I hope you simply take a break and return sometime in the future.  I have done this a few times myself when all the negative aspects of the game get to me.

You have contributed much to the AH community and still have much to contribute.  The idea of spending more time in the Training Arena with players might help.  I find that refreshing myself.

For those of us playing this game for well over a decade, Aces High is more of a social club. The game just provides the framework. I keep logging in for the people and Pipz was the kind that you keep coming to meet again.

I get it, Latrobe, but you'll be missed.  Hopefully a break will let you reset and you'll return when you get the itch.

My Cool Latrobe Story:

His 109F was working in the area I was.  I was in a C205 or something like that.  He was out of ammo, I knew he was out of ammo because he'd hit me with BBs repeatedly and then stopped even though he had shots.  What proceeded next was a couple of the most infuriating minutes of my AH career as I tried to get guns on him, but he just stayed behind me no matter what I did.  We were near the deck and I finally lost the edge and crashed my plane trying to get a shot on him.

It was well done.  I hated him at that moment, but it was well done. ;)

Take care man,
Wiley.
If you think you are having a 1v1 in the Main Arena, your SA has failed you.

Nah he logs on throughout the day but he is most commonly online 12-3pm EST and again 7-9pm EST. So EU Prime Time and US Prime Time. I think that is EU Prime Time. . .

Haha!  Widewing did that to me in the TA when I was like only a few weeks into the game.  I was probably in a fully loaded A-8 or A-5 maybe and he was in some god awful flap monster vulture looking thing of a corsair...no idea what mark it was.

All I thought while he stuck to me like a shadow...never firing a shot was 'I hate this guy'...and all I felt back from him was...'I hate this guy...'

Combat game. Nuff said.

Latrobe,
We don't know each other from the main arena.  But I know you from the community because of the generosity of your knowledge and your general involvement in 'what's going on'.

The lakes here in Texas have really suffered in the drought.  Lost shoreline is exposing a lot of ugly.  We don't complain, we just keep hoping it will rain.  We pray for it.  You've got to feel like you're a vanishing breed around here.  I don't think you are.  It's just that the current numbers of players are exposing a lot of ugly, no matter what your game preferences are.

You are entitled to your frustration.  I don't want to see one more player leave the game during this period of low numbers.  I'm hoping that things will turn around and I'm willing to bet they will.

With respect,

Ratsy

This is very well said.  :aok
Sorry to see you go for a bit latrobe. In general sorry to see anyone go as everyone adds a little bit to the game in their own way.

Damn dude, if I thought you were being serious last night I would have put some effort in to talking you down instead of asking you for your perkies before you left.

You really have no clue do you?

I didn't ask you for one, I just expressed my view, that's all.

Again, =S= Latrobe, Good Fights.

I personally think that you have earned a great deal of respect during your years of play here at AH.  :salute

I sincerely hope that you decide to take a break, even shelve your gear for a bit.  Breathe some fresh air (forget where :headscratch: you live).  Enjoy youth, and come back frequently on the forums to let some of your  :old: old friends know how life is developing.

I take particular interest in this announcement, because it is a complaint from a very "low maintenance" type of player.  Another point of interest, is that Latrobe and I fly during off peak hours at times.

Perhaps the ground war has crept into our AIR combat game.  I just hope that more folks do not give up, but rather, step back and give it another go on another day.

Some days, weeks, and months are filled with dreary mind numbing routines, and then one day, something bright and shiny catches your attention, and the world is a marvelous place to ponder about again.

Wishing you well in all your endeavors Latrobe, but if you leave and don't come fly with me first, I will post your "baby" pictures..... :neener:

July last year saw 757,947 K/Ds in LWA. This year 491,152. 2012 saw 831,743 in LWA. In 2009 the LWAs had about 1,300,000. And thats just LWAs.

The sky isnt falling but the game IS dieing. I'd say its lost somewheres between 60% and 70% of its prime player base. In the last few years its lost players it just cant afford to lose. Most of all valued Euro and foreign players.

2008 and 09 was a good year!    :)

Sorry to hear that latrobe's patience with the dweebery of some AH player types has finally run out.   Latrobe was always a rare diamond in my eyes, no matter the odds or how he was getting his butt handed to him, would come again and again and seemingly not lose his cool outwardly.

A massive shame that people always look for the easy way out rather than fighting the good fight.   Big Salute and I hope you find something worthwhile and enjoyable to do with your masses of free time!

 :salute
