I recall hearing several Sheriffs in CO were saying they would both try to help legislate county laws and facilitate municipal laws that would give them authority to charge for recreational use and possession, and thus override any state law. Iirc they also said they would do their best to make arrests and turn over to Feds. I know first hand how the Vail Police Dept see it, and one of those Sheriffs was Eagle County (Vail & Beaver Creek.) Another was Summit County, which includes Winterpark, Keystone, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Loveland Pass and Copper Mtn. It wouldn't surprise me if there are many other counties in CO that would try the same. If you spend enough time there, you'll find out what flies in Denver is often laughed at by the rest of the state. Might want to look into that if you plan on toking on the lift.

I would find that hard to enforce, especially since the State is saying it is legal.  It will simply cost those counties too much to defend if people start appealing to the State Supreme Court and you can guarantee that will happen.  Having lived for a long time in Colorado, I m saddened to talk to my friends still there when they highlight the negativity that legalized recreational use has brought.

Imagine the amount of convictions that are going to be happening for law abiding citizens who forgot a 'intent to distribute' amount of weed in their pocket while visiting a nearby state.

There is that.  I have a friend in Kansas that gets a kick out of nailing people coming out of CO and finding dope.  Says it is like shooting fish in a barrel.

It barely scratches the surface. Watch "Grass" with Woody Harrelson. Great documentary.

I invited him but he didn't show.  Had to watch it without Woody.

Always remember that for the most part, Fed Law trumps State.

You mean in theory or practice? 150yrs ago we fought a war against each other over that subject. You mean in practice. Jefferson, Madison, you name it, wanted decentralized and small doings in the Capitol.

"Keeping us safe" has eroded that with every day/passing year since 1941.
They're casting their bait over there, see?

Hmm judging from the documentaries and media I've seen your country has turned from a stiff upper lip aristocracy to a full blown jungle with huge crime problems and people scared for their lives at their homes. What are all those news reports about 'ethnic gangs' looting and pillaging your suburbs about? http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/446362/Shocking-CCTV-shows-girl-attacked-by-bus-mob

It's all bollocks. The government and tabloids just like to spread fear so that we keep in line

That's the whole point.  Until the Feds legalize it, it is a gamble.  If the Feds find more money in confiscation than they do in taxation, you will see the confiscation.  It's all about the money and a large percentage of the overall population that does not want to see it legalized on a national scale.

Always remember that for the most part, Fed Law trumps State.

Well the amount of money the government spends to locate the plants in California and what not costs millions.  I cant imagine the convictions making that up for the government.  The government could easily make billions off of a large tax on it, say a 30-50% tax rate.

It's twice as good when he's there. Dude has some great stories.

We did, and you remember which side won, right?  Obviously decentralized was the desire, but the reality is centralized.

I would argue that apathy and the 2.2 kids, $50K in the bank, and keeping up with the Joneses dream has done more to hurt us then anything else.

How is that?  He pulls someone over for breaking the law and then smells pot in the car and, oh wait, does his job some more?  You have a weird sense of reality if you think that is wrong.  I know you think smoking dope is cool, but it is illegal in the vast majority of states.  Get over it.  People make choices and those choices have consequences.  You would do well to remember that.
