Donation made.  I meant to after the Final Battle scenario, but time got away from me.  Thanks for all your hard work Brooke.

(Also, thanks again for your AW manual you wrote back in the day.  When AW first came to AOL as a premium pay per hour game, I clicked on it and was taken to that manual.  I read the entire thing through, totally fascinated, then went out immediately and bought a joystick.  Logged in right after I got home.   :salute

Hey, that's interesting about the AW manual.  I'm glad it was of use.

Hell yeah!  I was around 19 at the time and had always had a love for the ww2 warbirds since I was a kid and had a "Ghosts" calendar.  I played Yeager's air combat and Battle of Britain when they were out, but had kind of drifted off.  Then I read that manual, and here I am today.  Even neater, it had quotes from some of my current squaddies in it, how freakin cool is that!?!

Did AOL start out as a per minute thing or did end up as such...

All I can remember is it was free and part of the service...before it went to Prodigy...where it was also 'free' and part of the service...

And of course after Prodigy it went Game Storm Kesmai before finally being killed by the idiots at EA...

Air Warrior started out hourly on GEnie; then spread to Delphi and CRIS; then to CompuServe, Earthlink, and (flat fee) on AOL.

I had a Delphi account and the first 2 months were hourly. (1996) When AOL included it, I was ecstatic!! The Cutts flew every other week on CompuServe and Earthlink. I didn't sign up for the accounts.
I remember several times that I fired up the ole "modem" on my old Packard Bell (first) PC and downloaded the game. Took all night.  :lol  I remember Friday nights we flew B-17s gunned all night!  What a hoot it was back in the day. I was lucky that my monthly bill never got over $100. I was such a noob and still am! Nothing really changes!

I say for absolute certain that it was pay per hour at first on AOL.  It was under premium games and was 2 or 3 bucks an hour.  I remember very clearly when they announced it was going to all you can eat.  I was excited because I didn't make much money at all then and I was glad of the savings.

Heh, sorry to be a little rude, but maybe that would be better in its own topic? By all means carry on (I enjoy reading 'em) but we probably ought to keep this thread on-topic.
