Thankfully it never stays cold enough here to ice fish  :D ...gotta put the boat in the shop before spring because some SOB blew a cylinder in it   :furious  If I see that guy in the mirror later I'm gonna cuss him...and just to add to that, as the wife and I floated haplessly on the lake at 3am that morning she did nothing but laugh at me while I cussed my motor for coughing up a piston and she even had the nerve to blame me  women

Took my daughter out hunting for the first time ever this year.....4 grown men with hunting experiance adding up to over 130years.......and 1 13yrold girl....with total hunting experiance of 1 day and 3 hours. (to be fair tho, she has been shooting since she was 4yrs old)

Well needless to say......of the 5 of us up there, she was the only one to get a deer  :D  :x .....this is a 3pt buck...that dressed about 165lbs..I have a better pic that shows its true size...but theres a bit of blood in it and i think posting it may be a little off putting to some.

It took me about 45mins to field dress it...due to me shaking like an 18yrold virgin at the prom....and wiping the tears from my face. Thankfully i managed to get it done and come out of it with all 10 fingers. Easiest drag ever also....as it fell 40yards from a trail.....and we have a Ranger up at the mountain house....(gone are the days of me humping a deer 4hrs out of the woods  :D )

She used the new Marlin 336 Lever in 35Remingon i bought her before the trip......needless to say it works well....1 shot...that was it...game over.

Im hoping that next year she gives a little seminar to us older pro's....as it appears we need it   The whole time I knew her grandpop, my dad,  was looking down on her smiling.....

God im so very Proud of her!!!!!!!

I know its not fishing......but I wanted to share this with you guys, hope no one is offended.

congrats to your daughter way to show dad up  :aok  my first 2 years hunting were the same way, first year got my buck which was a fork horn, dad and buddies got skunked and didnt even see a deer.  The seond year, I got my bull elk within 45 mins of legal shooting hours opening day, that is a story in its self hahaha.  climbed to the top of the mountain behind camp, and had to go pee, so I leaned my gun against a tree and took a couple steps to another tree, and while I was watering the tree, I heard crashing in the trees and a huge bull elk blasts through the trees like 20 yards from me, was like holy @!## hahaha nevereven ziped my pants grabbed my gun, slung around and started shooting.  of course I didnt get the big one, but saw a grouping heading back over the top and ended up getting my bull.  when my dad made it over to where I was, he told me to stand by it so he could get my picture, thenhe noticed my pants were all wet and asked what happened :lol man good times  :aok

Finally starting to get the Walters dialed in a little better.  Some nice warm days where I can sit outside and feel the sun on my face would be great.  Solitary confinement in my shack with the heater bumping is starting to get old, and even with the heater my lines were freezing up bad tonight.

Dinner I caught Tue. night.  Strangest thing, I cleaned them and let them soak overnight, and when I pulled them out of the fridge the next day there were only 7 fillets.  Apparently one of those fish only had one side.  ;) :bhead

From tonight, 17" and change and full of eggs, let her go make babies.  Not a monster, but my best one through the ice so far so I'm still stoked to be finding some success.

Valu I'll be looking forward to seeing some sturgeon pics when you get out, what an awesome fish.
To each their pwn.

Mbailey, I'm offended fella, offended by the fact your daughter shot such a fine beast, and further offended by the fact you didn't send me any of that delicious venison.

And there was me, thinking we were friends sigh  :D :D :D :D :D

Top job by your daughter showing you lot how its done - my wife does that to me every time we go fishing together.

Now, where's my meat?????
