tactile transducers placed below the pedals, under the seat and in the stick go along way as far as immersion goes. I have a post in wishlist called "Glass Gauges" but I have already figured out how to do separate gauges on a 4th monitor that actually work, but it is a bit of an investment, if you want to know how its done just PM me and I will tell ya how to do it.

I started to work on my Hotas Cougar stick mods. My neighbor is a welder and works for a race team, he gave me a U-Joint from a race cars steering shaft. I will post pics as soon as I get the hall sensors and start the actual construction. :joystick:

Troubles....I can't seem to find Hall sensors anywhere the 1 place I found them says they are on back order until March, Does anyone have a line on where to get them? (I'm not going to buy Cub's and pay a arse load of cash for a $2 hall sensor!)

Digikey (http://www.digikey.com) seems to have a bunch. They are out of stock on one particular type, but show a bunch of others in stock in large quantities.

I think I found a source of hall sensors, they are going to call back and confirm that they have them in stock.
this gave me an Idea, I may start making and selling custom built full length fighter sticks. ( I could coustomize them from any stick on the market, wonder if there would be a demand for such an item?
