Doesn't matter.  Sometimes I salute, if I think it was an especially good fight or I feel like it.  Sometimes I don't because I am simply not thinking about it, or on to something else and didn't even bother paying attention to who it was that killed me.  The bottom line is I don't expect a salute if I shoot someone down.  Those are expectations that will never be met so I would constantly be disappointrf.  I'd rather have no expectations and be pleasantly surprised if it happens than have an unmet expectation and spend most of my time disappointed.

I always respond to salutes. After a good 1v1 I always salute first, win or lose.

I know some refuse to salute no matter...what ever.

I understood you I think, unless I didn't. Even if not a new guy, might be acknowledging you flew well and were hard to pick. Either way, unless some one is using <S> to wind you up, what's the difference? <S> back and move on.

I'm still appreciative of efforts - always have been. It's been my standard practice to not do <S> since even before I came to AH. Like I said, I acknowledge in other ways. It's just a personal thing, about the <S>.  I save them for the passing of vets and stuff like that here on the BBS.

I'd throw a salute to people I enjoy fighting or a friend that has landed a good bag of kills even if I wasn't one of them. 

Don't expect a salute from me If you just ganged or HOed.     I will return your insulting salute when I next kill you  :D

Any good fights that go on for awhile, win or lose you will get one back.

What about picked or vulched?....or "dogfight interruptus"?

I wouldn't up from a vulched field,   as for picked it would be my own SA's fault and not the good teamwork of my opposition  ;)
